Findings reveal that management commitment dominate improvement factors for building projects, although construction firms frequently mentioned the team work in design firms. Significant improvements in building projects are obtained when college programs include courses that treat the administrative aspects involved in the building project and that continuing education programs cover quality training. Eighteen predominant selection factors are identified, ranked and correlated.

The universities establish long-range plan of information systems in an effort to provide just-in-time, useful, efficient and effective information services to their members such as professors, students, and staffs when carrying out various organizational activities. The university information systems started from the primitive computer-based application, extended to the administrative and educational e-transformation, even to the virtual university concept. Through an empirical analysis and complementary case examples, the current study carefully chose three Korean universities according to their chronological importance, that have undergone the information systems planning process years from 1995 to 2001. These universities then, were compared in terms of the information technology architecture: the information architecture, infra architecture, and information management architecture. These three areas of system were cross-examined under the consideration of the evolution of information technology architecture, and its impact on the development of university e-transformation. As part of a fulfillment plan to satisfy the needs of customers of current trend, it is evident that the university e-transformation provides a stepladder to highly competitive, first class university in the market, through achieving the educational advancement, research enhancement, and administrative efficiency. The result of the study analysis indicates that, of the three architectures examined, the weakness showed in the information management architecture. Therefore it is crucial for the university staffs, managers and professors to understand the significance of the successful implementation of the information system and its maintenance. Our study certainly will act as a catalyst for the promotion of the future university e-transformation projects.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the priority items according to attributes and analyze the differences between the importance and satisfaction rates through the IPA for the university service. The results in the study are as follow: First, from the result of the factorial analysis, 5 factors are included First, the possibilities for development of universities, universities' physical environment, Universities' administrative (employee) services, majors' educational services, and majors' laboratory environment. Second, as the total average value for important attributes of the universities is 3.50 and the average value of satisfaction is 2.91, there were significant differences (p<0.001). Third, in the analytical result of IPA, the 1st quadrant includes faster developments than other universities, departments' characterization, etc. The 2nd quadrant includes the convenience to issue all kinds of certificates, kindness of administrative staffs, etc. The 3rd quadrant includes convenience of the procedure to improve unsatisfactory services, development efforts to benchmark advanced universities, etc. Finally, the 4th quadrant includes heavy investments in education and environment, efforts to reflect students' demands, and needs, etc. Even though the importance of research subjects related to university services for these attributes is high, they are not fully satisfied, and there are plenty of dissatisfied students. Therefore, urgent supplementations to increase students' satisfaction rates are important. Form the results of the study, it has been found that urgent efforts to improve satisfaction rates of university students who major in catering cooking in the university services are essential and special plans to build competitive systems which can provide high-quality services are also necessary.

  • This study examined the effects of prompts, environmental alteration, and feedback on reduction of food wastes. The study was conducted at a student restaurant at a university. Subjects in this study were college students, faculty members and administrative staffs at the university. An A-BC-BCD-BC within subject design was employed. After baseline phase(A), prompts and environmental alteration were manipulated in the second phase(BC). In the next phase(BCD), feedback was added in addition to the prompts and environmental alteration. In the last phase(B), all the treatments except environmental alteration were withdrawn. The dependent variables n cluded (1) total weight of food waste per day, (2), the weight of food waster per person, (3) the ratio of food waste to total food served per day, (4) total amount of monetary value for food waste to total food served per day. The results indicated that prompts and environmental alteration were affective in reducing food wastes. Thus, measures of all the dependent variables decreased when environmental alteration and prompts were manupulated. However, when feedbacks were added to prompts and environmental alteration, the additional effect of feedback was not observed. The implications and limitations of these findings were discussed and the directions of future studies were also proposed.
