Bistable property in a splay cell with a chiral additive

  • The bistability in a chiral-splay nematic liquid crystal cell, which is obtained by adding a chiral additive to a splay cell, is proposed. In this paper, we describe a new horizontal way of switching between the two states of the bistable chiral-splay cell, one state being characterized by a non-twisted director field with splay, the second state showing a director-field with $180^{\circ}C$ twist.

  • Experimental results on the effect of $SiO_2$ addition to Bi based ZnO varistor show that secondary phases in microstructure and nonlinear coefficient are increased, and that leakage current is decreased with $SiO_2$ additive content. The varistor with 0.1 mol%-$SiO_2$ additive exhibits lower resistive current than other specimen at ($E_{1mA}$ x 0.6) applied voltage and temperature of $115^{\circ}C$ for 350h.

  • 디지털 영상 처리 기술이 발전함에 따라 에지는 여러 응용 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 기존의 에지검출 방법에는 마스크를 이용한 Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian 연산자 등이 있다. 이러한 기존의 방법은 구현이 간단하나, AWGN(additive white Gaussian noise)이 첨가된 영상에서 에지 검출의 오류가 발생한다. 따라서 이와 같은 기존의 방법의 단점을 보완하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 변형된 마스크를 이용한 에지 검출 알고리즘을 제안하였으며, 제안한 알고리즘은 AWGN 환경에서 우수한 에지검출 특성을 나타내었다.

NCZF의 특성에 미치는 B-Bi-Zn의 영향 (The effect of B-Bi-Zn on properties of NZCF)

  • NCZF ferrites doped with B-Bi-Zn(35-25-40) glass ceramics were prepared to investigate the magnetic properties. The XRD peaks of all of samples were observed only spinel phase. As the additive increased at sintering temperature 750$^{\circ}C$ and 850$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours, the density and shrinkage of the samples increased until 5.28 g/cm$^3$ and 20% respectively. And other samples showed constant trends having the density about 5.4g/cm$^3$. According to SEM images the growth of grain progressed rapidly at sintering temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. Increasing the additive initial permeability and complex permeability decreased. The high values of complex permeability as a function of frequency showed that NCZF doped with 3 wt%, 5wt%, samples at sintered temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$/3h and 900$^{\circ}C$/3h.

슬러지 및 안정화시킨 하수 슬러지의 물리적.역학적 특성 (Physical and Mechanical Properties of Waterwaste Sludge and Stabilized Sludge)

  • An experimental investigation was carried out to study the feasibility of using the stabiliozed sludge, as a backfill and cutoff-water materials for embankment structures. For stabilizing of sludge, hydrated lime and quick lime were used as additive, and a series of tests were performed on the sludge and the stabilized sludge to examine their physical and mechanical properties , compaction, compressive strength, hydraulic conuctivity and consolidation characteristics. From the test results, physical and mechanical properties of the stabilized sludge were improved as compared with the sludge. Especially from the viewpoint of physcial property, consolidation or settlement and cutoff-water, quick lime is more effective than the hydrated lime as a stabilization addtive. But, viewpoint of compaction and shear strength, hydrated lime is more effective than the quick lime as a atabilization additive. As a result of this study, it was found that the stabilized sludge can be developed the backfill and cutoff-water materials, improved the stabilizing method of sludge.

  • In this paper, we propose the bistability the bistability in a chiral-splay nematic liquid crystal cell, which is obtained by adding a chiral additive to a splay cell and introduce a novel switching method for the bistable chiral-splay nematic cell in order to transit the LC director between the non-twisted state with splay and the 180$^{\circ}$ twist state.

  • In this paper, we investigated dielectric and insulation characteristics of epoxy resin which includes elastomers to improve mechanical property, as varied additive elastomer contents with 5[phr], 10[phr], 15[phr], and 20[phr]. We measured permittivity and tan $\delta$ at 1kHz of signal frequency and room temperature. And we also measured BVD(break-down voltage) and volume resistivities. According to the experimental results, it is appeared that when the additive elastomer contents are increasing, permittivity, volume resistivity, BVD and volume resistance are decreasing because elastomer remains inferior to epoxy resin on electrical properties.

  • Let 𝒜 be a Banach algebra. An element a ∈ 𝒜 has generalized Drazin inverse if there exists b ∈ 𝒜 such that b = bab, ab = ba, a - a2b ∈ 𝒜qnil. New additive results for the generalized Drazin inverse of an operator over a Banach space are presented. we extend the main results of a paper of Shakoor, Yang and Ali from 2013 and of Wang, Huang and Chen from 2017. Appling these results to 2×2 operator matrices we also generalize results of a paper of Deng, Cvetković-Ilić and Wei from 2010.

Enhancement of hydrophilicity and anti-fouling property of polysulfone membrane using amphiphilic nanocellulose as hydrophilic modifier

  • In the present work, we present a new effective hydrophilicity modifier for polysulfone (PSf) membrane. Firstly, amphiphilic nanocellulose (ANC) with different substitution degrees (SD) was synthesized by esterification reaction with nanocellulose (NC) and dodecyl succinic anhydride (DDSA). The SD and morphology of ANC were characterized by titration method and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Then, the polysulfone (PSf)/ANC blend membranes were prepared via an immersion phase inversion method. The influence of SD on the morphology, structure and performances of PSf/ANC blend membrane were carefully investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), mechanical property test, contact angle measuring instrument and filtration experiment. The results showed that the mechanical property, hydrophilicity and anti-fouling property of all the PSf/ANC blend membranes were higher than those of pure PSf membrane and PSf/NC membrane, and the membrane properties were increased with the increasing of SD values. As ANC-4 has the highest SD value, PSf/ANC-4 membrane exhibited the optimal membrane properties. In conclusion, the prepared ANC can be used as an additive to improve the hydrophilicity and anti-fouling properties of polysulfone (PSf) membrane.
