The Analysis on the Characteristics of G Learning Early Adaptors: Focused on Motivation and Effectiveness (G러닝 조기수용자(Early adopter) 특성에 대한 탐색적 연구 : 활용 동기와 효과성에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper analyzed motivations of early adaptor students in using G-Learning. Also, it has tested academic effectiveness in G-Learning process. As a result, it has found that early adaptor students prefer G-Learning for social relationship, following the trend and showing off to their colleagues. Furthermore, the students showed high academic motivation, which made them taking high performance in their subject.

The Effects of Instructional Strategy using Thinking Maps focused on Drawing in Elementary School Science (초등과학에서 그리기 중점의 사고지도를 활용한 수업 전략의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop instructional strategy which utilizes thinking maps focused on drawing as a measure to enhance science learning motivation, self-directed learning activity and science academic achievement of learners, and to examine the effects of its application. The target unit for this study is 'life cycle of plants' in the fourth grade of elementary school. Two classes of 4th grades of elementary school were selected and divided into two groups. The learners of experimental group have completed thinking map by drawing a picture to express the results to be observed and measured, and used it to arrange the learning contents. The result of this study is as follows. First, it is proven that using thinking maps focused on drawing actually helped improving the motivation of learners to study science. Second, it is proven that this strategy was effective to change their self-directed learning ability in positive ways. Third, it contributed to the improvement of learners' science academic achievement. We found out that the application of this strategy enabled them to enjoy the mapping using drawing, to be immersed in learning, to better recognize the scientific concepts and the structure of learning contents, and to have a positive awareness of the usefulness of thinking maps focused on drawing.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of flipped learning among university students in Korea: Self-directed learning, learning motivation, efficacy, and learning achievement (국내 대학생에게 적용한 플립러닝의 체계적 고찰 및 메타분석 - 자기주도학습, 학습동기, 효능감, 학업성취도를 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to provide a systematic review and meta-analysis of research on flipped learning effects applied to university students. Methods: The random effect model was applied to 21 papers to calculate the effect size. To verify the moderation effect, a meta regression analysis and meta ANOVA were performed. Publication bias was verified through a funnel plot, and then an Egger's regression test was conducted. Results: The overall average effect size was .69 (95% CI: .51-.87), showing a median effect size, which was statistically significant. The outcome variables were in the order of learning motivation (Hedges' g=.83), self-directed learning (Hedges' g=.78), learning achievement (Hedges' g=.66), and efficacy (Hedges' g=.50), which were statistically significant. Conclusion: Flipped learning was found to be statistically significant in improving self-directed learning, learning motivation, efficacy, and learning achievement amng university students. It is suggestd that this method be actively applied in university education.

Exploration of Socio-Cultural Factors Affecting Korean Adolescents' Motivation (한국 청소년의 학습동기에 영향을 미치는 사회문화적 요인 탐색)

  • Self-efficacy, achievement goals, task value, and attribution are some of the representative motivation constructs that explain adolescents' cognition, affect, and behavioral patterns in achievement settings. These constructs have won researchers' recognition by demonstrating explanatory and predictive utility that transcends various social and cultural milieus learners are exposed to. Korean adolescents' motivation is generally in line with this universal trend and can be described adequately with these constructs. Nonetheless, there also exist a host of indigenous factors that shape these motivation constructs to be uniquely Korean. The purpose of the present article was to explore some of the socio-cultural factors that appear to wield particularly determining effects on Korean adolescents' academic motivation. Review of the relevant literature identified interdependent self-construal, traditional morals of filial piety, familism, educational fervor, academic elitism, and the college entrance system as important cultural, social, and policy-related such factors. Also discussed in this article were the roles of these factors in creating more immediate psychological learning environments for Korean adolescents, such as parent-child relationships, teacher-student relationships, and classroom goal structures.

Effects of the Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Enjoyment of YouTube Use on Academic Adjustment of College Students in Distance Education due to COVID-19: Focusing on Compulsive YouTube Usage

  • The goal of this study is to investigate how YouTube use motivation such as perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment affect the compulsive YouTube usage and academic adjustment of college students. To this end, a research model was established and 113 response data obtained by conducting a questionnaire survey on college students in Seoul were used for structural model analysis. The results of this study can be summarized as following. First, perceived usefulness has a positive effect on academic adjustment. Second, compulsive YouTube usage has a negative effect on academic adjustment. Third, perceived enjoyment was identified as a factor that plays a role like pharmakon. The findings suggest the necessity of learning strategies that control the degree of perceived enjoyment as well as the instrumental use of perceived usefulness in order to improve the academic adjustment of college students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of peer feedback on nursing students using videos filmed during the catheterization procedure. Method: The study was a structured nonequivalent group, pretest-posttest design. The experimental group was filmed performing foley catheterization. After the procedure, the group video review followed and peer feedback was provided. Results: The experimental group had a higher mean score in learning motivation than the control group. However, the differences in learning attitude and self efficacy were not statistically significant. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that video-aided peer feedback was effective in enhancing students' motivation to learn psychomotor skills.

Development and Effects of the Integrative Fidelity Simulation Curriculum (Fidelity 단계를 통합한 시뮬레이션 교육 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate effects of the integrative fidelity simulation curriculum. Methods: The integrative fidelity simulation curriculum was developed through meetings of experts based on nursing content. To test the application effect of simulation curriculum, a one group pre-post test design was applied. The simulation curriculum was applied with 149 nursing students who participated voluntarily. Results: In the application of satisfaction of the curriculum, learning interest in nursing and intrinsic motivation, nursing students had high scores in all evaluations. In addition, satisfaction of the curriculum had a significant positive correlation with learning interest in nursing and intrinsic motivation. Conclusion: The integrative fidelity simulation was an effective teaching tool for nursing students, and needs to develop more varied nursing simulation scenarios and curriculum.

The Factors related to Happiness among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 행복에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: This study explored factors that influence happiness in nursing students. Methods: The participants were 182 nursing students at a university in B city. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with the SPSS Win 22.0. Results: Happiness in nursing students correlated significantly with resilience (r=.79, p<.001) and self-differentiation (r=.38, p<.001). Resilience, subjective health status, and selection motivation to study nursing explained 69.1% of the variance in happiness. Conclusion: The study shows resilience, subjective health status, and selection motivation to study nursing are important factors for happiness in nursing students. These findings can be utilized to develop strategies for increasing nursing students' happiness.

On the Test of the reliability and validity of the Disabled's Motivation Scale for Rehabilitation (장애인의 재활동기 측정도구의 신뢰도 및 타당도 검정 연구)

  • Purpose: to test of the reliability and validity of the Disabled's Motivation for Rehabilitation Scale, which was developed in 2002. Method: An experimental version of the scale was distributed to a sample of 441 disabled with ages above 18 and below 80 years. The subjects of the test-retest were 60 disabled. Results: revealed a satisfactory level of test-retest and internal consistency. The overall fit of the factor model to the data was good. Correlation among the subscales revealed a simple pattern that, in general, provides support for the self-determination continuum and the construct validity. In testing concurrent, criterion-validity, there was a positive correlation between the motivation scores for rehabilitation and the Health-Related Hardiness scores and a negative correlation between the motivation scores for rehabilitation and the Learned Helplessness scores. Conclusion: The Disabled's Motivation for Rehabilitation Scale revealed a useful instrument with a high degree of reliability and validity. In this sense, this instrument can be effectively utilized in rehabilitative nursing for the disabled.
