체적소 인형 모의피폭체는 방사선 관련 분야에서 다양하게 사용되고 있으며 최근 의료영상기술과 컴퓨터의 급속한 발전으로 더 많은 각광을 받고 있다. 하지만 현재까지 개발된 체적소 인형 모의피폭체는 환자 등 실제 인체의 영상을 이용하여 제작되었기 때문에 ICRP Reference Man (2002) 등의 표준 자료에 크게 벗어난다. 본 연구에서는 표준 성인 남성의 체형과 골격을 가진 물리적 인형 모의피폭체(ATOM Adult Male Phantom, CIRS, Virginia, USA)에 MIRD형 수학적 인형 모델의 장기들을 정의하여 표준의 체형과 장기를 가진 하이브리드 체적소 인형 모의피폭체를 개발한 후 몬테칼로 전산모사에 사용하였다.

We encountered a patient with heavy Hymenolepis nana infection. The patient was a 44-year-old Korean man who had suffered from chronic hepatitis (type B) for 15 years. A large number of H. nana adult worms were found during colonoscopy that was performed as a part of routine health screening. The parasites were scattered throughout the colon, as well as in the terminal ileum, although the patient was immunocompetent. Based on this study, colonoscopy may be helpful for diagnosis of asymptomatic H. nana infections.

The metabolism of carbinoxamine, 2-[(4-chlorophenyl)-2-pyridinyl-methoxy]-N, N-dimethylethaneamine, was studied in adult male volunteers after an oral dose of 15 mg. Solvent extracts of urine obtained with or without enzyme hydrolysis were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after derivatization with MSTFA/TMSCl (N-methyl-N-trimethylsilyltrifluoroacetamide/trimethyl chlorosilane). The structures of metabolites were determined based on the electron impact (EI) and chemical ionization (CI) mass spectra. Nonconjugated metabolites identified in the urine were carbinoxamine, nor-carbinoxamine, and bits-nor-carbinoxamine. Parent drug, nor-carbinoxamine, and bits-nor-carbinoxamine were also detected as conjugated forms. These metabolites observed in human urine were different from those previously reported in the rat. Urinary excretions of carbinoxamine were reached to maxima in 4 hours after drug administration with 4.9%-8.1% and 2.5-4.2% of the dose excreted during 24 h as carbinoxamine and its glucuronide, respectively.

A survey was conducted to study the ingredient and the nutrition of Yukwa consumed in Jeonbuk region. Additional survey was performed to the adult population in Jeobook region to identify the recognition and improvement of Yukwa. The ingredient and baking process varies from each region. The modernization of Yukwa baking process requires introduction of new flavour using new ingredient and simplification of the baking process as these two factors are holding back the modernization of the Yukwa. Top quality Yukwa can be produced by standardized baking process, using top quality agricultural goods, cultivated in Korea. The key to making Yukwa more accessible to the public is by simplifying the current baking process, including the drying process Bandegi, which is the most complicated process of all.

Congenital bronchoesophageal fistula (BEF) is rarely reported in adults in the English literature. Herein, we present a rare case of congenital BEF in a 43-year-old man that was incidentally found on esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Chest CT and barium esophagography revealed a fistula between his lower esophagus and the right lower lobe segmental bronchus. After the fistula was surgically treated, the fistula was no longer noted on follow-up barium esophagography.

CdR aminohydrolase의 활성을 老化와의 관련하에서 보기 위해서 초라피(Drosophila melanogaster)의 이효소의 활성을 발생단계별로 측정하여 다음의 결과를 얻었다. 1. 초파리에서 CdR이 분해되는 과정은 쥐나 생쥐와 마찬가지로 $CdR \\to UdR \\to U$임을 알수 있었다. 2. CdR-aminohydrolase외 활성은 유충과 번데기에서 검출이 불가능하였고 성체에서만 검출되었다. 3. 성체의 효소활성은 젊은 개체에 비해서 늙은 개체에서 증가를 보였다. 4. 실험의 결과는 CdR-aminohydrolase의 활성이 초파리의 老化또는 발생단계와 관련성이 있음을 시사하였다.

Acute appendicitis is one of the most common diseases of young people that requires emergency operation. This is especially true for those age 10 years old and older. However, the numbers of cases of appendicitis are increasing in both the young and the elderly. The main purpose of this study is to understand the clinical features of acute appendicitis in children and elderly patients. We retrospectively compared clinical characteristics in 4 groups of patients who underwent appendectomy in our hospital. There were 16 patients in the pre-school age group, 9 were males and 7 females. The total number of patients in the juvenile group were 287, 156 were males and 131 females. The total numbers of patients in the adult group were 794, 436 were males and 358 females. The numbers of elderly patients were 189, 91 were males and 98 females. Complicated appendicitis was found in 15 patients (93.7 %) in the pre-school age group, 79 patients (27.5 %) in the juvenile group, 332 patients (41.8 %) in the adult group, and 96 patients (50.7 %) in the elderly group. Four patients (40 %) had generalized panperitonitis in the pre-school group. The occurrence of perforated appendicitis was the highest in the pre-school age group and the lowest in the juvenile group. Since generalized panperitonitis has a higher incidence in the pre-school age group, prudent and careful diagnosis and treatment are required for the pre-school age group.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on depression, anxiety, self care behavior and quality of life in cancer patients. Methods: Two thousand and eighty three abstracts were identified through six electronic databases (1980 to June 2012) in Korea. Seventeen studies involving 679 participants met the inclusion criteria for meta analysis. Two authors independently assessed trial quality by Cochrane's Risk of Bias and Methodological Items for Non Randomized Studies and extracted data. The data were analyzed by the RevMan 5.2 program of Cochrane library. Results: Overall, study quality was moderate to high. CBT was conducted for a mean of 4.2 weeks, 7 sessions and an average of 36.1-minutes per session. CBT was effective for depression (d=-0.85; 95% CI=-1.09, -0.61), anxiety (d=-0.52; 95% CI=-0.75, -0.29), self care behavior (d=-1.34; 95% CI=-1.93, -0.74), and quality of life (d=-0.42; 95% CI=-0.80, -0.04). Publication bias was not detected as evaluated by funnel plot and Egger's test. Conclusion: CBT has small to large effects on depression, anxiety, self care and quality of life. These finding suggests that various CBT interventions can assist cancer patients in reducing emotional distress and improving self care and quality of life.

흉쇄 관절의 화농성 관절염은 드문 질환으로 정맥주사 약물 남용, 당뇨 그리고 외상 등과 같은 선행성 요인과 연관되어 주로 발생한다. 진단이 지연될 경우 종격동염, 흉벽 농양 등과 같은 위험한 합병증이 발생할 수 있으므로 전산화 단층촬영이나 자기공명영상 검사 등을 시행하여야 하고 종격동염 및 흉벽 농양 등과 같은 합병증 발생 시는 흉쇄 관절 절제술을 고려하여야 한다. 저자들은 감염 유발 소인이 전혀 없는 건강한 52세 남자에서 발생하였으며 균 배양 검사상 포도상구균으로 동정되었고 감수성 항생제인 cefminox(첫 4주는 정맥주사, 그 후 2주는 경구투여)만으로 치유되었던 일차성 흉쇄 관절 화농성 관절염에 대해 보고하는 바이다.

Intussusception primarily occurs in children and is uncommon in adults. Moreover, intussusception caused by intestinal tuberculosis is very rare. We report a case of intussusception induced by intestinal tuberculosis. A 53-year-old man presented to our hospital with complaints of cough and sputum for 2 weeks. We started anti-tuberculosis medication as the patient's sputum acid-fast staining was positive. After 4 days of treatment, the patient developed abdominal cramping pain. Imaging studies showed ileo-ileal type intussusception. The patient underwent segmental resection of the small bowel and intestinal tuberculosis was confirmed on histological examination. He recovered after surgery and was discharged on anti-tuberculosis medication.
