Human emotion has been tried to be recognized by physiological measurements in developing emotion machine enabling to understand and react to user's emotion. This study is to find the time-dependent physiological measurements and their variation characteristics for discriminating emotions according to dimensional emotion model. Ten university students were asked to watch sixteen prepared images to evoke different emotions. Their subjective emotions and autonomic nervous responses such as ECG (electrocardiogram), PPG (photoplethysmogram), GSR (Galvanic skin response), RSP (respiration), and SKT(skin temperature) were measured during experiment. And these responses were analyzed into HR(Heart Rate), Respiration Rate, GSR amplitude average, SKT amplitude average, PPG amplitude, and PTT(Pulse Transition Time). TDPs(Time dependent parameters) defined as the delay, the activation, the half recovery and the full recovery of respective physiological signal in this study have been determined and statistically compared between variations from different emotions. The significant tendencies in TDP were shown between emotions. Therefore, TDP may provide useful measurements with emotion recognition.
Kinetic parameters for the texture degradation of three varieties of sweet potato during heating were determined using two alternative methods, the biphasic model and the fractional conversion method. The texture degradation of sweet potatoes during heating could be expressed by two simultaneous first order reactions using the biphasic method, whose activation energies were ranged $71.0{\sim}75.1\;kJ/mol\;and\;48.4{\sim}59.6\;kJ/mol$ for the initial fast texture degradation reaction and the slow texture degradation reaction at a prolonged heating period, respectively. However, the whole texture degradation phenomena of sweet potatoes during heating could also be explained by a single first order reaction using the fractional conversion method. The activation energies were $67.5{\sim}75.3\;kJ/mol$, which were comparable with those of the first phase reaction for the texture degradation determined by the biphasic model. A kinetic compensation effect shown between the kinetic parameters determined by both methods indicates that both methods can be conveniently used to determine kinetic parameters for the texture degradation of sweet potatoes by heating.
Rate constants and activation parameters for the methanolysis of t-butyl halide (t-BuCl, t-BuBr, t-BuI) in various MeOH-DMSO mixtures were measured by conductometric method. Taft's solvatochromic parameters, such as polarity-polarizability(SPP's), ${\pi}^{\ast}$, hydrogen bond donor (HBD) acidity, ${\alpha}$, and hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) basicity, ${\beta}$ of the solvents, were determined by the so called solvatochromic method using five indicators. The variation of methanolysis rate with the solvent composition was discussed on the basis of the activation parameters and the correlation of the rates with the solvatochromic parameters. It is concluded that the polarity-polarizability, HBD acidity and HBA basicity of the mixtures had an effect on the ionization of t-butyl halide cooperatively, also that the specific interaction between the leaving groups and the solvents, such as ion-dipole and hydrogen bond acceptor-donor interaction, is the most important factor of solvent effects on the stabilization of transition states.

PURPOSE. Plasma activation of hydrophobic zirconia surfaces might be suitable to improve the bond strength of luting materials. The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of nonthermal argon-plasma on the shear bond strength (SBS) between zirconia and different combinations of 10-MDP adhesive systems and luting composites after artificial aging. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two hundred forty Y-TZP specimens were ground automatically with $165{\mu}m$ grit and water cooling. Half of the specimens received surface activation with nonthermal argon-plasma. The specimens were evenly distributed into three groups according to the adhesive systems ([Futurabond U, Futurabond M, Futurabond M + DCA], VOCO GmbH, Germany, Cuxhaven) and into further two subgroups according to the luting materials ([Bifix SE, Bifix QM], VOCO GmbH). Each specimen underwent artificial aging by thermocycling and water storage. SBS was measured in a universal testing machine. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and $Scheff{\grave{e}}$ procedure with the level of significance set to 0.05. RESULTS. Surface activation with nonthermal plasma did not improve the bond strength between zirconia and the tested combinations of adhesive systems and luting materials. The plasma-activation trended to reveal higher bond strength if the self-etch luting material (Bifix SE) was used, irrespective of the adhesive system. CONCLUSION. Plasma-activation seems to be suitable to improve bond strength between zirconia and self-etch resin materials. However, further research is necessary to identify the influence of varying plasma-parameters.

The rates of solvolylsis of methyl chloroformate, phenyl chloroformate and 1-adamantyl derivatives in binary solvent mixtures have been measured by conductometric method at various temperatures and pressures. The activation parameters were estimated from the rate constants. The activation volume (${\Delta}V_o^{\neq}$) and the activation entropy (${\Delta}S^{\neq}$) are both negative, but the activation enthalpy (${\Delta}H^{\neq}$) is positive. This behavior is discussed in terms of electrostriction of solvation. The reactivities of these reactions were also estimated from the correlation of the activation volumes with the activation entropies. From these results, it could be estimated that the solvolyses of 1-adamantyl fluoroformate (in aqueous TFE) and 1-adamantyl tosylate have pathway involving unimolecular reaction, while the reaction of methyl chloroformate, phenyl chloroformate and 1-adamantyl fluoroformate (in aqueous alcohol) proceed through a bimolecular reaction.

Analysis of runoff is substantial for effective water management in the watershed. Runoff occurs by reaction of a watershed to the rainfall and has non-linearity and uncertainty due to the complex relation of weather and watershed factors. ANN (Artificial Neural Network), which learns from the data, is one of the machine learning technique known as a proper model to interpret non-linear data. The performance of ANN is affected by the ANN's structure, the number of hidden layer nodes, learning rate, and activation function. Especially, the activation function has a role to deliver the information entered and decides the way of making output. Therefore, It is important to apply appropriate activation functions according to the problem to solve. In this paper, ANN models were constructed to estimate runoff with different activation functions and each model was compared and evaluated. Sigmoid, Hyperbolic tangent, ReLU (Rectified Linear Unit), ELU (Exponential Linear Unit) functions were applied to the hidden layer, and Identity, ReLU, Softplus functions applied to the output layer. The statistical parameters including coefficient of determination, NSE (Nash and Sutcliffe Efficiency), NSEln (modified NSE), and PBIAS (Percent BIAS) were utilized to evaluate the ANN models. From the result, applications of Hyperbolic tangent function and ELU function to the hidden layer and Identity function to the output layer show competent performance rather than other functions which demonstrated the function selection in the ANN structure can affect the performance of ANN.

There is an adsorption method using activated carbon as a typical method for removing elemental mercury. Physical characteristics of activated carbon such as specific surface area and volume of pore (micro and meso) have positive effect for mercury adsorption. Activated carbon is carbon-based material with a high specific surface area. This activated carbon can be manufactured through carbonization and activation process. In this process, physical characteristics of specific surface area and pore distribution are changed by controlling operating parameters like temperature, time and reagent of activation. In this study, we evaluated characteristics of activated carbons manufactured from pinewood and coal with the operating parameters. We evaluated mercury adsorption capacities of the activated carbons having excellent physical characteristics and compared those to the commercial activated carbon.
The performance of convolutional deep learning networks is generally determined according to parameters of target dataset, structure of network, convolution kernel, activation function, and optimization algorithm. In this paper, a genetic algorithm is used to select the appropriate deep learning model and parameters for Alzheimer's classification and to compare the learning results with preliminary experiment. We compare and analyze the Alzheimer's disease classification performance of VGG-16, GoogLeNet, and ResNet to select an effective network for detecting AD and MCI. The simulation results show that the network structure is ResNet, the activation function is ReLU, the optimization algorithm is Adam, and the convolution kernel has a 3-dilated convolution filter for the accuracy of dementia medical images.
In the prior study, the mechanical properties and the dyeability of the easily dyeable polyester grim(EDY) were investigated. In this study, to interpret the dyeing behavior of EDY with C. I. Disperse Violet 1, the thermodynamic parameters of dyeing, such as the standard affinity, the heat of dyeing(the enthalpy change), the entropy change, the diffusion coefficient, and the activation energy of diffusion, were obtained from adsorption isotherms and dyeing rate at various temperatures and compared to these of regular polyester (REG-PET). The heat of dyeing(the enthalpy change) and the entropy change for EDY showed smaller negative values than those for REG-PET. This means that the dye molecules in the EDY are combined more loosely than in the REG-PET and that is due to the flexibility of polymer chains of EDY. The diffusion coefficients of C. I. Disperse Violet 1 into the EDY were larger than those for REG-PET, and the activation energy of diffusion on EDY was smaller than that on REG-PET.

Polyester microfiber fabrics were alcoholysed at 120, 140, and 16$0^{\circ}C$ in 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% of sodiumglycerolate/glycerol solutions(NaGR) up to 80% and the characteristic decomposition features were compared and discussed with the results of the hydrolysis done by 5% sodium hydroxide solution(NaOH) at 80, 90, and 10$0^{\circ}C$. The resulting activation thermodynamic parameters calculated by the combined use of the Arrhenius equation and the Eyring equation were in NaOH case ${\Delta}H^*$=- 13.89 kcal/mol, ${\Delta}S^*$/=-38.12 cal/mol K, and ${\Delta}G^*$=25.25 kcal/mol and in NaGR case ${\Delta}H^*$=29.81 kcal/mol, ${\Delta}S^*$=-2.29 cal/mol K and ${\Delta}G^*$=30.49 kcal/mol. Since in all cases NaGR-PET system has higher activation thermodynamic parameters, it was concluded that NaGR-PET reaction system is more favorable at high temperatures and occurs in a less selective fashion, in comparison to the NaOH-PET reaction system.
