Incorporating proprietary existing it solutions like legacy systems or vendor specific with new technologies is an expensive and time consuming task. Such situations take place due to the lack of ability of proprietary software to cooperate with other parties or to cooperation only with specific vendor products. Such a situation is undesirable and causes a prolonged adaptation period for new applications. This thesis is to show the new approach to creation of Internet applications in Service Oriented Architecture through loose coupling, introduces fare more flexibility into a system composed of connected applications. This approach allows one to integrate through XML based Web Service and reuse a number of arbitrary services available over the Internet in a complex processes specified as a workflow model.

As the number of broadcasting channels and programs increases rapidly, the importance of personalized service has been emphasized. In this paper, we propose a practical framework of metadata broadcasting to provide personalized service according to user preferences and various terminal/network conditions. First, we present an overall system architecture of a metadata broadcasting system and then propose several core technologies (particularly in the parts of metadata authoring, metadata encoding, and metadata-based personalized content consumption). For interoperability, the proposed solution is designed to be compliant with the relevant standards of the TV-Anytime Forum, MPEG-7 Systems, and MPEG-2 Systems. Considering a home network environment, we also propose a metadata-based content adaptation scheme. Each component technology has been implemented individually, integrated into an end-to-end prototype broadcasting system, and successfully tested with a set of personalized service scenarios that are also developed in this study.

Video telephony is a representative service in 3G mobile network. And there have been efforts to improve quality of video telephony service in different fields. In Korea, the leading mobile service provider SKTelecom and KTF service the WCDMA network as 3G mobile network. Now, more than a million people is using the network. In this paper, we study about video telephony over WCDMA network. and propose error minimizing algorithm using cross-layer adaptation between physical layer and video codec. We simulated 3G-324M protocol with MPEG-4 video codec, and simulation results show suggested algorithm improve packet transmission rate for improving quality of video telephony service.

Service robots providing services according to user's needs in dynamically changing environments should be able to utilize external services such as cloud services. Cloud services are, however, changing and expanding continuously and thus the interface to the services must be general and flexible to adapt to the changes of the functionality and data of the services. In order to facilitate the adaptation of the interface to the changes, a model-based general interface to various cloud services is proposed. In this approach, a general and extensible interface is realized by defining standard service profiles that can be easily extended to adapt to the changed services. Experiments with intelligent service robots show satisfying results exhibiting flexible adaptations to new or changed external services.

The purposes of this study were to (1) identify foreigners’ evaluation of service performance, (2) define foreigners’ needs for each segment of Korean traditional restaurants, and (3) plan the adaptation strategies for Korean traditional restaurants on foreign countries. From April to July, 2005, 542 foreigners responded to an individual survey. Statistical analyses on SPSS 12.0 for Windows were performed on the survey data using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, independent-samples t-test and ANOVA. The major findings from the study are as follows. First, among all the attributes, ‘Offer free additional side dishes’ scored the highest, followed by ‘taste of food is good’ and ‘temperature of food is proper’. Second, factor analysis classified the service attributes into four factors in the following order of importance: menu, sanitation, service, and facility and atmosphere. Finally, foreigner groups categorized by their general characteristics, including demographics, showed statistically differences in their evaluation. In consequence, the research findings suggest that operators of Korean traditional restaurants should understand different customers’ needs within and between customer segments.

As the degree of economic development of society increases, the maintenance issues on the existing social overhead capital becomes essential. Accordingly, the adaptation of the concept of Level of service in highway maintenance is indispensable. It is also crucial to manage and perform the service level such as road assets to provide universal services to users. In this regards, the purpose of this study is to improve the maintenance service rating model and to focus on the assessment items and weights among the improvements. Particularly, in determining weights, an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is performed based on the survey response results. After then, this study conducts unsupervised neural network models such as Self-Organizing Map (SOM) and Davies-Bouldin (DB) Index to divide proper sub-groups and determine priorities. This paper identifies similar cases by grouping the results of the responses based on the similarity of the survey responses. This can effectively support decision making in general situations where many evaluation factors need to be considered at once, resulting in reasonable policy decisions. It is the process of using advanced technology to find optimized management methods for maintenance.

Software product line engineering is an approach to creating core assets by systematically exploits common that can be highly reusableand different characteristics in related system families that is domain. By adapting this approachin object and component paradigm, software productivity is extended. Recently, Software development paradigm is changed to service oriented paradigm which is using services that are core assets. Therefore, to develop service oriented software more flexible, systematic and to enhance business agility about business changes, we need adaptation of product line to creation of services that are core assets. In this paper, we propose an approach to create and specify domain service through combine of product line and service oriented paradigm. Domain service explicitly specifies commonality and variability by domain service common/optional property variability, operation type variability, message type variability. By using this approach, it can support efficient and flexible service oriented development by producing various services through customization of domain service for the purpose.

본 논문의 폭주적인(bursty) 트래픽을 생성하는 스트리밍에서 사용자가 요구하는 최소 품질 (Quality of Service)의 보장 및 공정한 대역폭 활용을위하여 개선된 대역폭 적응 기법을 제안한다. LAN상의 서버/클라이언트 유니캐스트 환경에서 수행된 시뮬레이션은 제안한 기법에 의한 전송율의 패턴이 네트워크의 일시적인 혼잡에 의한 영향이 적고 안정하며 대역폭을 공유하는 기타 커넥션들에게 공정하도록 대역폭을 활용함을 보여준다. 제안한 대역폭 적응 기법에 사용한 윈도우 기반 전송율 추정은 윈도우 크기에 따라 스트리밍 어플리케이션의 graceful degradation과 대역폭 활용의 trade-off을 갖고 있지만 세션 중 윈도우 크기를 상황에 따라 동적으로 변화시킴으로 요구사항을 충족하도록 응용될 수 있다.

AAL2 is an adaptation layer that is supposed to support delay-sensitive applications with low bit-rate, short, variable packet length in a bandwidth-efficient way. For the switching of AAL2 service channels, AAL2 network is needed, which consists of AAL2 switching nodes. In this paper, The architecture of the unit AAL2 switch is proposed and the performance is analyzed in the CDMA environment.

본 논문은 모바일 환경 적응 시스템을 대상으로 한 보안 서비스 프레임워크의 요구 사항을 제시하고, 제시된 요구 사항을 만족시킬 수 있도록 개발된 프레임워크의 특징과 구조에 대해서 살펴본다. 개발된 프레임워크는 사용자의 세션과 해당 사용자의 보안 정보를 연계할 수 있는 보안 어댑터 모듈, 사용자 단말의 특성을 이해할 수 있는 단말 프로파일 관리 모듈, 해당 사용자를 인증하고 인증된 사용자의 역할 정보에 기반 하여 시스템 자원의 접근을 통제할 수 있는 보안 서비스 모듈로 구성된다.
