As the society has been capitalized, the importance of money has appeared widely. And there are many problems caused from the lack of money is supposed rather a qualitative problem happened by mismanagement of money than a quantitative. The purposes of this study are to suggest the desirable direction in money management education to adolescents and to provide some basic data to resolve the juvenile delin-quency caused from lack of money. With this purposes this study dealt with the money management behavior of adolescents with reference to self-concept, which was considered one of the influential factors to the money management behavior. Questionnaires composed with the Self-concept test (developed by Dr. chung) and the Money management test (developed by Dr. Troelstrup) were distributed to 300 high school students. 180 of them was taken as data. mean score and F-ratio were applied as statistical methods. As result, significant difference in money management behavior between the groups divided by self-concept scores were found. The higher the self-concept score is, the more desirable the money management behavior is. Here we cannclude as follow; As the money management behavior of adolescents differs with reference to the self-concept, it is possible to help the adolescents 세 develop the money management by inspiring the self-concept. And money management training as a consumer education is needed by all means at home, because it has an important effect upon the identity establishment, the major developmental task in adolescence.
This study examined the effect of private educational expenditure on adolescent depression and somatic symptoms. The sample comprised 2,589 first-grade middle-school students who completed the 2018 Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey. Data were analyzed using ANOVA (the generalized linear model), multiple regression, and quantile regression analysis. The principal results were as follows. First, 15.15% of adolescents reported depression symptoms, and 15.57% reported somatic symptoms. Second, levels of depression were significantly different among classes with a different level of private educational expenditure. Third, depression level was significantly negatively associated with private educational expenditure, in that the higher the private educational expenditure, the lower the depression level. Fourth, the effect of private educational expenditure on adolescent depression was significant at the 70~90th quantile regression, suggesting that private educational expenditure was associated with a higher level of depression symptoms. The results indicate that private education was viewed as a consumption commodity rather than a complementary educational practice or investment in human capital. Private education as a commodity might induce the highly developed and costly private education market. In turn, there is an increased financial burden for education at one end of the social-economic continuum and depression caused by relative deprivation at the other end.

This research aims to identify the relevance of 'Adolescence consumption' units to ESD(Education for Sustainable Development), and to analyze the unit's inquiry tendency through the Romey analysis method. The assessment criteria in association with ESD developed in the previous literature were summarized and established to set up an analysis framework consisted of 11 key points including environmental perspective (natural resources, climate change/disaster prevention and mitigation, and sustainable rural and urban systems), economic perspective (corporate sustainability, market economy, and poverty gap mitigation), and socio-cultural perspective (human rights/peace/human protection, cultural diversity and understanding, health/safety, civic engagement, and management of nation). With this framework, the learning contents of 'adolescence consumption life' unit in twelve middle school Home Economics textbooks were analyzed including the texts, images/illustrations/tables/graphs, and activities. The analysis revealed that the core elements of the 'market economy' and 'management of nation' from the economic perspective were presented in three different formats: texts, images/illustrations/tables/graphs, and activities. However, relatively insufficient contents were presented in terms of health/safety, civic engagement, sustainable rural and urban systems, and corporate sustainability, and thus, development of textbooks dealing with various ESD contents is neededrecommended. Additionally, most textbooks' texts and images/illustrations/tables/graphs tend to be authoritative, while activities and assignments exhibited an inquiry tendency. It is advisable to incorporate a wider variety of ESD-related content in Home Economics classes and creatively employ inquiry-based learning activities for the development of pro-sustainable-development consumption values and behavioral tendencies among young students.
This study was conducted to determine the content of inorganic metals in soft drinks distributed locally in markets.6 trace metals (Fe, Ca, Zn, Na, Mg, and K) were detected in 16 kinds of drinks,80 samples. The average concentration of inorganic metals in vegetable drinks was relatively higher than that of mixed drinks or carbonated drinks. The concentration of calcium, which is advisable inorganic metals for the growth of skeleton and the prevention of osteoporosis, hypertension, was very high and needed to be careful for the consumer who is suffer with lithiasis. Although carbonated drinks are very popular with the children and adolescence owing to the unbalance of the intake of Ca and P, habitual drinking could cause obstruction in skeletal growth and metabolism of Fe, Cu, and Zn. So, it is suggested that more practical study is needed fur the intake of inorganic metals.

The purpose of this study was to identify the important contents from teachers’, parents’and students’view points based on the sixth Home Economics textbook contents, to apply these results at school settings and to provide the materials as a basis for the next curriculum revision. Subjects were 59 teachers, 253 parents, and 389 students from 3 cities and 5 counties in CholaBukDo. A questionnaire which was made by the researcher was used as an instrument for this study. The results are as follows: Of 32 contents on Family life subarea, all the teachers, the parents and the students put the emphasis on sex such as pregnancy, purity, sex-ethics, etc. This result means that middle-school students emphasized the sexual identity formation and this was also a common concern about adolescents in our society. Of 37 contents of Managing home resource and Consumer life subarea, teachers though the environment pollution is an important subject and parents and students thought finding a method to conserve good environment were more important. This result reflects their concern on the environment. Of 49 contents on Dietary life, teachers and parents emphasized “the importance of nutritive elements”which is basic on their dietary life and students were more interested in “adolescence and growth and development among adolescents’nutritional characteristics and problems”which is more related to their current life. Of 40 contents on Clothing life subarea, while teachers put the emphasis on the method how they can buy ready-made clothes, parents and students wanted them to teach what kind of clothes are suitable for themselves. Of 18 contents on Residing life subarea, teachers emphasized the importance of ventilation for adjusting the room environment and students were more interested in the effective use of the residing space. By finding out what kinds of Home-economics contents are important from the view point of teachers, parents and students, this study can be a useful resource for the next curriculum revision and for selecting contents of a new-coming text book. However, restricted sampling must be considered and further studies which cover the whole area might be needed.
Recently, purchasing expensive branded apparel became prevalent among adolescents as they consume conspicuously. People in their adolescence strongly tend to follow peers and are very likely to pay attention to how they wear look to others. Already a good deal of prior research about young people's conspicuous consumption have focused on variables related to these behaviors. The purpose of this study is to examine demographic characteristics of adolescents who show a conspicuous consumption and factors affecting this consumption which is related to peer relations. And we will examine how negative emotions arisen out of relations influence teenagers' conspicuous consumption of branded apparels ultimately. Being out of favor from peers has an effect on anxiety which is negative emotion in association with peer relations. According to the survey, adolescents did conspicuous consumption following others or following trends to get rid of anxiety. Also, if appears to be acting on clothing consumption as a means not to be marginalized. All these findings are expected to be useful information to adolescents to have a better habit of consumption life, and also anticipated to be valuable information for consumer behavior education. The cause of youth's show-off behavior, which is still incomplete in identity formation and immature in choice and judgement, will have to be analyzed and countermeasures taken against it.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the framework reflecting the interests of students in practical problems and social issues regarding perennial problems which correspond to the characteristics and goals of the 2007 revised curriculum. This study was carried into a literature review and 406 questionnaires, filled out by the 9th grade middle school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, were used for analysis. The main results of this study are summarized as follows: First, six perennial problems are ascertained, Next, the middle school students were most interested in 27 items of practical problems such as mapping out their career path, self-improvement and interpersonal relations. And finally, the middle school students' important social interests are adolescence issues, job preference bias, career choice, suicide and addiction to computer, appearance and money management behavior, house ownership and conspicious consumption, and lack of time to spend with family. This study suggested the framework which corresponds to the characteristics and goals of the 2007 revised curriculum.

Compulsive consumption is regarded as a global phenomenon that can adversely affect consumer well-being. Although the topic has been studied in different cultural settings, we have seen relatively little theory development and explanations of compulsive behavior Nearly all previous empirical studies attempt to explain this behavior by correlating measures of compulsive behavior with independent variables taken within the same time frame. However, recent developments in social sciences suggest that such a phenomenon may best understood in the context of the person's earlier-in-life experiences. Using the life course paradigm as an overarching framework, the present research extends previous work on this topic. Following hypotheses were drawn from literature review: H1: The earlier in childhood and adolescence a person experiences family dislocation, the greater his or her likelihood of exhibiting compulsive behaviors in adulthood. H2: The earlier in life the young person experienced family dislocation, the greater the number of family disruption events the young person experienced prior entering adulthood years. H3: Family dislocation leads to (a) increased frequency of socio.oriented family communications and (b) decreased frequency of concept-oriented family communication. H4: Young adults who were raised in families characterized by a strong socio-oriented communication structure are more likely to exhibit compulsive consumption tendencies than those who were raised in families characterized by a weak socio-oriented family communication structure. H5: Young adults who were raised in families characterized by a strong concept-oriented communication structure are less likely to exhibit compulsive consumption tendencies than those who were raised in families characterized by a week concept-oriented family communication structure. H6: The relationship between family disruption events experienced during adolescence and perceived stressfulness of these events is moderated by (a) global family support, (b) emotional family support, and (c) material family support. Those reporting higher levels of family support as teenagers are less likely to report experiencing stress due to family disruption events. H7: Perceived stressfulness of family disruption events experienced during adolescent years are associated with compulsive consumption tendencies in early adulthood. H8: The greater the number of family disruption events young adults experienced during their adolescent years the more frequent was their communication about consumption with their peers. H9: The more frequent was the young persons' communication with their peers about consumption during their adolescent years, the more likely they are to report compulsive buying tendencies as young adults. We use a sample of 120 Thai undergraduate students attending classes taught in English as part of a four-year international program. Product-moment correlations, hierarchical regression analysis and partial correlation were used to analyze data. Results of testing hypotheses showed that hypothesis 2, 4, 7 and 9 were supported and hypothesis 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8 were not supported. Our study did not find a significant relationship between the age when a person experienced family dislocation and their compulsive behavior tendencies expressed as young adults. We did not find a significant relationship between family dislocation and family communication structures. But we found a significant positive relationship between socio-oriented communication structure and compulsive buying and a significant relationship between our peer communication and compulsive buying measures. Also we found perceived stressfulness due to the disruptive events to have a significant positive relationship between the perceived stressfulness and compulsive buying. Implications from these findings, limitations of this research and future research suggestions were discussed.
The purpose of this study is to offer the basic materials for the development of nutrition education programs for youth and help domestic science teachers in schools implement effective dietary education by examining youth's purchase behavior of processed foods. As a result of figuring out youth's purchasing behavior of processed food and the difference in accordance with social, demographic variables, they considered taste and price mainly when choosing foods. The results showed that what they consider important when checking food display information was shelf life and price. It was observed that 56% of them check additives display information in food when purchasing processed food. In terms of demographic factors, the more likely they are a girl student, the lower grader they are, and the lower price they purchase processed food at, the better they used the nutritional knowledge learned in school. Based upon these results, it is necessary to offer the consumer's level of education and training for their demands by accurately figuring out youth's purchasing behavior of processed foods. For this, home economics education must allow youth to lead healthy diet by implementing a systematic and professional training on food additives on a basis of the research and utilization of a variety of educational media and teaching and learning methods.

This study was to investigate the perception of middle school students on the management of the curriculum $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$ according to the 7th National Curriculum. The subjects were 494 third grade students from middle schools located in Seoul, in order to inquire into their perceptions through the questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed with the descriptive statistics, Pearson Chi-Square, t-test, and one-way ANOVA by SPSS Win ver. 12.0 program. The major findings were as follows: Firstly there were gender differences on the interests for the subject of $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$. The girls who were interested in the subject were much more numerous than the boys, but only in the technology part of it, the boys were more interested than the girls. Secondly the students recognized that the experiment & practice for learning $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$ was important. They, however, recognized that its operation in school was not enough to understand the contents. The higher a student viewed the importance of the experiment & practice on $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$, the higher his perception of its usefulness in real life. Thirdly the highest ranking of its usefulness for the contents of the subject $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$ was identified as 'the Computer and Information Processing' and 'the Nutrients and Diet in Adolescence'. These findings suggest that the importance of the experiment & practice was enhanced and the gender differences on the usefulness of the experiment & practice on the each units were considered in order to increase the degree of the students' interest and usefulness of the $\ulcorner$Technology Home Economics$\lrcorner$
