  • The objective of this study was to investigate the actual state of the national project to promote the management of Forest Management Cooperatives(FMC). To fulfil the objective, we have reviewed recent statistics, regulations, and publications related with FMC and interviewed officials and professionals engaged in FMC-related organizations. Also cognition of members on the actual state of the management of FMC's was studied by a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was designed to get understandings of the general cognition of FMC's members associated with forest management and FMC's management activities. According to the results of the survey, more than 50% of members are not interested in forest management and most of them are not satisfied with the activity of FMC. In this paper, the results of analyses for the survey are discussed in detail. On the other hand, statistics indicate that the basic policy for FMC contributes to rapid growth in the number of local FMC's. However, the increase of FMC's has negative effect on management conditions of existing FMC's because of reduced budget allocation from the government. In addition, we concluded that some parts of current regulations for FMC are unfavorable in promoting the spontaneous management activities of local FMC's.

  • This study analysed the result of a survey answered by 120 technology teachers and 360 students from 357 middle schools in Seoul to find out the actual state of safety accidents during technology education activity course in the middle school class and safety awareness of the teachers and students. The result shows that many safety accidents happen during technology education activity course in the middle school class. However, most teachers and students have experienced safety accidents or dangerous situations more than once a year. Technology teachers had very low awareness on the states of retaining safety equipments. On the other hand, they were well aware of the importance of safety, including the actual states of safety education, knowledge of safety, and the will to join safety education. Therefore, safety awareness of technology teachers should be reinforced by the extension of safety training and the improvement of safe environments.

  • Subsequently in Korea product liability has been introduced. The position of consumers for defective products have been disadvantageous. Defective products should be broght under the law. Then, while consumers would be largely protected, a producer would take the heavy responsibility by law, Therefore, a producer would not be able to take countermeasures for product liability. Object of this paper to investigate and analyze the actual state of management for product liability in advanced countries, and to join it with our quality management system.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the direction and the actual state of environmental behavior of domestic enterprises. This study focused on strategies of environmental management, manufacturing process, product distribution, and waste collection of a enterprise with regard to environmental behavior. the survey was conducted on 30 enterprises, using open type questionnaires. Results of the study were as follows : 1. Enterprises recognized the importance of environmental behavior. their environmental strategies were great, but the actual behavior was poor. 2. In the manufacturing process, environmental behavior was not practised well. 3. In the product distribution and the waste collection phase, they made little efforts for the environmental preservation.

  • This paper describes a new method for enhancing the accuracy of network analysis applications in energy management systems. Topology processing, state estimation, power flow analysis, and contingency analysis play a key factor in the stable and reliable operation of power systems. In this respect, the aim of topology processing is to provide the electrical buses and the electrical islands with the actual state of the power system as input data. The results of topology processing is used to input of other applications. New method, which includes the topology error analysis based on inconsistency check, coherency check, bus mismatch check, and outaged device check is proposed to enhance the accuracy of network analysis. The proposed methodology is conducted by energy management systems and the Korean power systems have been utilized for the test systems.

  • This paper introduces a tool for predicting potential cost overrun during project execution and for quantifying the uncertainty on the expected project cost, which is occasionally changed by the unknown effects resulted from project's complications and unforeseen environments. The model proposed in this stuff is useful in diagnosing cost performance as a project progresses and in monitoring the changes of the uncertainty as indicators for a warning signal. This model is intended for the use by project managers who forecast the change of the uncertainty and its magnitude. The paper presents a mathematical approach for modifying the costs of incomplete work packages and project cost, and quantifying reduced uncertainties at a consistent confidence level as actual cost information of an ongoing project is obtained. Furthermore, this approach addresses the effects of actual informed data of completed work packages on the re-estimates of incomplete work packages and describes the impacts on the variation of the uncertainty for the expected project cost incorporating Multivariate Probabilistic Analysis (MPA) and Bayes' Theorem. For the illustration purpose, the Introduced model has employed an example construction project. The results are analyzed to demonstrate the use of the model and illustrate its capabilities.

  • Computer simulations designed to predict technical and financial returns of wind turbine installations are used to make informed investment decisions. These simulations used fixed values to represent real-world variables, while the actual projects can be highly uncertain, resulting in predictions that are less accurate and less useful. In this article, by modifying a popular wind power simulation sourced from the American Wind Energy Association to use Monte Carlo techniques in its calculations, the authors have proposed a way to improve simulation usability by producing probability distributions of likely outcomes, which can be used to draw broader, more useful conclusions about the simulated project.

  • Horizontal construction projects such as oil and gas pipeline projects typically involve repetitive-work activities with the same crew and equipment from one end of the project to the other. Repetitive scheduling also known as linear scheduling is known to have superior schedule management capabilities specifically for such horizontal construction projects. This study discusses on expanding the capabilities of repetitive scheduling to account for the variance in production rates and visual representation by developing an automated alignment based linear scheduling program for applying temporal and spatial changes in production rates. The study outlines a framework to apply changes in productions rates when and where they will occur along the horizontal alignment of the project and illustrates the complexity of construction through the time-location chart through a new linear scheduling model, Linear Scheduling Model with Varying Production Rates (LSMVPR). The program uses empirically derived production rate equations with appropriate variables as an input at the appropriate time and location based on actual 750 mile natural gas liquids pipeline project starting in Wyoming and terminating in the center of Kansas. The study showed that the changes in production rates due to time and location resulted in a close approximation of the actual progress of work as compared to the planned progress and can be modeled for use in predicting future linear construction projects. LSMVPR allows the scheduler to develop schedule durations based on minimal project information. The model also allows the scheduler to analyze the impact of various routes or start dates for construction and the corresponding impact on the schedule. In addition, the graphical format lets the construction team to visualize the obstacles in the project when and where they occur due to a new feature called the Activity Performance Index (API). This index is used to shade the linear scheduling chart by time and location with the variation in color indicating the variance in predicted production rate from the desired production rate.

  • This study intends to investigate the actual state and problems of Outlet, and the research consumer's perception of Outlet. It affords a effective way to get rid of inventories for manufacture and to economize and rational buying for consumer. Ultimately trying to find a effective managing method of Outlet for both manufacturers and consumers. The result about research the actual sate of Outlet, there are affluent assortment, generous amount of merchandise and high discount rate in Kuro-dong Outlet stores, but stores' location is scattered that makes shopping environment inconvenient. It is not good condition of assortment, quantity and freshness of merchandise in Mungung-dong Outlet stores, but close proximity between stores and fancy shopping place make convenient shopping possible. Multi-discount stores dilute the fundumental of Qutlet with poor quantity and assortment of merchandise make man choices possible for consumer, but discount rate is lower for high management cost. The result about research the consumer's perception of Outlet shows that consumer have enough interest in Outlet, and intention to continue shopping in Outlet. Therefore we can expect continuous growth of Outlet. Also consumer is satisfied with price and quality of merchandise, but they are not satisfied with assortment of merchandise, expecially poorness in sizes.
