  • The photodegradation of the model compounds Quinol, an aromatic organic compound and Acid blue FFS, an acid dye of chemical class Triphenylmethane was studied by using illumination with UV lamp of light intensity 250W. $TiO_2$ and $TiO_2$ doped with Boron and Nitrogen was used as catalyst. The sol-gel method was followed with titanium isopropoxide as precursor and doping was done using Boron and Nitrogen. In photocatalytic degradation, $TiO_2$ and doped $TiO_2$ dosage, UV illumination time and initial concentration of the compounds were changed and examined in order to determine the optimal experimental conditions. Operational time was optimized for 360 min. The optimum dosage of $TiO_2$ and BN doped $TiO_2$ was obtained to be 2 $mgL^{-1}$ and 2.5 $mgL^{-1}$ respectively. Maximum degradation % for quinol and Blue FFS acid dye was 78 and 95 respectively, at the optimum dosage of BN-doped $TiO_2$ catalyst. It was 10 and 4% higher than when undoped $TiO_2$ catalyst was used.

  • Boron doped CdS films were prepared by chemical bath deposition using boric acid$(H_3BO_3)$ as donor dopant source, and their electrical, optical properties were investigated as a function of doping concentration. In addition, effects of boron doping of CdS films on characteristics of CdS/CdTe solar cells were investigated. Boron doping highly decreased the resistivity and slightly increased optical band gap of CdS films. The lowest value of resistivity was $2 \Omega-cm \;at\; H_3BO_3/Cd(Ac)_2$ molar ratio of 0.1. For the molar ratio more than 0.1, however, the resistivity increased because of decreasing carrier concentration and mobility and showed similar value for undoped films. The photovoltaic characteristics of CdS/CdTe solar cells with boron doped CdS film improved due to the decrease of the conduction band-Fermi level energy gap of CdS films and the series resistance of solar cell.

  • Graphene was obtained on Cu foil by thermal decomposition method. A gas mixture of $H_2$ and $CH_4$ and an ambient annealing temperature of $1,000^{\circ}C$ were used during the deposition for 30 Min., and for the transfer onto $SiO_2/Si$ and Si substrates. The physical properties of graphene were investigated with regard to the effect ofnitrogen atom doping and the various substrates used. The G/2D ratio decreased when the graphene became monolayer graphene. The graphene grown on $SiO_2/Si$ substrate showed a low intensity of the G/2D ratio, because the polarity of the $SiO_2$ layer improved the quality of graphene. The intensity of the G/2D ratio of graphene doped with nitrogen atoms increased with the doping time. The quality of graphene depended on the concentration of the nitrogen doping and chemical properties of substrates. High-quality monolayer graphene was obtained with a low G/2D ratio. The increase in the intensity of the G/2D ratios corresponded to a blue shift in the 2D peaks.

  • An analytical method was developed for hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) stabilizers based on QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) sample preparation and liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry analysis. HIF stabilizers potentially enhance the performance of athletes, and hence, they have been prohibited. However, the analysis of urinary HIF stabilizers is not easy owing to their unique structure and characteristics. Hence, we developed the QuEChERS preparation technique for a complementary method and optimized the pH, volume of extraction solvent, and number of extractions. We found that double extraction with 1% of formic acid in acetonitrile provided the highest recovery of HIF stabilizers. Moreover, the composition of the mobile phase was also optimized for better separation of molidustat and IOX4. The developed method was validated in terms of its precision, detection limit, matrix effect, and recovery for ISO accreditation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of the application of the QuEChERS method, which is suitable as a complementary analytical method, in antidoping.

  • The polyaniline films of emeraldine base (EB) and leucoemeraldine base (LEB) form doped with cam-phorsulfonic acid (CSA) were prepared by casting the mixed solution of chloroform and m-cresol on ITO (indium tin oxide) electrode. By analyzing UV-vis spectra of the mixed solutions, the effects of the secondary doping by m-cresol were obtained. And the conductivity of polyaniline film was increased with increasing m-cresol content. As the results of analyzing cyclic voltammograms, it was known that the redox peak currents of polyaniline electrode prepared from LEB were larger and more reversible than those of polyaniline eleclrodes prepared from EB. The charge transfer resistances $(R_{ct})$ of polyaniline electrodes were reduced with increasing m-cresol content, showing smaller Rct for LEB/CSA than EB/CSA.

  • We have synthesized aniline oligomer composites by using heteropoly acid (H$_4$SiW$_{12}$O$_{40}$ ) as a dopant. The doping and dedoping processes of the aniline oligomer composites were investigated with the aid of UV- Vis spectra. The bands of the aniline oligomer at 572 nm weakened or disappeared, and the bands at 268, 412, and 771 nm appeared, after the aniline oligomer was doped. When the solution of the aniline oligomer doped with H$_4$SiW$_{12}$O$_{40}$ was kept at lower values of pH, the aniline oligomer could not be dedoped by dilution. The turning point of doping and dedoping occurred at pH 5.5. The band at 771 nm shifted towards longer wavelengths when the aniline oligomer composites were synthesized using acetone as the solvent. This observation indicates that the molecular chain became stretched. In addition, we also investigated the change of the electronic absorption spectra of the composites with respect to the time laid up.id up.

  • Polyaniline (PANI)/Polyimide (PI) membranes were prepared and the effects of PANI contents and doping on the structural properties and gas separation properties were studied. The polyamic acid (PAA) solution was prepared by the polycondensation reaction of 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) and 4,4'-oxydianiline (ODA) in 1-methyl-2-pyrrolydinone (NMP) solvent. The PANI/PI blends were obtained by mixing PAA solution and PANI solution, and were doped with 1 M aqueous HCl solution for 24 h. The structural characterizations of the as-cast and doped membranes were examined by FT-IR, XRD, and TGA. The gas permeation experiments with $H_2$, $CO_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, and $CH_4$ were carried out by variable pressure method at $30^{\circ}C$ and 5 atm. For all gases tested, the permeability coefficients of the blends decreased with increasing PANI content and the magnitude of permeability was in the order of $H_2$ > $CO_2$ > $O_2$ > $N_2$ > $CH_4$. The permeability for PANI/PI membranes decreased after the doping process while the permselectivity increased. For $H_2/CH_4$ separation, the doped PANI/PI (75/25) membrane has a permselectivity of 991.

  • Two types of catalyst samples were prepared, one sulfated zirconia and the other silica doped sulfated zirconia. The acidity tests indicate that sulfated zirconia doped with silica has higher concentration and strength of acidic catalyst sites than undoped sulfated zirconia. The acidic surface sites have been characterized using FTIR, NMR, pyridine adsorption, TPD, XRD and nitrogen adsorption. Doping with silica increased the concentration of surface Lewis and Brfnsted acid sites and resulted in generation of proximate acid sites. The activity test indicates that doping sulfated zirconia with silica increases both the acidity and catalytic activity for liquid phase dehydration of methanol at 413-453 K. Methanol is sequentially dehydrated to dimethyl ether and ethylene over both catalysts. Significant amounts of propylene are also formed over the silica-doped catalyst, but not over the undoped catalyst.

  • To detect and quantitation residual antibiotics and antibacterial agents in meats, we performed a biological assay employing the three microorganisms Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Micrococcus luteus ATCC 9341, and Bacillus cereus var. mycoides ATCC 11778 for the screening purpose and developed a Gas Chromatography-mass Spectrometry(GC/MS) analysis for the confirmation and quantiation. In the biological assay (paper disk method), three test solution are used depending on the character of the residual antibiotics and antibacterial agents, follow by a simple clean up procedure which includes homogenization with Mcilvaine buffer, defatting with includes homogenization with Mcilvaine buffer, defatting with hexane, extraction with chloroform, clean-up by Sep-Pak $C_{18}$ and Bakerbond SPE carboxylic acid column. The chloroform layer is used for the analysis of sulfa agents. macrolides antibiotics and antibacterial agents, Adsorbed materials in the Sep-Pak $C_{18}$ were also employed for th analysis of penicillins and tetracyclines. Effluents from the Sep-Pak $C_{18}$ were cleaned-up one more by Bakerbond 10 SPE COOH column and employed for the analysis of aminoglycosides. In the instrumental analysis by using the GC/MSD, residual antibiotics and antibacterial agent were quantitated by selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode after derivatization. A simultaneous analysis of six residual antibiotic and antibacterial agent such as oxytetracycline, penicillin, ampicillin, choliraphenicol and thiamphenicol was developed with simple cleanup procedures revealing good recovery and reproducibility. Also, simultaneous detection of macrolides antibiotics such as erythromycin, spiramycin, and oleandomycin was developed after acid hydrolysis due to their large molecular structures. Because of the high reproducibility and selectivity of these two methods, it is very desirable that the combination of the two methods be used in the bioassay for the screening of residual antibiotics and antibacterial agent and that GC/MSD analysis be used for the confirmation and quantitation.
