An Automatic Fuzzy Rule Extraction using CFCM and Fuzzy Equalization Method (CFCM과 퍼지 균등화를 이용한 퍼지 규칙의 자동 생성)

  • In this paper, an efficient fuzzy rule generation scheme for Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS) using the conditional fuzzy-means(CFCM) and fuzzy equalization(FE) methods is proposed. Usually, the number of fuzzy rules exponentially increases by applying the gird partitioning of the input space, in conventional ANFIS approaches. Therefore, CFCM method is adopted to render the clusters which represent the given input and output fuzzy and FE method is used to automatically construct the fuzzy membership functions. From this, one can systematically obtain a small size of fuzzy rules which shows satisfying performance for the given problems. Finally, we applied the proposed method to the truck backer-upper control and Box-Jenkins modeling problems and obtained a better performance than previous works.

Input Variables Selection by Principal Component Analysis and Mutual Information Estimation (주요성분분석과 상호정보 추정에 의한 입력변수선택)

  • This paper presents an efficient input variable selection method using both principal component analysis(PCA) and adaptive partition mutual information(AP-MI) estimation. PCA which is based on 2nd order statistics, is applied to prevent a overestimation by quickly removing the dependence between input variables. AP-MI estimation is also applied to estimate an accurate dependence information by equally partitioning the samples of input variable for calculating the probability density function. The proposed method has been applied to 2 problems for selecting the input variables, which are the 7 artificial signals of 500 samples and the 24 environmental pollution signals of 55 samples, respectively. The experimental results show that the proposed methods has a fast and accurate selection performance. The proposed method has also respectively better performance than AP-MI estimation without the PCA and regular partition MI estimation.

  • Although spatio-temporal databases have received considerable attention recently, there has been little work on processing range sum queries on the historical records of moving objects despite their importance. Since to answer range sum queries, the direct access to a huge amount of data incurs prohibitive computation cost, materialization techniques based on existing index structures are recently suggested. A simple but effective solution is to apply the materialization technique to the MVR-tree known as the most efficient structure for window queries with spatio-temporal conditions. However, the MVR-tree has a difficulty in maintaining pre-aggregated results inside its internal nodes due to cyclic paths between nodes. Aggregate structures based on other index structures such as the HR-tree and the 3DR-tree do not provide satisfactory query performance. In this paper, we propose a new indexing technique called the Adaptive Partitioned Aggregate R-Tree (APART) and query processing algorithms to efficiently process range sum queries in many situations. Experimental results show that the performance of the APART is typically above 2 times better than existing aggregate structures in a wide range of scenarios.

  • Quantile regression proposed by Koenker and Bassett (1978) is a statistical technique that estimates conditional quantiles. The advantage of using quantile regression is the robustness in response to large outliers compared to ordinary least squares(OLS) regression. A regression tree approach has been applied to OLS problems to fit flexible models. Loh (2002) proposed the GUIDE algorithm that has a negligible selection bias and relatively low computational cost. Quantile regression can be regarded as an analogue of OLS, therefore it can also be applied to GUIDE regression tree method. Chaudhuri and Loh (2002) proposed a nonparametric quantile regression method that blends key features of piecewise polynomial quantile regression and tree-structured regression based on adaptive recursive partitioning. Lee and Lee (2006) investigated wage determinants in the Korean labor market using the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS). Following Lee and Lee, we fit three kinds of quantile regression tree models to KLIPS data with respect to the quantiles, 0.05, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8, and 0.95. Among the three models, multiple linear piecewise quantile regression model forms the shortest tree structure, while the piecewise constant quantile regression model has a deeper tree structure with more terminal nodes in general. Age, gender, marriage status, and education seem to be the determinants of the wage level throughout the quantiles; in addition, education experience appears as the important determinant of the wage level in the highly paid group.

  • In this paper, we developed GridGML for efficiently supplying a GML and visualizing the map with partitioning map and caching method to a mobile device. In order to overcome the weighting of a file, which is the biggest weakness of a GML, GridGML extracts only the most necessary parts for the visualization of the map among GML attributes, and makes the file light as a class instance by applying an offset value. GridGML manages a partition based on the visualization area of a mobile device to visualize the map to a mobile device in real time, and transmits the partition area by serializing it for the benefit of transmission. Also, the received partition area is compounded in a mobile device and is visualized by being partitioned again as four visible areas based on the display of a mobile device. Then, the area is managed by applying a caching algorithm in consideration of repetitiveness for a received map for the efficient operation of resources. Also, in order to prevent the delay in transmission time as regards the instance density area of the map, an adaptive map partition mechanism is proposed for maintaining the transmission time uniformly.

Priority-based Unequal Error Protection Scheme of Data partitioned H.264 video with Hierarchical QAM

  • In this paper, we propose a priority-based unequal error protection scheme of data partitioned H.264/AVC video with hierarchical quadrature amplitude modulation. In order to map data with higher priority onto the most significant bits of QAM constellation points, a priority sorting method categorizes different data partitions according to the unequal importance factor of encoded video data in one group of pictures by evaluated the average distortion. Then we propose a hierarchical quadrature amplitude modulation arrangement with adaptive constellation distances, which takes into account the unequal importance of encoded video data and the channel status. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the received video quality by about 2 dB in PSNR comparing with the state-of-the-art unequal error protection scheme, and outperforms EEP scheme by up to 5 dB when the average channel SNR is low.

  • MPEG과 VCEG은 차세대 비디오 부호화 표준 기술 개발를 위한 JVET(Joint Video Exploration Team)을 구성하여 현재 비디오 표준화인 HEVC 대비 높은 부호화 효율을 목표로 연구를 진행하며 CfP(Call for Proposal) 단계를 진행 중이다. JVET의 공통 플랫폼인 JEM(Joint Exploration Test Model)은 HEVC의 quad-tree 기반 블록 분할 구조를 대신하여 더 많은 유연성을 제공하는 QTBT(Quad-tree plus binary-tree)가 적용되었다. QTBT는 화면 내 부호화 효율을 높이기 위한 하나의 방법으로 휘도와 색차 신호에 대해 분할된 블록 구조를 지원한다. 이러한 방법은 채널 간 블록 분할 모양이 동일하거나 비슷한 경우에 중복되는 블록 분할 신호가 발생할 수 있는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 화면 내 부호화에서 채널 간 유사도 비교를 이용하여 적응형 색차 블록 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법의 실험 결과로 JEM 6.0과 비교하여 CfE(Call for Evidence) 영상에서 평균 0.28%의 Y BD-rate 감소와 함께 평균 124.5%의 부호화 복잡도 증가를 확인하였다.

Power peaking factor prediction using ANFIS method

  • Power peaking factors (PPF) is an important parameter for safe and efficient reactor operation. There are several methods to calculate the PPF at TRIGA research reactors such as MCNP and TRIGLAV codes. However, these methods are time-consuming and required high specifications of a computer system. To overcome these limitations, artificial intelligence was introduced for parameter prediction. Previous studies applied the neural network method to predict the PPF, but the publications using the ANFIS method are not well developed yet. In this paper, the prediction of PPF using the ANFIS was conducted. Two input variables, control rod position, and neutron flux were collected while the PPF was calculated using TRIGLAV code as the data output. These input-output datasets were used for ANFIS model generation, training, and testing. In this study, four ANFIS model with two types of input space partitioning methods shows good predictive performances with R2 values in the range of 96%-97%, reveals the strong relationship between the predicted and actual PPF values. The RMSE calculated also near zero. From this statistical analysis, it is proven that the ANFIS could predict the PPF accurately and can be used as an alternative method to develop a real-time monitoring system at TRIGA research reactors.

  • Sort-last parallel rendering using a cluster of GPUs has been widely used as an efficient method for visualizing large- scale volume datasets. The performance of this method is constrained by load balancing when data parallelism is included. In previous works static partitioning could lead to self-balance when only task level parallelism is included. In this paper, we present a load balancing scheme that adapts to the characteristic of volume dataset when data parallelism is also employed. We effectively combine the hierarchical data structures (octree and BSP tree) in order to skip empty regions and distribute workload to corresponding rendering nodes. Moreover, we also exploit a 3D clustering method to determine visibility order and save the AGP bandwidths on each rendering node. Experimental results show that our scheme can achieve significant performance gains compared with traditional static load distribution schemes.

  • A method for the automatic segmentation of speech signals is described. The method is dedicated to the construction of a large database for a Text-To-Speech (TTS) synthesis system. The main issue of the work involves the refinement of an initial estimation of phone boundaries which are provided by an alignment, based on a Hidden Market Model(HMM). Multi-layer perceptron (MLP) was used as a phone boundary detector. To increase the performance of segmentation, a technique which individually trains an MLP according to phonetic transition is proposed. The optimum partitioning of the entire phonetic transition space is constructed from the standpoint of minimizing the overall deviation from hand labelling positions. With single speaker stimuli, the experimental results showed that more than 95% of all phone boundaries have a boundary deviation from the reference position smaller than 20 ms, and the refinement of the boundaries reduces the root mean square error by about 25%.
