  • Mobile sinks are being exploited for various purposes for solving the hotspot problem. Thus, the mobility support technique of mobile sinks is important, and it has been studied steadily. A survey was conducted of studies of mobile sinks in sensor networks having different movement patterns depending on the applications. The related techniques were divided into three main categories according to mobility pattern: predefined, random, and control. In addition, communications for mobile sinks are strongly affected by whether there is a single mobile sink or multiple ones. Based on this two-level categorization, an overview is presented of some state-of-the-art mobility support techniques researched during the past three years, and then the technique are analyzed according to various criteria. Finally, this survey concludes with a summary and a discussion of some future research challenges.

  • This paper compares the marine engineering courses of two maritime institutions: Mokpo National Maritime University of Korea in the East Asia region and Philippine Merchant Marine Academy in the Southeast Asia region. It shows examines educational marine engineering programs, along with the different divisions and courses at each college. It demonstrates a divergence in methodologies and course offerings to cultivate competitive graduates. The comparative assessment completed is intended to offer broader knowledge on how each institution tackles the requirements of the STCW, and to meet the present and future demands of the maritime industry. Different course offerings are compared along with the units and hours allocated to each subject, and the differences in marine engineering academic and training requirements to graduate. Students must satisfactorily earn 150 units to complete their choice of major. Statistical procedures were used in this assessment and analysis from Excel programs.

  • Objectives The purpose of this review was to analyze the trend of clinical research related to fibromyalgia and to suggest the direction of intervention Methods We reviewed the clinical research by searching seven Korean web databases and classified the studies by the year of publication, academic field, and study design. Results A total of 75 clinical studies were selected. Except for 2002, more than one study was annually published; however, the number was below 10. In the academic field, there were 34 in the medical field, 21 in the Korean medicine field, and 15 in the nursing science field. By study design, there were 62 observational studies, mostly case reports and case-control studies. There were 13 experimental studies, including non-random control studies and one group pre and post-test design studies. Conclusions Fibromyalgia-related clinical research requires a greater number of studies, and a study design with a high level of evidence should be conducted along with various observational and intervention studies. Additionally, multidisciplinary and integrated intervention plans and research are needed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Problem-based Learning (PBL) in an interdisciplinary college class. This class was run under the theme of 'Nurse Social Content Creators' (NSCC) in the Korean Nurses Association (KNA)'s industry-university collaborative project designed to promote a positive image of nurses among the public. Methods: Study 1 examined changes in perception about nurses among the PBL participants before and after the program. A one-group pre-post test experimental design was applied, and the data were analyzed using a Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Study 2 identified differences of perceptions of nurses between people who had observed the PBL final presentation and people who had not. A post-test-only with nonequivalent group experimental design was used, and the data were analyzed using a Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Study 1 revealed a significant increase of positive perceptions towards nurses. Study 2 revealed a significant difference between the PBL presentation audience group and the control group. Students who had observed the PBL program showed more positive perceptions of nurses than students who had not. Conclusion: This research is an important study with high practicality in the area of media studies as well as in nursing. The PBL teaching method was proven to be effective in enhancing perceptions of nurses.

  • This study analyzed the current status of the convergence departments of universities from 2019 to 2023. The number of installation increased from 430 in 2019 to 649 in 2023. The accumulated number of abolition increased from 177 to 509 at the same period. Many were suddenly installed without enough readiness. The convergence department bubble phenomenon began to extinguish in 2022. The number of the convergence departments in academic division was more in the order of engineering, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, and arts and sports every year. The proportion of engineering decreased and that of humanities and social sciences increased. The number of sub-division installing convergence departments increased from 65 to 81 during 5 years. Convergence education was in the process of gradually spreading to various fields.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the variables of metropolitan and provincial offices of education that affect the academic achievement of unit schools, and to predict how academic achievements dynamically change with the support of offices of education. The results of academic achievement of 606 general high schools in 16 metropolitan and provincial offices of education(rates of attaining more than normal education in Korean, English, and mathematics subjects) were analyzed using a multi-level model and system dynamics. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the provincial and provincial offices of education's efforts to increase the efficiency of local education finance, the efforts to reduce teacher administration, and the facilitation of faculty training were the variables of the provincial and provincial offices of education. In addition, through policy experiments, efforts to revitalize teacher training were the most influential factors in academic achievement of unit schools, followed by efforts to streamline local education finances and to reduce the administrative work of teachers. In order to improve the academic achievement of unit schools, the functions of the metropolitan and provincial offices of education should be strengthened based on the education accountability, and policies need to be established in the mid- to long-term perspective.

  • The present study was conducted to provide the basic data for SNS addiction interventions by identifying the convergence effect of academic resilience, social support, and subjective happiness on SNS addiction tendency of university students. The study was conducted on 270 university students and the IBM SPSS 23.0 program was used for data analysis. The findings of the present study were as follows. 1) The SNS addiction tendency was found to be negatively correlated with academic resilience (r=-.17, p=.005) and social support (r=-.20, p=.001). 2) The significant influencing factors were number of daily use hours (${\beta}=4.40$) and social support (${\beta}=-0.28$), and their explanatory power was 11.2% (F=4.08, p<.001). Therefore, development and application of programs considering the general characteristics of university students are necessary to reduce the SNS addiction tendency and increase their quality of life.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of sexual attitude among the elderly to their sexual life while exploring the moderating effect of general characteristics in the relationship between sexual attitude and sexual life. Methods: A descriptive research design was used. The subjects were 322 married elderly from four silver centers in Seoul and Gangwon-do. Aging Sexuality Attitude Scale developed by White (1982) was used to examine sexual life status and general characteristics of the subjects (gender, age, academic background, religion, economic status, and residential type). For data analysis, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, and ANOVA were conducted. Since the dependent variable of sexual life is a binary variable, hierarchical logistic regression was implemented. Results: There were 180 people (55.9%) who had a sexual life. Depending on gender (${\chi}^2$=35.03, p<.001), academic background (${\chi}^2$=29.45, p<.001), and economic status (${\chi}^2$=7.36, p=.025), the subjects showed significant difference in terms of sexual life. Regarding sexual attitude, the subjects showed significant difference depending on gender (t=-5.47, p<.001), age (t=-2.31, p=.021), academic background (t=5.16, p<.001), economic status (F=3.17, p=.043), and sexual life status (t=4.99, p<.001). Conclusion: It is important to devise the sex education program in consideration of gender, age, and academic background that showed moderating effects.

  • We conduct a survey on mathematics academic achievement to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade elementary school students at Dong-Gu in Busan in order to provide teachers in elementary schools with basic research data. The survey questionnaire includes home background, private education, the difficulty degree of mathematics textbook, practical usage of computers, group-teaching, teaching methods, preview, review, homework amount, learning attitude, problem solving ability, interest for mathematics, and the relationships of a home room teacher and friends. Based on survey data we perform factor analysis to find major factors affecting mathematics academic achievement. We identify if there are statistically significant differences in responses of survey for gender group and grade group with regard to survey questions belonging to the major factors obtained in factor analysis.
