Chattering-free sliding mode control with a fuzzy model for structural applications

  • This paper proposes a chattering-free sliding mode control (CFSMC) method for seismically excited structures. The method is based on a fuzzy logic (FL) model applied to smooth the control force and eliminate chattering, where the switching part of the control law is replaced by an FL output. The CFSMC is robust and keeps the advantages of the conventional sliding mode control (SMC), whilst removing the chattering and avoiding the time-consuming process of generating fuzzy rule basis. The proposed method is tested on an 8-story shear frame equipped with an active tendon system. Results indicate that the new method not only can effectively enhance the seismic performance of the structural system compared to the SMC, but also ensure system stability and high accuracy with less computational cost. The CFSMC also requires less amount of energy from the active tendon system to produce the desired structural dynamic response.

Design and Performance Analysis of Emulator for Standard Conformance Test of Active RFID

  • An active radio frequency identification (RFID) system has the advantages of a long identification distance and a good identification rate, overcoming passive RFID drawbacks. Therefore, interest in the development of active RFID systems has been gradually increasing in areas of harbor logistics and national defense. However, some identification failures between active RFID systems developed under the same standards have been reported, presumably due to a lack of development of accurate evaluation methods and test equipment. We present a realization of the hardware and software of an emulator to evaluate the standard conformance of an active RFID system in a fully anechoic chamber. The performance levels of the designed emulator are analyzed using Matlab/Simulink simulations, and the applicability of the emulator is verified by evaluating the standard conformance of a real active RFID tag. Finally, we propose a new evaluation method by incorporating a self-running test mode environment into the RFID tags to reduce testing time and increase testing accuracy. The application of the suggested method to actual tags improves measurement uncertainty by 0.56 dB over that obtained using existing methods.

  • 최신의 항공기 탑재 능동위상배열레이다(AESA radar; active electronically scanned array radar) 에서는 AESA 레이다의 빠른 전자적 빔 조향 능력과 효율적인 레이다 자원관리를 통해, 상황인식 능력을 극대화할 수 있는 동시운용(Interleaved) 모드가 운용된다. 본 논문에서는 AESA 레이다의 동시운용모드에 있어서 점진적인 성능 저하를 이루기 위한 모드별 자원 할당량을 결정하기 위해, 모드별 성능분석 항목을 식별하고 탐지거리 성능 측면에서 자원할당량에 따른 성능저하를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 실제 동시운용모드 설계 시 모드별 또는 탐색 영역 조합별로 성능 저하를 최소화 할 수 있는 부하량을 도출하였고, 단일모드 운용 대비 동시모드 운용 시 부하 관리 기반 빔 스케줄링 규칙에 대해 제안하였다.

단순 차량 모델을 이용한 능동 현가장치 제어기 설계 (Design of an Active Suspension Controller with Simple Vehicle Models)

  • This paper presents a method to design a controller for active suspension with 1-DOF decoupled models. Three 1-DOF decoupled models describing vertical, roll and pitch motions are used to design a controller in order to generate a vertical force, roll and pitch moments, respectively. These control inputs are converted into active suspension forces with geometric relationship. To design a controller, a sliding mode control is adopted. Frequency domain analysis and simulation on vehicle simulation software, CarSim$^{(R)}$, show that the proposed method is effective for ride comfort.

  • This paper presents a pseudo-sensor-output-feedback(PSOF) method for the vibration suppression of the flexible piezoelectric smart structures. This method reduces the modeling errors using pseudo sensors in the output equation formulation. It also reduces computation time in practice. since the output equation does not need the state observer required in the state space equation. Experimental works are performed for the validation of theoretical predictions with the piezoelectric sensor and actuator bonded on the cantilever beam. An algorithm based on the sliding mode control theory is developed and analyzed for the robustness to the modeling errors and parameter uncertainties. This study also discusses the characteristics of the active and semi-active systems.

  • This paper presents a novel active common-mode EMI filter for the PWM inverter application. The proposed filter is based on the current sensing and compensation circuit and it utilizes a fast transistor amplifier for the current compensation. The amplifier utilizes an isolated low-voltage dc power supply for its biasing and it is possible to construct the active filter independent of the source voltage of the equipment. Thus the proposed active filter can be used in any application regardless of its working voltage. The effectiveness of the proposed circuit is verified by experimental results.

  • In this paper, a novel active boost converter for SR drive is proposed. An active capacitor circuit is added in the front-end. Based on this active capacitor network, when boost switch turns off, this network seems as passive capacitor network. And the voltage of boost capacitor can keep balance with dc-link voltage automatically. In the capacitor network, discharging voltage is general dc-link voltage in parallel-connected capacitors; charging voltage is double dc-link voltage in series-connected capacitors. When boost switch turns on, two capacitors are connected in series, and discharging voltage is up to double dc-link voltage. So the fast excitation current can be obtained from this mode. Profit from fast excitation and fast demagnetization mode, the performance and output power can be improved. Some computer simulations are done to verify the performance of proposed converter.

  • Herbicides show many kinds of mode of action and are metabolized in many ways. These biochemical patterns are closely related to the efficacy or mammalian toxicity and also to the selectivity of environmental persistance of herbicides, respectively. In this short review, oxygenase will be discussed as to the metabolisms of monuron, EPTC and bensulfuron methyl, and active oxygens will be reviewed from the standpoint of the mode of action of paraquat and diphenylether herbicides.

  • The goal of this paper is to present instantaneous compensating power flow of active power filters(APFs) by graphical method that could be practicable to compensate the power in both case of behaving in instantaneous rectifying mode and instantaneous inverting mode. To ensure the validity of the proposed method, computer simulation is achieved. Proposed method can be present more exquisite and physically meaningful power flow than conventional method in instantaneous compensating power flow Graph of APFs.
