The citation & reference writing is a necessary curricular course for undergraduate students to improve paper writing and information literacy. And academic libraries have been involved in relation to the course. In this context, this study examined and analyzed present conditions and contents of the citation & reference writing presently taught by academic libraries. The investigation shows that 9 out of 51 universities in Seoul & Gyeonggi-Do taught the course of citation & reference writing. The course was all taught under the title of 'paper writing' except one academic library, and the librarian taught this course on off-line. Some academic libraries taught only part of citation & reference works while many never taught them at all. Especially, the definition and types of plagiarism and reference works on Website were not appropriately covered. Academic libraries teaching the citation & reference writing should grow, and contents of the course should be systematically taught.

The purpose of this study was to examine moderating effect of academic self-efficacy and learning flow between social presence and academic achievement of cyber university students. For this purpose, the 371 students of W cyber university were participated in the web-survey system for two weeks at the end of second semester in 2011. The results of this study through hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that social presence significantly predicted on academic achievement. Academic self-efficacy was not significant moderating variable between social presence and academic achievement. And Learning flow was used as a significant moderated variable in the relationships among social presence and academic achievement. Based on these study results, effective management strategies for improving cyber university students' academic achievement were proposed.

The object of this study is to compare qualitative level between Korean academic books and American academic ones evaluated by faculty members in Korea. To achieve this study, the data were produced by the questionnaires from faculty members of the Chonbuk National University. The major conclusions are summarized as follows: 1. As a whole, American academic books are evaluated more excellent than Korean academic ones. American academic books have more appropriateness of citation, level of content completion, usefulness of content, clearness of expression and accuracy of data than Korean academic ones 2. This study shows that American academic books are evaluated more excellent than Korean academic ones in every subject. 3. The respondents who had studied in the United States of America for more than two years evaluate American academic books more excellent than those for less than two years. 4. Regardless of the periods of study in America, however, most of respondents evaluate American academic books better than Korean academic ones in all fields.

Various human resource information of the world can be found according to spread of social network such as facebook and twitter. There are an amounts of researcher information on the science and technology area but it is difficult to find a suitable researcher for research or business such as research partner, because researcher information is not systematically arranged. To solver this problem, we are constructing authority data system for science and technology based on authority information of overseas academic papers. In this paper, in order to construct the authority data, we extracts author identification elements from millions of overseas academic papers, which are published from 1994 to 2012. There are more than 50 author identification elements such as author name, affiliation, paper title, publisher, year, keywords, co-author, co-author's affiliation in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. We construct the element database by extracting and storing an author identification information based on the elements from overseas academic papers. Future works includes that the authority database for overseas academic papers is constructed by storing an academic activities of researchers after author clustering with these extracted elements. The authority data is used to improve the researcher information utilization and activate community to find a suitable research partner or a business examiner.

This study aims to investigate the perceptions of researchers and information professionals on scholarly journals and events hosted by the four primary associations for library and information science in Korea and to suggest improvements. The four associations include the Korean Society for Library and Information Science, the Korean Library and Information Science Society, the Korean Society for Information Management, and the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science, and they co-funded this study. A total of six focus group interviews were conducted with 21 university professors, researchers, librarians, practitioners, and executive directors of associations who are actively engaged in research and academic activities. Findings presented, first, that the overall process of the journal article review and publishing needs to be improved to enhance the quality of the journals. Second, efforts should be made to increase the visibility of practice by increasing opportunities for information professionals to submit and publish manuscripts with findings from the field. Third, each journal can be specialized by differentiating the scope of journals, providing articles with findings in practice, and facilitating collaborations with scholars abroad or in other fields. To improve scholarly events, first, a large-scale academic conference can be held regularly, co-hosted by the four associations, promoting academic needs and social networking. Third, each association can specialize in academic events in collaboration with professional institutions and agencies. Fourth, the opportunities to participate in academic events should be increased for early-career researchers, practitioners, and graduate and undergraduate students.

1980년대 이래로 온라인목록은 꾸준한 발전을 가져왔으며, 특히 UK(United Kindim)에서 JANET(the Joint Academic Network)의 출현은 도서관자동화, 온라인목록, 도서관 상호대차와 같은 다양한 부문에서 대학도서관의 혁신을 가져왔다. 본 연구에서는 이용자가 JANET를 경유하여 UK 대학도서관들의 온라인목록을 어떻게 접촉하고 이용하는가를 고찰하였다.

This paper aims at identifying the problems in the services for research of academic libraries. For this purpose, research functions of academic libraries and the requirements for them are identified. The hypothesis to be verified is that the service environments of academic libraries have not been coping properly with the changing needs of research activities. The statistics on budgets, staff and services of academic libraries in Korea are compared with those in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. It is concluded that the environments of academic libraries have not met the changing needs of research environments. Based on the conclusion, some suggestions are provided.

The purpose of this study is to explore strategies for development which could help academic libraries expand and strengthen their significances in the midst of structural innovations for universities in Korea. In this study, the trend in changes in academic libraries affected by financial difficulties and structural reforms in universities is analyzed, and major issues and challenges that academic libraries have currently faced are investigated. Also, reviewed are strategies that major academic libraries in advanced countries have built, and it is suggested how to establish strategies for development and medium-and long-term plan for improving academic libraries. which should be carried out on the government level.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to conduct a music listening program and investigate its effects on depression and academic stress. Method : 30 male and female at K university located in Busan Metropolitan City were selected as subject of this study and a half of them was experimental group, other were control group. An academic stress tester formed by modifying and supplementing sentences and vocabularies of the questionnaire developed by Oh, Mi Hyang and Cheon, Seong Mun (1994) to help understanding of students was used with Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) by Beck(1967), both before and after conductance of music listening program. Result : First of all, In the Academic stress was no difference between each group and there was no difference in effect according to the comparison period. Second, Score of depression in Experimental group was decreased after application of music listening program than control group's. Third, Score of depression in Experimental group was lower than control group's, depending on period. Conclusion : Put the results of this research together, music listening program dosen't affect the academic stress. But this program deceased the depression. In further study, it will be required to subdivided for academic stress and depression study from evaluation of the several times and apply a variety of diseases.

This study reviews the meaning and the usefulness of academic studies on acquisition and cataloging service(technical service), reveals problems and seeks solutions in terms of the librarian working in field, university library. The problems were found from the side of library and librarian, and from that of academic area, along with the lack of linking role of government agency. As solutions to enhance the usefulness of academic studies, this study suggests three points; the opportunities of communication of both sides, research based approach of librarians in the field and continuous field based verification from academic side. Currently librarians get limited help from the academic studies however, it is necessary to interact, correlate each other as subjects for mutual prosperity.
