Incremental converters provide a solution for such measurement applications, as they retain most of the advantages of conventional ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ converters, and yet they are capable of offset-free and accurate conversion. Most of the previous research on incremental converters was for single-channel and dc signal applications, where they can perform extremely accurate data conversion with more than 20-bit resolution. In this paper, a design technique for implementing multi-channel incremental data converters to convert narrow bandwidth ac signals is discussed. It incorporates the operation principle, topology, and digital decimation filter design. The theoretical results are verified by simulation results.

Six types of planar thermal converters from TC 1 to TC 6 were designed and fabricated for the purpose of being used as practical standards to alternating current. The respective voltage responses in air and in a vacuum of TC 6, which has the smallest thermal loss, were about 4.03mV/mW and about 6.38 mV/mW. Thermal time constant of TC 6, which has also the smallest heater thermal inertia, was about 8 ms. The respective variations of AC-DC voltage and current transfer errors from sample to sample, which were measured by FRDC(fast reversed DC) method, were about $\pm$0.41 ~$\pm$0.85 ppm and about $\pm$0.15~$\pm$1.16 ppm in the frequent range of 40 Hz~10 KHz with appling 1 V and 5 mA rms sine waves to the converters. All converters investigated exhibited sufficiently low AC-DC transfer errors to be used as practical standards.

Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can degrade the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problems in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. A high input power factor of 97[%] and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The harmonic guide lines of proposed rectifier is no interfered with inverter switching, resulting in a simple, reliable and low cost ac to dc converters in comparison with the boost type current improving circuits.

This paper proposes a novel PWM technique for a three phase current fad type converters. A minor loop compensation method is introduced to compensate leading current and to minimize input line current (Iu) distortion resulting from the resonance between AC filter capacitor and source inductance of power system. This PWM converter has excellent characterics as next. The control system is simply designed, and the operation with unity power factor can be easily obtained by automatic compensating the leading current of the filter circuit. Also. the three phase sinusoidal input current can be obtained.

To improve the efficiency of PDP TV, it should minimize the power losses transpired during AC-to-DC power conversion and PDP driving process. Generally the input power supply for PDP driving employes a two-stage power factor corrected converter, and it needs additional DC-to-DC converters to supply driving power for reset circuit ed sustain driver, which has high power consumption. However, such a circuit configuration has a difficulty for the PDP market requires low cost. To alleviate this problem, a new circuit composition is presented. It integrates input power supply with reset and sustain driver in a single power stack The input power supply of the proposed circuit has a single-stage structure to minimize power conversion loss, and it directly supplies power to the sustain driver so as to reduce the system size and cost.

This paper presents two new circuit topologies of DC bus lineside active edge resonant snubber assisted soft-switching PWM full-bridge DC-DC converter acceptable for either utility AC 200V-rms or AC 400V-rms input voltage source. One topology of proposed DC-DC converters is composed of a typical voltage source-fed full-bridge high frequency PWM inverter using DC busline side series power semiconductor switching devices with the aid of a parallel capacitive lossless snubber. All the active power switches in the full-bridge arms and DC busline can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutations and the total turn-off switching power losses of all active switches can be reduced for high-frequency switching action. It is proved that the more the switching frequency of full-bridge soft switching inverter increases, the more soft-switching PWM DC-DC converter with a hish frequency transformer link has remarkable advantages for its efficiency and power density as compared with the conventional hard-switching PWM inverter type DC-DC converter

This paper proposes a correction method of capacitance estimation considering the temperature effect for the DC-link capacitor banks in three-phase AC/DC/AC PWM converters. At first, operating temperature of the capacitors is detected and capacitance variation is corrected due to the temperature effect. Thermisters are used for sensing the temperature and voltage variation across the thermister is exploited to identify the capacitance change. The validity of the proposed method has been verified by experimental results.
The AC-to-DC single-phase PWM rectifier for traction applications using high power semiconductor, IGCT is made and tested. Parallel operation of two PWM converter is adopted for increasing capacity of converters. For reducing harmonics, the harmonic content is eliminated by the phase shift between two converters switching phase. The output voltage control is achieved by interns calculation without detecting the input current. The part of PLL used for controlling power factor is simply implemented by software.

A new high voltage DC power supply is proposed. The proposed power supply is constructed with several power converters connected in series. It is easy to obtain high DC voltage for the same structure of each power converter. The output DC power of the proposed power supply can be disconnected from the load within several hundred microseconds at the instant of a load short-circuit fault. The rising time of the output DC voltage is also as small as several hundred microseconds, and there is no overshoot of the voltage because all of the output filter capacitors keep undischarged state even in load short-circuit condition. Therefore, the proposed scheme is suitable for the protection of frequent output short-circuit and fast on/off switching of output DC voltage. The proposed power supply has improved features such as simple structure, high power factor, and reduced size and volume compared with the conventional schemes. The operating principle is described and the validity of the proposed scheme is proved through simulations and experiments.
