This paper presents vibration control of an active hybrid engine mount featuring magneto-rheological (MR) fluid and a piezostack actuator. On the basis of the conventional passive rubber mount, MR fluid is adopted to improve isolation performance at resonant frequencies, whereas the piezostack actuator is adopted for performance improvement at non-resonant frequencies, especially at high frequencies. Based on some particular practical requirements of engine mounts, the proposed mount is designed and manufactured. The characteristics of rubber element, piezostack actuator and MR fluid are verified for system analysis and controller synthesis. The model of the proposed mount with a supported mass (engine) is established. In this work, a sliding mode controller is synthesized for the mount system to reduce vibrations transmitted from the engine in a wide frequency range. Computer simulations are performed to evaluate the performances of the proposed active engine mount in time and frequency domains.

The engine mount of vehicle systems is role of support engine mass and isolate noise and vibration from engine disturbance forces. One of attractive candidates to achieve this goai is to utilize a semi-active ER engine mount. By applying this, we can effectively control damping force and hence the noise and vibration by just controlling the intensity of electric field. However, control performance of the engine mount may be very sensitive to temperature variation during engine operation. In this work, we Investigate dynamic performances of ER engine mount with respect to the temperature variation. In order to undertake this, a flow-mode type of ER engine mount is designed and manufactured. Displacement transmissibility is experimentally and numerically evaluated as a function of the electric field. The ER engine mount is then incorporated with full-vehicle model in order to investigate vibration control performance. After formulating the governing equation of motion, a semi-active controller is designed. The controller is implemented through a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS), and control responses such as acceleration level at various engine speeds are evaluated in the frequency and time domains.

This paper investigates the performance of an electromagnetic type active control engine mount (ACM) recently developed in the laboratory. The ACM employs the basic structure of the conventional hydraulic engine mount of which upper chamber is connected to a dual magnet electromagnetic actuator. The actuator, that essentially replaces the existing decoupler of the conventional passive hydraulic engine mount, actively controls the upper chamber pressure. Using the linearized ACM model incorporated with the actuator dynamics, we suggest an optimal design of ACM, maximizing the actuator efficiency as well as the vibration isolation efficiency.

In this study, it proved that transfer path analysis is a proper technique to estimate the interior noise from comparing measured interior noise in case of 3 point supported engine mount system. And the simulation of the vibration isolation for active engine mount using FXLMS algorithm is performed. Also, it verified that reduction of estimated interior noise from transfer path analysis and simulation of the vibration isolation.

This paper is focused on design of a new active control engine mount (ACM), which is compact in size and cost effective. The ACM, consisting of an electrodynamic actuator as the active element, flat springs and a sliding ball joint, is different in structure from the previous ACM designs based on the conventional hydraulic engine mount. Dynamic characteristics of the proposed ACM are extensively investigated before a prototype ACM, which meets the design specifications, is built in the laboratory. For cost effectiveness, a feed-forward control algorithm without a feedback sensor is used for reduction of the transmitted force through the ACM from the engine. The prototype ACM is then harmonic-tested with a rubber testing machine for verification of its control performance as well as adequacy of modeling. Experimental results show that the proposed ACM is capable of reducing the transmitted force by 20 dB up to the frequency range of 60 Hz.

According to the development of vehicle technique, the improved NVH performance is required in the vehicle which have the high effectiveness and the high output of the powertrain. This vehicle has to be adapted to active engine mounting system to reduce the vibration in accordance with various vehicle information. The pneumatic active engine mounting system is consist with engine mount, solenoid valve, air tank and control unit totally. The important technique of this system is to reduce the vibration by the air pressure. This paper contains the development process of the pneumatic active engine mounting system and confirm the performance of this system test and vehicle test.
This paper presents the vibration control of an engine mount featuring an ER(electro-rheological) fluid. The Bingham properties of the ER fluid to be employed to the ER engine mount are experimentally obtained through Coeutte type viscometer. The ER engine mount is devised ant its governing equation is derived. After evaluating the performance of the ER engine mount on the basis of the mathematical model, the novel type of the ER engine mount is then designed and manufactured. The electric field-dependent transmissibility of the ER engine mount is evaluated by changing the particle concentration and the electrode gap size. To investigate the control performance of the ER engine mount, neuro-control algorithm is adopted. It is shown that the proposed ER engine mount has prominent capabilities of controlling the damping force by tuning the electric fields and excellent vibration isolation performance.

For development of low fuel consumption vehicle, design of engine can he changed and it brings collateral effect. Abnormal vibration is one of bad effect of high efficiency engine and it can be got over by active engine mount system. For development of active engine mount system, an adequate experimental equipment is required which contain characteristic of real engine movement. To make adequate experimental equipment, regulated force vibrating system including characteristics of vehicle chassis is required.

The engine mount of a car subjected to a pre-load related to the weight of the engine, and acts to insulate the vibration coming from the engine by moving on large or small displacement depending on the driving condition of the car. The vibration insulation of the engine mount is an effect obtained by dissipating the mechanical energy into heat by the viscosity characteristic of the rubber and the microscopic behavior of the additive carbon black. Therefore, dynamic stiffness from the intrinsic properties of rubber filled with carbon black at the design stage is an important design consideration. In this paper, we introduced a hyper-elastic, visco-elastic and elasto-plastic model to predict the dynamic characteristics of rubber, and developed a fitting program to determine the material model parameters using MATLAB. The dynamic characteristics analysis of the rubber insulator of the ACTIVE MOUNT was carried out by using MSC.MARC nonlinear structural analysis software, which provides the dynamic characteristics material model. The analysis results were compared with the dynamic characteristics test results of the rubber insulator, which is one of the active mount components, and the analysis results were confirmed to be valid.
