This study was conducted to make a policy proposal for Korean grandparent-grandchildren families, analyzing what adversities adolescent grandchildren suffer when living in a grandparent-grandchild family, the types of Korean families and how family resilience appears as family power. In order to conduct this study, 20 consenting adolescents were selected for an interview from grandparent-grandchildren families recommended by the U City Healthy Family Support Center. This study suggests the following conclusions. First, we discussed divorce, death, financial bankruptcy related stress, economic difficulties in the present family, accidents involving family members of a grandparent-grandchild family, grandparents' serious disease, death, family conflicts and family comparisons with friends. Second, in the domain of family resilience, desire to maintain the family appeared as a Korean value. In addition, efforts to bond as an emotional family and grandchildren's attitudes of gratitude to grandparents are also expressed. However, family conversation appears weak due to the generation gap between adolescents and grandparents or complications from family stress. Third, the resilience in the family organization appeared weak since there are relatively insufficient socio-economic resources to support the family. This study makes several suggestions for family policies and shows the necessity to develop policies that reflect the needs of grandchildren and grandparents.

청소년기는 가족관계를 통해 1차적 사회관계를 경험하는 시기이기 때문에 청소년의 가족관계는 매우 중요하다. 특히 사회복지서비스를 제공받고 있는 조손가족 청소년은 일반 청소년에 비해 부정적인 가족관계로 인한 심리·사회적 문제를 일으키는 경우가 많아 그들의 가족관계를 완화하여 다시 회복할 수 있는 적응유연성이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 조손가족 청소년의 가족관계가 적응유연성에 미치는 영향에 있어 자아존중감, 공감, 내·외통제감을 매개변수로 설정하였고, 그들 간의 경로를 파악하여 전체적인 측면에서의 통합적인 인과성을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전국 단위의 조손가족 청소년 492명을 대상으로 Amos 19.0 프로그램을 이용하여 상관관계 및 경로분석을 실시하였고, 모형의 유의성 및 경로 간의 직·간접효과의 통계적 유의성을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 조손가족 청소년의 가족관계는 적응유연성에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤고, 자아존중감, 공감이라는 매개기능을 통해서 간접적인 영향력이 상대적으로 높아짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 조손가족 청소년의 가족관계에 있어 자아존중감, 공감, 내·외통제감에 초점을 맞춘 사회복지프로그램 개발과 활용이 사회복지실천적 접근과제임을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine grandparents' role to their grandchildren, the role type, and the variables that influence the role. For this purpose, data were collected from 542 grandparents through questionnaire. The main findings are as follows: 1. The most frequent role activity that grandparents perform include 'advising their grandchildren to be successful,' 'encouraging them to study hard,' 'having them help housework,' and 'teaching them how to behave', whereas the least one is 'to teach things such as cooking, paduk, and chess.' 2. Supporting role, educating role and raising role are three types of grandparents' role activity to their grandchildren. 3. One of the significant variables affecting their role level is living arrangement of grandparents. In addition, age, economic level, and educational level are partially effective variables in grandparents' role, along with whether they work or not, how often they meet their grandchildren, and how old their grandchildren are. However, it is not among significant variables whether they are healthy, or whether they are paternal or maternal.

The purposes of this study were to identify the adolescent’s perception to grandparent’s clothing behavior, the effect of grandparent’s clothing behavior on the attitudes toward their grand parents, and the variables related to the adolescent’s attitudes toward their grandparent affecting grandparent’s clothing behavior. The results of this study may provide the foundations for the continuing family educational material to promote the grandparent-grandchildren relationship. Questionnaires were distributed to middle and high school students in Chonbuk Province through school teachers from June 9th 18th. 1999. and 485 questionnaires were analysed. Frequencies percentages, factor analysis. Cronbach’s a. t-test, F-test. and Duncan’s Multiple Range test were used for data analysis. The results were as follows: 1. The adolescent’s perception level of grandparent’s clothing behavior was higher when grandparents were younger. healthier and wealthier. in separate living status. and in case of younger and more female adolescents. In case of separate living status. the adolescent’s perception level was higher when grandparent and adolescent contacted frequently. 2. The adolescent’s perception level of grandparent’s clothing behavior was favorable when their total attitude toward grandparent was positive, especially in economic, intellectual. personality, and family relation aspects. 3. The effects of the perception of grandparent’s clothing behavior on the adolescent attitude toward their grandparent were higher in case of grandmother. female adolescent. and separate living status, less educated. and in worse health status grandparent.

조손가족 청소년들은 일반 가족의 청소년들에 비해 부정적인 환경에 노출됨으로써 심리사회적으로 부정적인 영향을 받는 경향이 높기 때문에 중요하게 검토되어야 한다. 이와 관련하여 조손가족 청소년의 위험요인, 보호요인과 학교 적응유연성 간의 관계를 다룬 연구가 이루어지고 있으나, 대부분 청소년의 위험요인, 보호요인과 학교 적응유연성 간의 단편적인 관계를 설명하는데 그치고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 조손가족 청소년의 위험요인과 보호요인 간, 그리고 이들과 학교 적응유연성 간의 매개적인 경로와 인과관계를 살펴보는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 전국 단위의 조손가족 청소년 328명을 대상으로 조사하였고, 분석방법은 SEM을 사용하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 조손가족 청소년의 위험요인, 보호요인과 학교적응유연성 간의 직접효과와 보호요인의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 구조회귀모형을 검증한 결과 모형의 적합도가 타당하게 나타났다. 위험요인은 청소년의 학교적응유연성에 부정적 영향을 미치며(교사의 무관심, 부정적 애착관계, 우울불안 순), 보호요인은 학교 적응유연성에 긍정적 영향을 미쳤다(교사의 지지, 자아존중감 순). 또 보호요인은 위험요인이 학교 적응유연성에 미치는 부정적 영향을 매개하여 완화시키는 것으로 나타났다.

본 연구는 2000년 이후 발표된 국내학술지 논문을 중심으로 조손가족과 공동양육가족 조부모의 손자녀양육 관련 질적 연구 논문을 비교분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2000년 이후 국내 학술지에 게재된 질적연구 논문 43편(조손가족 19편, 공동양육가족 24편)을 대상으로 기초사항(연도별 동향), 연구방법, 연구대상 특성, 연구내용의 범주에 대해 분석하였다. 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연도별 논문수는 조손가족의 경우 감소, 공동양육가족의 경우 증가추세를 보이고 있다. 둘째, 연구방법에서는 두 유형의 가족 모두 면접방법과 현상학적 연구방법을 많이 사용하였다. 셋째, 연구대상 특성에서 두 유형의 가족 모두 연구참여자 수는 6-10명이 가장 많았다. 그러나 그 외 인구학적변인, 양육환경, 물리적 환경에서는 모두 큰 차이가 있었다. 넷째, 연구내용 범주에서는 두 유형의 가족의 조부모들이 느끼는 양육의 의미, 긍정적 요소, 갈등요소, 갈등 해결방법 모두에서 공통점도 나타났지만 그 구체적인 심리적 경험에는 차이점이 나타났다. 이러한 비교연구 결과를 바탕으로 조부모양육지원에 대한 실제적인 제안과 향후 연구에 주는 시사점을 기술하였다.
