  • In this study, finite elements addition and removal method by stress range is applied to optimize shapes in structures, without using classical and numerical optimization methods and search methods. The program based on this algorithm is developed and compared to theoritial results with considerable accuracy. Classical methods need mesh generation for finite element analysis for every iteration, the developed method needs updated mesh data such as coordinates of nodes, elements connectivity, and loads on nodes. And other tools of finite element analysis can be in use as a black box to interface with this program.

  • In this paper, FETI(Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting) method is introduced in order to improve numerical efficiency of Staggered method. The porous media theory, the Staggered method and the FETI method are briefly introduced in this paper. In addition, we account for the MPI(Message Passing Interface) library for parallel analysis, and the proposed combined Staggered method with FETI method. Finally Lagrange multipliers and CG(Conjugate Gradient) algorithm to solve decomposed domain are proposed, and then the proposed method is verified to be numerically efficient by MPI library.

Compined Effect of Brining in Hot Solution and Salts Mixture Addition for Improvement of Storage Stability of Dongchimi (동치미의 저장성 향상을 위한 열수 담금 및 염혼합물 첨가의 병용효과)

  • Three different fermentation methods of dongchimi, a Korean radish roots pickle, were compared with conventional method of brining in 7% NaCl solution at $25^{\circ}C$ in order to improve the storage stability. The methods studied were addition of KCI and $CaCl_2 into the hot ($90^{\circ}C$) salt solutin (method A), addition of salts mixture of phosphates (method B) and salts mixture of phosphates, nitrite and citrate (method C) into half fermented dongchimi solution (pH 4.5~4.7) prepared by the method A. It was found from results that the method B and C reduced the decreasing rate of pH very significantly by more than 2~2.5 folds, while total a measured higher values for the method B and C. Changes in hardness of dongchimi showed little diffeence to control. The concentration of reducing sugar in the first day dongchimi solution prepared by hot brining method was measured much higher than those of control which was followed by rapid decrease. Organoleptic comparion showed a clear effect of salts mixtures by receiving the significantly higher scores in fresh dongchimi flavor and lower values in yeast moldy and sour flavor for the method B and C when those were compared to control.

Breathability of Breathable Fabrics for Sportswear according to Measuring Method (투습도 측정방법에 따른 스포츠웨어용 투습직물의 투습특성)

  • This study investigated water vapor permeability of the 73 breathable fabrics for sports-wear according to the materials, finishing methods and fabric structural parameters. The water vapor permeability by KS K 0594 method of PET breathable fabric was superior than that of nylon one, in addition, water vapor permeability of coated or laminated breathable fabrics were higher than those of hot melt or dot laminated fabrics. The water vapor permeability of breathable fabric was dependent on the thickness, weight and density, which was consistent with measuring method. However, water vapor permeability according to materials and finishing method showed different results according to measuring method. The correlation coefficient of WVP of PET breathable fabrics between ISO and KS K measuring methods was -0.83 and the correlation coefficient of WVP of coated breathable fabrics was -0.72 and -0.71 for KS K and ASTM and -0.72 for KS K and ISO in hot melt laminated breathable fabrics. According to regression analysis, WVP of PET breathable fabric by both KSK and ISO measuring methods was highly dependent upon on the density and weight. In addition, WVP of hot melt laminated breathable fabric was highly dependent upon thickness, weight and density. Therefore, relevant measuring method for WVP of breathable fabrics has to be adopted to measure precise breathability.

Efficient Operator Design Using Variable Groups (변수그룹을 이용한 효율적인 연산기 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a partial product addition method using variable groups in the design of operators such as multipliers and digital filters. By this method, full adders can be replaced with simple logic circuits. To show the efficiency of the proposed method, we applied the method to the design of squarers and precomputer blocks of FIR filters. In case of 7 bit and 8 bit squarers, it is shown that by the proposed method, area, power and delay time can be reduced up to {22.1%, 20.1%, 14%} and {24.7%, 24.4%, 6.7%}, respectively, compared with the conventional method. The proposed FIR precomputer circuit leads to up to {63.6%, 34.4%, 9.8%} reduction in area, power consumption and propagation delay compared with previous method.

Demosaicking of Hexagonally-Structured Bayer Color Filter Array (육각형 구조의 베이어 컬러 필터 배열에 대한 디모자익킹)

  • This paper describes a demosaicking method for hexagonally-structured color filter array. Demosaicking is essential to acquire color images using color filter array (CFA) in single sensor imaging. Thus, CFA patterns have been discussed in order to improve image quality in single sensor imaging after the Bayer pattern are introduced. Advancements in imaging sensor technology recently introduce a hexagonal CFA pattern. The hexagonal CFA can be considered to be a 45-degree rotational version of the Bayer pattern, thus demosaicking can be implemented by an existing method with backward and forward 45-degree rotations. However, this approach requires heavy computing power and memory in image sensing devices because of the image rotations. To overcome this problem, we proposes a demosaicking method for a hexagonal Bayer CFA without rotations. In addition, we introduce a weighting parameter in our demosaicking method to improve image quality and to unifying exiting method with our method. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is superior to conventional methods in terms of PSNR. In addition, some optimized values for the weighting parameter are provided experimentally.

Monte Carlo burnup and its uncertainty propagation analyses for VERA depletion benchmarks by McCARD

  • For an efficient Monte Carlo (MC) burnup analysis, an accurate high-order depletion scheme to consider the nonlinear flux variation in a coarse burnup-step interval is crucial accompanied with an accurate depletion equation solver. In a Seoul National University MC code, McCARD, the high-order depletion schemes of the quadratic depletion method (QDM) and the linear extrapolation/quadratic interpolation (LEQI) method and a depletion equation solver by the Chebyshev rational approximation method (CRAM) have been newly implemented in addition to the existing constant extrapolation/backward extrapolation (CEBE) method using the matrix exponential method (MEM) solver with substeps. In this paper, the quadratic extrapolation/quadratic interpolation (QEQI) method is proposed as a new high-order depletion scheme. In order to examine the effectiveness of the newly-implemented depletion modules in McCARD, four problems in the VERA depletion benchmarks are solved by CEBE/MEM, CEBE/CRAM, LEQI/MEM, QEQI/MEM, and QDM for gadolinium isotopes. From the comparisons, it is shown that the QEQI/MEM predicts ${k_{inf}}^{\prime}s$ most accurately among the test cases. In addition, statistical uncertainty propagation analyses for a VERA pin cell problem are conducted by the sensitivity and uncertainty and the stochastic sampling methods.

Studies on the Removal of Ammonia in Alcohol (주정중의 Ammonia 제거에 관한 지견)

  • In view of the fact that the technical grade alcohol sold in Korea contains considerable amount of ammonia (average 10 ppm), the author has investigated a new method of removal of ammonia by the addition of dl-tartaric acid. It was found that the ammonia contained in sample alcohol was removed completely, by the addition of dl-tartaric acid, to form ammonium bitartrate.

  • We propose an algorithm which processes the floating-point $n_{addition}$traction and rounding in parallel. It also processes multiplication and rounding in the same way. The hardware model is presented that minimizes the delay time to get results for all the rounding modes defined in the IEEE Standards. An unified method to get the three bits(L, G, S)for the rounding is described. We also propose an unified guide line to determine the 1-bit shift for the post-normalization in the Floating-point $n_{addition}$traction and multiplication.

  • Very recently, by employing an addition theorem for the con-fluent hypergeometric function, Paris has obtained a Kummer-type trans-formation for a $_2F_2(x)$ hypergeometric function with general parameters in the form of a sum of $_2F_2(-x)$ functions. The aim of this note is to derive his result without using the addition theorem.
