외국인 대학생이 작성 중인 학술 보고서에 나타난 제(諸) 문제 (Procedural Problems in Academic Writing Faced by International Students)

  • This research analyzed procedural problems presented in academic writing faced by international students. The result of this research will serve as a basis for suggesting methods of developing a curriculum in Korean writing as a liberal arts education designed for international students. To analyze problems presented in academic writing by international students, the standard of assessment was divided into interaction, knowledge construction, and material quotation. Then, knowledge construction was divided into contents, structure, and expression, and the items were subdivided in each category. These categories of assessment correspond to the genre of academic writing and are different from the existing standard of assessment for academic writing. Applying these standards, this research analyzed 43 texts of academic writing in process for a final paper by international students in an class and presented problems in them. Furthermore, this paper aims to give detailed feedback that can help solve those problems.

가족구조, 부모와의 의사소통, 학업문제와 친구관계가 청소년 비행에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Family Structure, Parental Communication, Academic Problems, and Peer Relationship on Juvenile Delinquency)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of family structure(parentral marital status and socioeconomic status), parental communication, academic problems, and peer relationship on juvenile delinquency. The participants were 1009 middle school and high school students in Seoul city and Gyeonggi Province. The major results were as follows: 1) Parental marital status(divorced/seperated) had both direct and indirect positive effects and lower class in socioeconomic status had an indirect positive effect on academic problems and peer relationship on juvenile delinquency rates. 2) Open maternal communication had a direct negative effect on juvenile delinquency rates. However, open paternal communication had both direct and indirect negative effects. 3) Academic problems had both direct and indirect positive effects on juvenile delinquency rates. 4) Peer relationship had a direct positive effect on juvenile delinquency rates. 5) The level of effects that each variable had differed by delinquency types. Based on these results, implications for preventing juvenile delinquency were discussed.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 1990년대 이후 미국, 영국, 호주 및 캐나다 등 영어권 주요국가의 대학도서관들이 인식하고 있는 고등교육의 환경변화와 그에 따른 문제점들을 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 각기 상이한 국가제도와 문화적 전통, 고등교육체제 및 정보환경 하에 있기 때문에 생겨나는 고유한 문제점들보다는 여러 나라의 대학도서관 전반에 나타나는 공통적인 문제점들을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추었다. 각국의 대학도서관들이 공통적으로 지적하는 문제들은 예산의 축소 도서관 역할의 변화, 도서관 콜렉션 속성의 변화, 정보기술의 발전과 기술 기반구조의 요구, 연속간행물 가격의 급등과 도서관 구매력 감소 등이다. 이 문제들은 서로 고립된 개별적 문제들이 아니라, 매우 긴밀하게 상호 연관되어 있어, 개별 도서관의 대응책보다는 국가 혹은 정부의 보다 거시적이며 광범한 차원의 이해와 전략적 대책을 요구함을 알 수 있다.

서술형 문제를 활용한 형성평가가 수학적 학습태도 및 학업성취도에 미치는 영향 (The effects of teaching based on formative assessment using descriptive problems mathematics learning attitudes and academic achievement)

  • The purpose of this study was to improve academic achievement and mathematics learning attitudes in the formative assessment using descriptive problems as an effective teaching method. In this paper we set the following research questions. First, how would you improve students' academic achievement utilizing descriptive evaluation? Second, how would improve students' mathematics learning attitudes utilizing descriptive evaluation? Third, what was the reaction utilizing the descriptive method to evaluate? The result of this study could be seen as follows. The experimental group than the control group on academic achievement shows a significant improvement. Second, the experimental group compared to the control group in mathematics learning attitude changes could be helpful and appreciated. Third, experimental group than in the control group indicates significance could be seen in the reaction.

고등학생들의 독창적인 문제발견 능력과 학업 성취도, 과학 탐구능력, 창의적 성격과의 관계 (The Relationships between the Ability of Students' Raising Creative Problems and Academic Achievement, Science Inquiry Skills and Creative Personality of High School Students)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 고등학생들의 독창적인 문제발견 능력과 과학 학업 성취도, 과학 탐구능력, 창의적 성격 사이의 관계를 알아보는 것이다. 발견된 문제의 독창성을 평가하기 위해 빈도수에 의한 평가와 교사와 학생에 의한 주관적 판단에 의한 평가 방법을 사용하였다. 그 결과, 세 가지 평가 방법은 큰 차이가 없었으나, 빈도수에 의해 평가할 경우 친숙한 문제가 더 높은 점수를 받을 가능성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 전체 학생들의 독창적인 문제발견 능력은 학업 성취도 및 창의적 성격과 정적 상관이 있었으나, 과학 탐구능력괴는 상관이 없었다. 그러나 독창성 점수가 높은 상위 집단에서는 창의적 성격과 정적 상관이 있었으며, 하위 집단에서는 학업 성취도와 정적 상관이 있었다. 또한 독창성 점수가 높은 상위 집단과 하위 집단 간의 과학 탐구능력과 창의적 성격은 유의미한 차이가 없었으며, 학업 성취도는 물리I과 화학I 과목에서만 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 앞으로 문제발견 능력을 평가하기 위한 평가 방법에 관한 연구와 함께 독창적인 문제발견 능력에 영향을 미치는 다양한 변인에 대한 연구가 수행되어야 할 것이다.

  • The present article is dedicated to discussing the methods of teaching schoolchildren to solve creative problems. A few types of Olympiad problems were chosen as a didactic content of the article. The relevance of the choice receives proper grounding. Explanations are followed by examples from pedagogic practice. The article was written for the use of school teachers and educationalists that are researching the problem of improving creative thinking with schoolchildren.

The Survey on the Use of Book Numbers System in South Korean Academic Libraries

  • This study investigated the actual condition of book numbers in South Korean academic libraries. Book numbers that are used in the Korean academic libraries consist of a combination of author-number or author-name, the first letter of the title, and any other shelflisting device. This study examined the current problems that perceive academic librarians on book numbers and the problem awareness of librarians who are working at 110 academic libraries in South Korea. The result shows that academic libraries are using eleven different methods of the book numbers table including nine eastern methods and two western methods. Also, librarians mentioned that the crucial concerns among participating libraries were the duplication of the book numbers and ineffective collection management. Therefore, this study suggested the expansion of the book numbers system in order not to duplicate of book numbers and the unification of western and eastern methods so that academic libraries tackle problems of ineffective collection management.

Relationships Between Parenting Styles, Adolescent Academic Achievement, and Behavioral Adjustment among Korean Families

  • This study examined the relationships between parenting styles, academic achievement, and behavioral adjustment of adolescents in Korea. Using a sample of 181 parents and their children (13-15 years old), parents completed the Parental Authority Questionnaire and adolescents filled out the Youth Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and provided their school grades. Factor analysis was conducted on the PAQ to confirm the psychometric properties. Hierarchical regression analysis was computed to determine the relationship between maternal and paternal parenting styles, academic performance, and children's internalizing and externalizing behaviors. Regression analysis revealed that mother's authoritative parenting style was positively related with adolescents' grades in English. However, father's permissive was negatively related with adolescents' grades in English, Mathematics, and Science. Mother's permissive parenting styles showed negative effects of internalizing and externalizing behavior problems whereas father's permissive parenting styles showed positive effects of internalizing and externalizing behavior problems.

증산사상의 연구 동향과 대순사상의 학문적 과제 (The Trend of Researches on Jeungsan's Thought and the Academic Problems of Daesun's Thought)

  • This paper checked the trend of exiting researches on Jeungsan's thought and investigated the academic problems of Daesun's thought as an basic work to form the deep academic discussions on Daesun's thought. Grouping into the scriptures of Jeungsangyo, its theses and papers, I synthesized the present state of researches. In the case of papers, I divided into three periods, before 1990, 1990s' and after 2000. Grouping into three fields, the periods, the researchers and the themes, I investigated the characteristics of the researches of Jeungsan's thought through the main scriptures, theses and papers, and reports of actual state. In conclusion, I brought up the ten problems about academic questions of Daesun's thought.

공과대학생의 수학 기초능력에 대한 실태 조사 및 개선 방안에 관한 연구 (Study on Survey and Improvement Approaches on Basic Mathematics Ability of Engineering College Students)

  • Today, universities in Korea give a great effort to complement basic college scholastic ability of freshman. Maybe it could be unnecessary effort from university. However, we cannot just leave students who have poor academic performance about 10 to 30% in a university. Universities have to prepare to solve this problem. Thus government and universities investigate a lot of efforts but there is no guarantee. As a result, e-learning could be the best solution to complement poor academic performance of freshman and it also could be the best way to reduce financial burden of university. So, many universities introduce e-learning system and they also support professors to make e-learning content. We need to promote content usage and to improve overall operations. In this paper, we discuss poor academic performance problems under the current middle and high school education systems and review approaches to solve these problems. From this analysis, we propose the design of an effective e-learning system and a method of operation to complement students who achieve poor academic performance.
