Sodium cellulose carbonate (CC-Na) dissolved in $8.5\;wt\%$ NaOH/ZnO (100/2-3, w/w) aqueous solution was spun into some acidic coagulant systems. Diameter of regenerated cellulose fibers obtained was in the range of $15-50\;{\mu}m$. Serrated or circular cross sectional views were obtained by controlling salt concentration or acidity in the acid/salt/water coagulant systems. Velocity ratio of take-up to spinning was controlled up to 4/1 with increasing spinning velocity from 5 to 40 m/min. Skin structure of was developed at lower acidity or higher concentration of coagulants. Fineness, tenacity and elongation of the regenerated cellulose fibers were in the range of 1.5-27 denier, 1.2-2.2 g/d, and $8-11.3\;\%$, respectively. All of CC-Na and cellulose fibers spun from CC-Na exhibited cellulose II crystalline structure. Crystallinity index was increased with increasing take-up speed.
Polymer amines are found to show distinct corrosion inhibition effects in acidic media. The functional groups of organic compounds have a wide role in the physical and chemical properties, for the inhibition efficiency with respect to steric factors, aromaticity, and electron density. The influence of $H^+$ ions and $Cl^-$ ions on the corrosion inhibitive effect of poly(p-aminophenol) for iron in hydrochloric acid was studied using electrochemical methods such as impedance, linear polarization, and Tafel polarization techniques. The experiments were conducted with and without the inhibitor, poly(p-aminophenol). The concentration range of $H^+$ ions and $Cl^-$ ions are from 1 M to 0.05 M and 1 M to 0.1 M, respectively. With the inhibitor poly(p-aminophenol), this study shows that inhibition efficiency decreases with the reduction of $H^+$ ion and $Cl^-$ ion concentrations in aqueous solution. Further, it reveals that the adsorption of an inhibitor on the surface of iron is dependent on the concentrations of $H^+$ and $Cl^-$ ions in the solution and the adsorption of inhibitor on the iron surface through the cationic form of amine.
Due to the intrinsic low surface activation of ${\gamma}$-alumina it has been used limitely in practice. Accordingly forward enhancing its utility ${\gamma}$-alumina surface was treated with slfuricf aicd nitric acid and chloric acid respec-tively. Subsequently the effects of surface activity on the surface electrical characteristics were investigated. The ${\gamma}$-alumina was prepared by the precipitation of aluminium nitrate [Al(NO3)3.9H2O] using ammonia water as a precipitator and it was chemically treated with such acids mentioned above. The surface and morphology of the acid-treated ${\gamma}$-alumina were analysed by XRD, BET and the surface activities were measured by the amine titration methods. The interfacial properties of the ${\gamma}$-alumina dispersed in electrolyte solution were esti-mated by the surface charge density measured using potentiometric tiration. Based on the relation between surface charge density and the acid amount the following results were drawn for the surface and interfacial electrical properties ; Acidic properties of surface-treated alumina increase with anion load on alumina surface. P. Z. C decreases with acid amount on alumina surface. The surface charge densities were apart from electrolyte ionic strength. The acidity of ${\gamma}$-alumina is linearly dependent on the P. Z,.C when the ${\gamma}$-alumina was dispersed in aqueous electrolyte solution.
Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) analysis of nonpolar polymeric materials is affected by the sample preparation as well as the matrix and cationizing agent. This study examined the influence of silver salt types on the MALDI analysis of polybutadiene (PB). Silver trifluoroacetate (AgTFA), silver benzoate (AgBz), silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$), and silver p-toluenesulfonate (AgTS) were used as the silver salts to compare the MALDI mass spectra of PB. The mixture solution of PB and 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB), as a matrix dissolved in THF, was spotted on the sample plate and dried. A droplet of the aqueous silver salt solution was placed onto the mixture. The mass spectrum with AgBz showed the clear $[M+Ag]^+$ ion distribution of PB while the mass spectrum with AgTFA did not show $[M+Ag]^+$ ions but only silver cluster ions. The mass spectra with $AgNO_3$ and AgTS did not show a clear $[M+Ag]^+$ ion distribution. The difference in the formation of $[M+Ag]^+$ ions of PB depending on the silver salts was attributed to the silver cation transfer reaction between the silver salt and the matrix (DHB). The mass spectrum showed a clear $[M+Ag]^+$ ion distribution of PB when the conjugate acid of the silver salt was less acidic than the matrix.

In a pursuit of the development of alternative mobile power sources with a high energy density, a planar and air-breathing PEMFCs with a new type of hydrogen cartridge which uses onsite $H_2$ generated from sodium borohydride ($NaBH_4$) hydrolysis have been investigated for use in advanced power systems. Two types of $H_2$ generation through $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis are available: (1) using organic acids such as sulphuric acid, malic acid, and sodium hydrogen carbonate in aqueous solution with solid $NaBH_4$ and (2) using solid selected catalysts such as Pt, Ru, CoB into the stabilized alkaline $NaBH_4$ solution. It might therefore be relevant at this stage to evaluate the relative competitiveness of the two methods mentioned above. The effects of flow rate of stabilized $NaBH_4$ solution, MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly) improvement, and type and flow control of the catalytic acidic solution have been studied and the cell performances of the planar, air-breathing PEMFCs using $NaBH_4$ has been measured from aspects of power density, fuel efficiency, energy density, and fast response of cell. In our experiments, planar, air-breathing PEMFCs using $NaBH_4$ achieved to maximum power density of 128mW/$cm^2$ at 0.7V and energy efficiency of 46% and has many advantages such as low operating temperature, sustained operation at a high power density, compactness, the potential for low cost and volume, long stack life, fast star-up and suitability for discontinuous operation.
Stability of soybean isoflavone isomers according to extraction conditions such as temperature, pH, and extracting solvents was investigated. Heating induced three chemical reactions to occur for malony1 derivatives of isoflavones, namely decarboxylation of malony1 groups into acety1 derivatives, deesterification of malony1 residues, and hydrolysis of $\beta$-glycosidic bonds. Among the twelve isoflavone isomers, change in concentrations of acety1glycosides were most pronounced: Acety1 derivatives were present only in trace amounts in unheated hypocotyls, but the content increased dramatically during heating. As for the glycosides, concentrations of daidzin and glycitin increased due to heat treatment, though that of genistin remained almost unchanged. Heat decomposition rates and the patterns differed among the three malony1 derivatives. After 120 min at $80^{circ}C$, the relative concentrations of daidzin, glycitin and genistin were increased from $9.2\%$, $12.4\%$ and $3.3\%$ to $19.3\%$, $21.9\%$ and $6.2\%$, respectively. When crude isoflavones were solubilized in glycine buffer (pH 10.0) and incubated at $80^{circ}C$, deesterification occurred faster than at pH 7.0. When the pH of isoflavone solution was increased, the malony1glycosides were hydrolyzed to their respective glycosides at increased rate. Both acetyl and aglycone forms were unchanged and only de-esterification reactions occurred. At the acidic pH, malonylglycosides were much stable both at 60 and $80^{circ}C$. However at pH 10, $80^{circ}C$ and 1 hr, $75-80\%$ of malonylglycosides were transformed to their deesterified glycosides. When isoflavones were extracted with $60\%$ aqueous ethanol at $60^{circ}C$, isoflavone isomers were stable and the deesterification reactions did not occur in these conditions. However, at $80^{circ}C$ deesterification of malonyiglycosides occurred significantly with $15-20\%$ of malonylglycosides being hydrolyzed into their respective glycosides. This experiment showed that malonylglycosides undergo decomposition when heated or exposed to alkaline conditions. Also, aqueous ethanol was preferred to aqueous methanol as solubilizing media for obtaining extract with minimum degradation of malonylglycosides.

The aim of this study was to characterize quintinite in fluoride removal from aqueous solutions, using batch experiments. Experimental results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of fluoride to quintinite was 7.71 mg/g. The adsorption of fluoride to quintinite was not changed at pH 5-9, but decreased considerably in highly acidic (pH < 3) and alkaline (pH > 11) solution conditions. Kinetic model analysis showed that among the three models (pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and Elovich), the pseudo-second-order model was the most suitable for describing the kinetic data. From the nonlinear regression analysis, the pseudo-second-order parameter values were determined to be $q_e=0.18mg/g$ and $k_2=28.80g/mg/hr$. Equilibrium isotherm model analysis demonstrated that among the three models (Langmuir, Freundlich, and Redlich-Peterson), both the Freundlich and Redlich-Peterson models were suitable for describing the equilibrium data. The model analysis superimposed the Redlich-Peterson model fit on the Freundlich fit. The Freundlich model parameter values were determined from the nonlinear regression to be $K_F=0.20L/g$ and 1/n=0.51. This study demonstrated that quintinite could be used as an adsorbent for the removal of fluoride from aqueous solutions.
To stabilize omeprazole(OMP), ethylenediamine(ED) complex of omeprazole(OMPED) was prepared by reaction between OMP and ED in methanol, and the complex formation was confirmed by the instrumental analysis, i.e., IR, DSC, EA, NMR, MS and XRD. The rates of decomposition of OMP and OMPED in aqueous solution and the shelf lives at standard temperature were measured by accelerated stability analysis. The results are summarized as follows; The mole ratio of OMP and ED in OMPED complex is 1:1, the energy of formation within OMPED might be combined between polar imidazole group of OMP with induced a dipole amine group in the readily polarizable ED molecule. At standard temperature the degradation rate constant of OMP in aqueous solution is $2.540{\times}10^{-2}\;hr^{-1}$ and the shelf life is 4.15 hrs, and in the case of OMPED the degradation rate constant is $7.986{\times}10^{-4}\;hr^{-1}$ and the shelf life is 131.96 hrs. So, the OMPED has about 31 times longer shelf life than OMP. The activation energy of OMP and OMPED are 5.23 and 18.55 kcal $mole^{-1}$ respectively. The stability of OMP is dependent chiefly on pH in the solutions and it decomposes readily in acidic medium by hydrogen ion catalized reaction but becomes stable beyond pH 9.0. In case of the ED-complex, OMPED is stable in neutral as well as in dilute acidic solutions even in pH 6, OMPED is very stable to light(UV), that is, the rate constant and shelf life of OMP are $k=1.0188{\times}10^{-2}\;day^{-1}$, $T_{90%}=4.5 \;days$, on the other hand, the those of OMPED are $k=7.138{\times}10^{-4}\;day^{-1}$, $T_{90%}=64.1\;days$, respectively. From the above results, it is thought that new dosage forms could be developed by using the OMPED as a potential OMP complex.
The effect of hydrogen peroxide on pretreatment of oakwood was investigated. Reaction temperature was $170^{\circ}C$ and reaction solutions used in pretreatment were aqueous ammonia, sulfuric acid and pure water. When 10% ammonia solution was used, the extents of delignification and hemicellulose recovery were 55% and 26%, respectively. These values were significantly higher as delinigfication and lower as hemicellulose recovery than those of acid hydrolysis. To overcome this problem, hydrogen peroxide was added into ammonia solution stream to increase hemicellulose recovery. But delignification and hemicellulose recovery were not increased as much as hydrogen peroxide loading was increased. And as hydrogen peroxide loading was increased, the decomposition of sugars solubilized from hemicellulose and cellulose were increased. So there were significant differences between the total amount in solid residue and liquid hydrolyzate, and the total amount in the original biomass. It was found that hydrogen peroxide added was reacted with substrate packed mostly in the front part of reactor. In order to increase hemicellulose recovery, it was necessary to treat with acidic solution than with alkali solution. Effect of hydrogen peroxide was higher in water than acid solution.
With the copper interconnection in the semiconductor process, complex residues including copper oxide, fluoride, and polymeric fluorocarbon are formed by plasma etching. In this study, a cleaning solution was prepared with a component having an amine group (-NH2) and a carboxyl group (-COOH), and the characteristics of removing post-etch residues in the copper wiring process were analyzed. In the cleaning solution containing an amine group, the length of the component substituted with nitrogen and the length of the carbon chain influenced the cleaning effect, and the etching rate of copper oxide increased as the pH of the cleaning solution increased. The activity of the amine group is in the basic region, and the activity of the carboxyl group is in the acidic region, and the cleaning process proceeds through complex formation with copper or copper oxide in each region.
