  • The abnormal behavior of the argon metastable density during the E-H mode transition in argon ICP discharge was investigated. Lots of investigations including global models expected that during and after the mode transition of ICP discharge, the density of metastable increases with applied rf power (i.e. electron density). However, recent direct measurement of metastable density revealed that the metastable density of argon decreases with the applied power during and after the mode transition. This result may not be explained by the previous global model which is based on the assumption of the Maxwellian electron energy distribution function (EEDF). In this paper, to explain this abnormal behavior with simple manners, a simple global model taking account of the effect of the non-Maxwellian EEDFs incorporating into a set of coupled rate equations is proposed. The result showed that the calculated metastable density taking account of non-Maxwellian EEDF and its evolution during the transition has an abnormal behavior with electron density and is in good agreement with the previous measurement results, indicating the close coupling of electron kinetics and the behavior of metastable density. The proposed simple model is expected to provide qualitative kinetic insight to understand the behavior of the metastable density in various plasma discharges which typically exhibit non-Maxwellian distribution.

  • This paper proposes a new method called the path-history coverage to generate a test suite to test the state transition behavior of the robot SW component. The proposed method generate a test suite which includes abnormal state transitions based on FSM of target component. Especially the proposed method covers the disadvantage of the mutation test method that the size of the test suite is explosively increasing. Examples including OPRoS Component[1] show the validity of the proposed method.

  • NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) plays an important role in surface land cover classification and LST (Land Surface Temperature Extraction). Its characteristics do not full carry the information of the surface cover typically in urban areas even though it is widely used in analyses in urban areas as well as in vegetation. However, abnormal NDVI values are frequently found in urban areas. We, therefore, examined NDVI values on whether NDVI is appropriate for LST and whether there are considerations in NDVI analysis typically in urban areas because NDVI is strongly related to the surface emissivity calculation. For the study, we observed the influence of the surface settings (i.e., geometric shape and color) on NDVI values in urban area and transition features between three land cover types, vegetation, urban materials, and water. Interestingly, there were many abnormal NDVI values systematically derived by the surface settings and they might influence on NDVI and eventually LST. Also, there were distinguishable transitions based on the mixture of three surface materials. A transition scenario was described that there are three transition types of mixture (urban material-vegetation, urban material-water, and vegetation-water) based on the relationship of NDVI and LST even though they are widely distributed.

  • This paper analyzed a root cause of abnormality in the temperature and vibration at generator-side bearing of motor generator set (MG Set), which is a power supply system to control element drive mechanism (CEDM) of nuclear power plants (NPPs), and modified the design of roller-type and sealing method to improve the abnormalities. From the inspection of MG Set and analysis of temperature variation during service, it was found that the abnormal temperature transition was basically associated with original design of generator-side bearing, whose roller was axially restrained by inner race, and that the abnormal vibration level was caused by inserting small chips of cage and V-ring, which were generated due to the abnormal temperature transition at roller bearing. Type of bearing and sealing method were modified based on these analyses. The temperature and vibration level measured at roller bearing showed that the modifications clearly improved the operational stability of MG Set.

  • It is a common saying that markov-chain is a special case of probability course. That is to say, It means an unchangeable markov-chain process of the transition-probability of discontinuous time. There are two kinds of ways to show transition probability parade matrix theory. The first is the way by arrangement of a rightangled tetragon. The second part is a vertical measurement and direction sing by transition-circle. In this essay, I try to find out existence of procession for transition-probability applied markov-chain. And it is possible for me to know not only, what it is basic on a study of chain but also being applied to abnormal problems following a flow change and statistic facts expecting to use as a model of air expansion in physics.

  • Eukaryotic cilia are organelles that project from the surface of cells to fulfill motility and sensory functions. In vertebrates, the functions of both motile and immotile cilia are critical for embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. Importantly, a multitude of human diseases is caused by abnormal cilia biogenesis and functions which rely on the compartmentalization of the cilium and the maintenance of its protein composition. The transition zone (TZ) is a specialized ciliary domain present at the base of the cilium and is part of a gate that controls protein entry and exit from this organelle. The relevance of the TZ is highlighted by the fact that several of its components are coded by ciliopathy genes. Here we review recent developments in the study of TZ proteomes, the mapping of individual components to the TZ structure and the establishment of the TZ as a lipid gate.

  • Background: Understanding the history of human papilloma virus (HPV) infection is important for interpretation of a positive HPV DNA screening test, future work-up and treatment. We investigated the transition of HPV DNA test results in Korean women, and analyzed the association of cytology result with transition type. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed annual HPV DNA test results for 5,274 subjects between January 2005 and December 2012. Each subject had a minimum of five annual tests over the eight-year period. Based on the pattern of results, the transition type for each subject was assigned to one of the following: negative, persistent, latent, transient, and unclassifiable. Associations of cytology results with the HPV DNA transition types, number of positive results, and the durations of positive results were also analyzed. Results: The proportion of abnormal cytology findings decreased in the following order of transition patterns: persistent, latent, transient, and negative. Among transient patterns, a duration of three years or more significantly correlated with cytology results of non-high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL; p<0.001). In the persistent group, duration of five years or more correlated with both non-HSIL and HSIL (p<0.001). Latent group showed no correlation with duration. Irrespective of patterns, having five or more positive results was significantly associated with HSIL (p<0.001). Conclusions: Our findings may contribute to better understanding of HPV infection, interpretation of HPV DNA screening results, and prediction of prognosis according to transition type.

  • Characteristics of the flame propagation for normal and abnormal combustion in hydrogen premixture in a cylindrical constant-volume combustion chamber are studied numerically. A detailed hydrogen oxidation kinetic mechanism, mixture transport properties and a model describing spark ignition process are used. The calculated pressure-time history of the stable deflagration wave propagation agrees well with the experiment. The ignition of the premixture in the unburned gas, initiated by the hot spot, causes a transition from deflagration to detonation under some initial temperature and pressure. Under the initial conditions with high temperature and pressure, excessive ignition energy initiates a strong blast wave and a detonation wave that follows. The chemical reaction in the detonation wave is much more vigorous than that in the deflagration wave and the peak pressure in the detonation wave is much higher than the equilibrium value.

  • This paper examines whether 'abnormal work practices', which have rapidly increased since the mid 1990s, are a 'bridge' for workers to 'normal work practices' or a 'trap' from which they are hard to escape. It provides both the static and dynamic analysis. The former shows they are likely to work as a 'trap'. The latter, which investigates the transition probability during the last 24 months, also supports the same result. It finds out that most of part-time workers paid by an employer are contingent workers or daily workers and that about fifty percent of 'abnormal workers' took them involuntarily.
