  • An Ad-hoc network which is composed of mobile nodes only should be able to distribute the traffic load evenly to the network so that the network could utilize its resources effectively However, most of researches have been concentrated in channel establishment level, not in channel reestablishment level. In this paper, the existing AODV routing protocol has been modified and upgraded to disperse the traffic load more quickly A node which uses the modified AODV routing protocol proposed in this paper broadcasts a control message to adjacent nodes, which announces congestion around the node. In order to verify the performance improvement of the proposed protocol, simulation study has been carried out by using ns2 simulator.

  • This paper represents an analog predistortion linearizer for the high power amplifier with low memory effect. The high power amplifier is implemented using a 90-W peak envelope power(PEP) LDMOSFET at 2.14-GHz and an envelope short matching topology is applied at the active ports to minimize the memory effect. The analog predistortion circuit comprises the fundamental path and the cuber and quintic generating circuits, whose amplitudes and phases can be controlled independently. The predistortion circuit is tested for two-tone and wide-band code division multiple access(WCDMA) 4FA signals. For the WCDMA signal, the adjacent channel leakage ratios(ACLRs) at 5 MHz offset are improved by 12.4 dB at average output powers of 36 dBm and 42 dBm.

  • The RF Module which can be adjusted for a digital terrestrial and multi standard(DVB-C, ISDB-T, DVB-H) reception is developed. The Module by single conversion does divide a broadband(45MHz~860MHz) broadcasting channels into three-bands(UHF, VHF_HIGH, VHF_LOW) to satisfy some electrical performances such as image signal rejection, phase noise, IF flatness etc and digital reception specifications such as analog and digital adjacent channel protection, co-channel protection which is important in environment with co-existence both analog and digital broadcasting systems.

  • The IEEE 802.22 standard is being developed with the target of improving the efficiency of spectrum utilization and importing the new wireless communication service. The WRAN standard based on Cognitive Radio is being processed for sharing TV bands. In this paper, the efficient spectrum allocation scheme and the optimal power allocation scheme, Partial Constant Power Water Filling (PCPWF), are proposed to maximize the channel capacity and spectrum efficiency and minimize the interference between adjacent cells. And we maximize the system throughput and fairness by using proposed dynamic cell plan that efficiently allocates channel. The results of the simulations are presented to verify the utilization of our proposed scheme.

  • We describe the development of a prototype multi-channel electrical impedance tomography (EIT) system. The EIT system can be equipped with either a single-ended current source or a balanced current source. Each current source can inject current between any chosen pair of electrodes. In order to reduce the data acquisition time, we implemented multiple digital voltmeters simultaneously acquiring and demodulating voltage signals. Each voltmeter measures a differential voltage between a fixed pair of adjacent electrodes. All voltmeters are configured in a radially symmetric architecture to optimize the routing of wires and minimize cross-talks. To maximize the signal-to-noise ratio, we implemented techniques such as digital waveform generation, Howland current pump circuit with a generalized impedance converter, digital phase-sensitive demodulation, tri-axial cables with both grounded and driven shields, and others. The performance of the EIT system was evaluated in terms of common-mode rejection ratio, signal-to-noise ratio, and reciprocity error. Future design of a more innovative EIT system including battery operation, miniaturization, and wireless techniques is suggested.

  • Error control and concealment in video communication is becoming increasingly important because transmission errors can cause single or multiple loss of macroblocks in video delivery over unreliable channels such as wireless networks and the internet. This paper describes a temporal error concealment by postprocessing. Lost image blocks are overlapped block motion compensated (OBMC) using median of motion vectors from adjacent blocks at the decoder. The results show a significant improvement over zero motion error concealment and other temporal concealment methods such as Motion Vector Rational Interpolation or Side Match Criterion OBMC by 1.4 to 3.5㏈ gain in PSNR. We present experimental results showing improvements in PSNR and computational complexity.

  • This paper presents a lumped model to predict crosstalk characteristics of thermally driven inkjet print heads. Using the lumped R-C model, heating characteristics of the head are predicted to be in agreement with IR temperature measurements. The inter-channel crosstalk is simulated using the lumped R-L network. The values of viscous flow resistance, R and flow inertance, L of connecting channels are adjusted to accord with the 3-D numerical simulation results of three adjacent jets. The crosstalk behaviors of a back shooter head as well as a top shooter head have been investigated. Predictions of the proposed lumped model on the meniscus oscillations are consistent with numerical simulation results. Comparison of the lumped model with experimental results identifies that abnormal two-drop ejection phenomena are related to the increased meniscus oscillations because of the more severe crosstalk effects at higher printing speeds. The degree of crosstalk has been quantified using cross-correlations between neighboring channels and a critical channel dimension for acceptable crosstalk has been proposed and validated with the numerical simulations. Our model can be used as a design tool for a better design of thermal inkjet print heads to minimize crosstalk effects.
