자외선 경화형 하이브리드 코팅의 광열분석적 연구 (Photo-DSC Studies of UV-Curable Hybrid Coating Systems)

  • 독성이 있는 아크릴 모노머를 비닐에테르로 대체시켜 우레탄아크릴레이트와 배합시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 자외선 경화형 하이브리드 시스템을 조사하였다. 일반적으로 하이브리드 시스템의 코팅 물성은 자유 라디칼계보다은 우수하나 양이온계보다는 열세하게 나타났다. 아크릴계 올리고머 함량이 70% 이상으로 배합된 경우의 하이브리드계는 코팅물성과 경화물성면에서 자유라디칼계와 양이온계보다 뛰어나게 나타났다. 다양한 코팅 시스템의 경화과정을 조사하기 위해서 광열분석기를 적용하였다. 그 결과 코팅 배합물의 경화속도에 미치는 결정적인 인자는 배합물 특성에 따라 달라짐을 알 수 있었다. 동류의 하이브리드계의 경우에는 광경화개시제의 효율보다는 모노머/올리고머 비가 더욱 중요함을 알 수 있었다.

하이솔리드 도료용 카프로락톤기 함유 80% 고형분인 아크릴수지의 합성 (Synthesis of Acrylic Resins Containing Caprolactone Group and 80% Solid Contents for High-Solid Coatings)

  • Acrylic resins (HSCs : EA/EMA/2-HEMA/CLA) which contain 80% solid content were synthesized by the copolymerization of monomers (ethyl acrylate, ethyl methacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and functional monomer (caprolactone acrylate : CLA) which improves the crosslinking density and physical properties of films. The physical properties of the prepared acrylic resins (HSCs) containing CLA, are as follows: viscosity 1440$^{\sim}$2630 cps ; $M_n$ 1590$^{\sim}$1660 ; and conversions, 81$^{\sim}$86%, respectively. From the correlation of $T_g$ values, viscosities, and $M_n$ of the HSCs, it was found thst viscosity and $M_n$ increased with $T_g$ value.

  • Acrylic resins ($HSC_s$ : EA/EMA/2-HEMA/CLA) which contain 70% solid content were synthesized by the copolymerization of monomers (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate, and ethyl methacrylate) and functional monomer (caprolactone acrylate : CLA) which improves the crosslinking density and physical properties of films. The physical properties of the prepared acrylic resins (HSCs) containing CLA, are as follows : viscosity 245${\sim}$515 cps ; $M_n$ 2670${\sim}$2840 ; and conversions, 83${\sim}$91%, respectively. From the correlation of $T_g$ values, viscosities, and $M_n$ of the HSCs, it was found that viscosity and $M_n$ increased with $T_g$ value.

Near-IR 분광법을 이용한 광 경화 중합반응 관찰 (Monitoring photo-polymerization reaction using near-IR spectroscopic technique)

  • UV 광 중합 반응의 진행정도를 near-IR 분광학적 방법을 사용하여 관찰하였다. 광중합반응의 반응체는 4차 암모늄염을 포함하고 있는 아크릴 모노머를 사용하였으며 광 개시제로는 Darocur 1174를 사용하였다. 반응의 진척도는 광중합 반응의 정도를 나타내 주는 척도가 되는 중합 반응체인 아크릴 모노머의 -C=$CH_2$ 기와 관련된 흡수 띠인 1615 nm(6190 $cm^{-1}$)와 2105 nm(4750 $cm^{-1}$)에서 관찰된 띠 세기의 전환율로부터 구하였다. Near-IR 분광법이 광 중합 반응의 진행정도를 관찰하는데 효과적인 방법이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • 알칼리 가용성, 광경화형 폴리에스터를 합성하기 위해 플루오렌형 에폭시 아크릴레이트에 다양한 산 2 무 수물을 반응시켰다. LCD (liquid crystal display) 컬러 필터용 블랙매트릭스를 제조하기 위해서 합성된 폴리에스터와 카본블랙 등을 혼합하여 포토레지스트 용액을 조제한 후 리소그래피 공정을 통해 유리 기판 위에 블랙매트릭스패턴을 형성하였다. 합성된 다양한 폴리에스터의 특성과 리소그래피 패턴을 비교 조사하였다.

  • Toluene-free pressure sensitive adhesives were synthesized by using butyl acrylate (BA), 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid (AA) as monomers and ethyl acetate as a solvent. The polymerization recipes were designed by changing 1, 3, 5 part per hundreds monomer (phm) of AA content on the basis of 100 BA parts. Two crosslinking agents, ethyl glycol diglycidyl ether (EDGE) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) were added to the synthesized polymers to increase adhesion due to crosslinking. In the measurement of properties, holding power, peel strength, and initial tackiness increased with AA content due to crosslinking between carboxyl group in AA and epoxy group in EDGE and isocyanate group in IPDI. In the comparison of two crosslinking agents, EDGE showed better in the three properties than IPDI by better reaction of epoxy group of EDGE to carboxyl group of AA.

Synthesis and Characteristics of Acrylol Borate as New Acrylic Gelator for Lithium Secondary Battery

  • A novel acrylol borate was designed and synthesized by reacting acrylate monomer and boric acid. The obtained acrylol borate was used as both gelator and anion receptor for the liquid electrolyte in a lithium secondary battery. It was found that the ionic conductivity of the gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) was as high as that of the liquid electrolyte, and the thermal stability of GPE was increased when only 2 wt% acrylol borate was incorporated into the liquid electrolyte. These results suggest that acrylol borate can be used as an effective additive to enhance the thermal stability of the electrolyte without adversely affecting its conductivity. It is believed that the strong complex formation between boron in the gelator and the anion of the salt is responsible for the enhanced thermal stability of the electrolyte solution and the increased ionic conductivity.

환경친화적 LE-형 비이온계면활성제를 사용한 반연속식 말브틸-아크릴레이트/메틸메타-아크릴레이트 유화중합에 관한 연구 (Semi-continuous Emulsion Polymerization of n-Butyl acrylate/Methyl metacrylate using Environmental-Friendly LE-Type Nonionic Surfactant)

  • 본 연구는 환경친화적인 선형 비이온 계면활성제인 LE-형유화제를 사용하여 점착성분의 단량체로 노말부틸 아크릴레이트 (n-butyl acrylate, n-BA)와 응집성분의 단량체로 메틸메타 아크릴레이트 (methyl metacrylate, MMA)를 사용하여, 폴리머 시멘트용 아크릴계 에멀젼 수지를 제조하기 한 최적조건을 얻기 위해 수용액상에서 유화중합을 실시하였다. 실험결과, 사용한 계면활성제 (LE-형)의 친수성인 체인 길이(n)의 값이 증가할수록 응석의 발생이 줄어들어 안정한 폴리머 에멀젼을 얻을 수 있었다. 최종 폴리머 에멀젼의 농도는 이 계면활성제의 사용량을 증가시킴에 따라 증가하다가 어느 농도 이상에서 응석의 발생이 거의 없는 폴리머 에멀젼을 얻을 수 있었으며, 반면에 평균 입자크기도 사용량에 따라 작아지다가 250 nm로 일정한 크기를 나타내었다. 또한 기능성 폴리머로서 보조모노머의 첨가는 최종 폴리머 에멀젼의 응석과 입자크기에 크게 영향을 미쳤는데, 주 모노머에 보조 모노머인 아크릴산 (acrylic acid, AA)과 아크릴 아마이드 (acrylic amide, AM)의 혼합하여 첨가한 경우, 첨가하지 않은 경우에 비해 응석의 발생이 줄어들어 안정한 폴리머 에멀젼을 얻을 수 있었다. 최적조건에서 어진 아크릴 폴리머 에멀젼은 평균 입자크기 200-300 nm, 제타전위 (zeta potential)값 -50 mv 정도였으며, 단일 유리전이온도 (glass temperature, Tg)를 가진 고분자 나노 입자가 수용액상에 잘 분산되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 중합조건을 최적화시켜 안정된 폴리머 에멀젼을 얻을 있었다.

Comparision of the Properties of UV-cured Polyurethane Acrylates Containing Different Diisocyanates and Low Molecular Weight Diols

  • UV-curable polyurethane acrylate prepolymers were prepared from diisocyanates [isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI), or 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H$_{12}$MDI)], diols [ethylene glycol (EG), 1,4-butane diol (BD), or 1,6-hexane diol (HD)], polypropylene glycol as a polyol. UY-curable mixtures were formulated from the prepolymer (90 wt%), reactive diluent monomer trimethylol propane triacrylate (10 wt%). and photoinitiator 1-hydroxycy-clohexyl ketone (3 wt% based on prepolymer/diluent). The effects of different diisocyanates/low molecular weigh dial on the dynamic mechanical thermal properties and elastic recovery of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate films were examined. The tensile storage modulus increased a little in the order of EG > BD > HD at the same diisocyanate. Two loss modulus peaks for all samples are observed owing to the glads transition of softs segments ($T_gh$) and the glass transition temperature of hard segments ($T_gh$). For the same diisocyanate, $T_gh$, decreased, however, $T_gh$ increased, in the order of HD > BD > EG. The elastic recovery also increased in the order of HD > BD > EG at the same diisocyanate. In case of same diols, $T_gh$ increased in the order of $H_12$MDl > TDI > IPDI significantly. The ultimate elongation and elastic recovery increased in the order of TDI > IPDI > $H_12$MDl at the same diol.l.

UV-Curable Fluorinated Crosslinkable Polyurethane-Acrylates for Marine Antifouling Coatings

  • To prepare UV-curable polyurethane-acrylate oligomer, NCO-terminated urethane prepolymers with trimethylolpropane, [TMP; 0 (0), 0.1 (0.021) and 0.2 (0.043) mole (mole fraction)] as crosslinkable tri-functional chain extender were end-capped with pentaerythritol triacrylate [PETA; 2.0 (0.400), 1.7 (0.354) and 1.4 (0.304) mole (mole fraction)] with one hydroxyl group/three vinyl functionalities. The stable as-formulated UV-curable polyurethane-acrylates [stable mixtures of PETA-capped oligomer/reactive acrylic monomer diluents without/with heptadecafluorodecyl methacrylate (PFA; 0, 6 and 9 wt%)] were formed up to 0.2 (0.043) mole (mole fraction) of TMP content in the prepolymer, while homogeneous-mixing failed at 0.3 (0.068) mole (mole fraction), in which the crosslink density in NCO-terminated urethane prepolymer was too high to enable the formation of stable mixture. This study examined the effect of TMP/PETA molar ratio and heptadecafluorodecyl methacrylate (PFA) content (wt%) on the properties of UV-cured polyurethane-acrylates as marine antifouling coating materials. The properties of UV-cured polyurethane-acrylate were found to be significantly dependent on the crosslinkable TMP/PETA ratio and PFA content. With the increasing of the TMP and PFA contents, the contact angles increased, and consequently the surface tension decreased. The adhesion of algae/barnacles to PFA contained film samples were found to be sufficiently weak to allow their easy removal. These results suggest that the UV-cured samples containing PFA have strong potential as coating materials for antifouling applications.
