Sorghum leaf tissues showing the early acute response of systemic infection with maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV) strain A, contained unusual virus-induced cytological modifications including cell wall thickenings and protrusions, intercellular vesicles termed as "paramural bodies", modified plasmodesmata, abnormal plastids, and cylindrical inclusion bodies. Abnormal cell wall, some of which associated with paramural bodies, was frequently contained modified plasmodesmata. Various abnormal plastids were located within infected cells of leaf tissues showing the early acute response. The most important changes in chloroplast seen in the tissues are the presence of small vesicles, deformation of membranes, reduction in granal stack height, disappearance of osmiophilic globules and degeneration of stuctures. The cytological modification was not occurred in nucleus but a group of degenerated mitochondria with abnormal membranes attached to cylindrical inclusion bodies were observed. It was hard more or less to prove the relationship clearly between virus and cellular organelles in virus replication.plication.
The placenta is a temporary fetomaternal organ capable of supporting fetal growth and development during pregnancy. In particular, abnormal development and dysfunction of the placenta due to cha nges in the proliferation, differentiation, cell death, and invasion of trophoblasts induce several gynecological diseases as well as abnormal fetal development. Autophagy is a catalytic process that maintains cellular structures by recycling building blocks derived from damaged microorganelles or proteins resulting from digestion in lysosomes. Additionally, autophagy is necessary to maintain homeostasis during cellular growth, development, and differentiation, and to protect cells from nutritional deficiencies or factors related to metabolism inhibition. Induced autophagy by various environmental factors has a dual role: it facilitates cellular survival in normal conditions, but the cascade of cellular death is accelerated by over-activated autophagy. Therefore, cellular death by autophagy has been known as programmed cell death type II. Autophagy causes or inhibits cellular death via the other mechanism, apoptosis, which is programmed cell death type I. Recently, it has been reported that autophagy increases in placenta-related obstetrical diseases such as preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation, although the mechanisms are still unclear. In particular, abnormal autophagic mechanisms prevent trophoblast invasion and inhibit trophoblast functions. Therefore, the objectives of this review are to examine the characteristics and functions of autophagy and to investigate the role of autophagy in the placenta and the trophoblast as a regulator of cell death.
Research studies of Qigong therapy for cure for the past 20 years were reviewed from three different categories: clinical study on human patients, in-vitro study of abnormal cells, and in-vivo study of abnormal cell with Qigong therapy, in an attempt to understand the role Qigong therapy plays in many kinds of disease. There is a lot of evidence suggesting that Qigong therapy has an inhibitory effect on abnormal cell growth, both in vitro and in vivo studies, as well as in clinical observation (often there was room for improvement in these studies and some studies require replication in order to verify their findings). Qigong therapy is an area that is often neglected by mainstream medicine and research, and it should be seriously examined and considered as an important supplement to conventional treatment.
Purpose: Protein tyrosine kinase(PTK), protein kinase C(PKC), oxidase, as a mediator, have been known to take a role in signal transduction pathway of angiogenesis. The authors confirmed that PKC is the most noticeable mediator for abnormal proliferation of vascular endothelial cells through in vitro study model using the inhibitors, targeting the formation of three co-enzymes. In this study, we would investigate which isoform of PKC play an important role in abnormal angiogenesis of vascular endothelial cell. Methods: In 96 well plates, $10^4$ HUVECs(human umbilical vein endothelial cells) were evenly distributed. Two groups were established; the control group without administration of DMH(1,2-dimethylhydrazine) and the DMH group with administration of $7.5{\times}10^{-9}M$ DMH. RNA was extracted from vascular endothelial cell of each group and expression of the PKC isoform was analyzed by RT-PCR(reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) method. Results: RT-PCR analysis showed that $PKC{\alpha}$, $-{\beta}I$, $-{\beta}II$, $-{\eta}$, $-{\mu}$ and $-{\iota}$ were expressed in vascular endothelial cells of each group. DMH incresed the expression of $PKC{\alpha}$ and $PKC{\mu}$, and decreased $PKC{\beta}I$, $PKC{\beta}II$ expression dominantly. Conclusion: Based on the result of this study, it was suggested that $PKC{\alpha}$ and $PKC{\mu}$ may have significant role in abnormal proliferation of vascular endothelial cell.

Temperature affects the firing pattern and electrical activity of neurons in animals, eliciting diverse responses depending on neuronal cell type. However, the mechanisms underlying such diverse responses are not well understood. In the present study, we performed in vitro recording of abdominal ganglia cells of Aplysia juliana, and analyzed their burst firing patterns. We identified atypical bursting patterns dependent on temperature that were totally different from classical bursting patterns observed in R15 neurons of A. juliana. We classified these abnormal bursting patterns into type 1 and type 2; type 1 abnormal single bursts are composed of two kinds of spikes with a long interspike interval (ISI) followed by short ISI regular firing, while type 2 abnormal single bursts are composed of complex multiplets. To investigate the mechanism underlying the temperature dependence of abnormal bursting, we employed simulations using a modified Plant model and determined that the temperature dependence of type 2 abnormal bursting is related to temperature-dependent scaling factors and activation or inactivation of potassium or sodium channels.
In this paper, We coupled fluid balance and director balance equation from Ericksen-Leslie's continuum theory and observed the motion of Liquid Crystal molecular. We simulated flow velocity and director distribution in which flow effect is considered in switching on and switching off state. We interpreted the dynamic response characteristic caused by the flow. As the result of the simulation, We could see the flow effect. In the case of Twisted Nematic(TN) cell, this flow caused abnormal twist temporarily in switching off state. We could prove that this abnormal twist is a direct cause of optical bounce phenomenon known well until now with the result of simulation. In addition, We analyzed the mechanism of the fast response due to flow in the case of Optically Compensated Bend(OCB) cell.
The effects of abscisic acid(ABA) spraying for 12 weeks on the stomatal types and frequencies of O. malacophyllus leaves were summarized as follows. ABA inhibited the growth of O. malacophyllus. The prominent effect of ABA on the epidermal structure was the promotion of senescence such as thickness of cell walls, smooth sinuosity of cell walls, and large size of epidermal cells. The stomatal frequency was decreased to 23% by 10$\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA and to 48% by 100$\mu\textrm{g}$ml-1, and also the stomatal size was more or less smaller than that of control. The developing secondary stomatal mother cell was not found in both 10 and 100$\mu\textrm{g}$ml-1ABA, but the arrested secondary stomatal mother cell was rarely found in 10$\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA. The formation of normal stomatal types such as helico-eumesogenous and aniso-eumesogenous was found in both 10 and 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA asin well as control. Also nine abnormal stomatal types were found, and the frequencies were promoted to 6% by 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA and to 17% by 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA. Among these abnomal stomata, four types such as aborted stomata, single-aborted guard cells, arrested stomata, and modified stomatal complexes were found in control as well as in 10 and 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA, but five types such as wrenched stomata, unequal stomata, wavy guard cells, guard cells overlapped by guard cells, and dissolved cell wall stomata were found in both 10 and 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1ABA. The modified stomata complexes were abnormal stomatal types which were newly found and also were varied in types.
Cancer is frequently considered to be a disease of the cell cycle. As such, it is not surprising that the deregulation of the cell cycle is one of the most frequent alterations during tumor development. Cell cycle progression is a highly-ordered and tightly-regulated process that involves multiple checkpoints that assess extracellular growth signals, cell size, and DNA integrity. Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and their cyclin partners are positive regulators of accelerators that induce cell cycle progression; whereas, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CKIs) that act as brakes to stop cell cycle progression in response to regulatory signals are important negative regulators. Cancer originates from the abnormal expression of activation of positive regulators and functional suppression of negative regulators. Therefore, understanding the molecular mechanisms of the deregulation of cell cycle progression in cancer can provide important insights into how normal cells become tumorigenic, as well as how cancer treatment strategies can be designed.
Since it was first reported in 1997, somatic cell cloning has been demonstrated in several other mammalian species. On the mouse, it can be cloned from embryonic stem (ES) cells, fetus-derived cells, and adult-derived cells, both male and female. While cloning efficiencies range from 0 to 20%, rates of just 1-2% are typical (i.e. one or two live offspring per one hundred initial embryos). Recently, abnormalities in mice cloned from somatic cells have been reported, such as abnormal gene expression in embryo (Boiani et al., 2001, Bortvin et al., 2003), abnormal placenta (Wakayama and Yanagimachi 1999), obesity (Tamashiro et ai, 2000, 2002) or early death (Ogonuki et al., 2002). Such abnormalities notwithstanding, success in generating cloned offspring has opened new avenues of investigation and provides a valuable tool that basic research scientists have employed to study complex processes such as genomic reprogramming, imprinting and embryonic development. On the other hand, mouse ES cell lines can also be generated from adult somatic cells via nuclear transfer. These 'ntES cells' are capable of differentiation into an extensive variety of cell types in vitro, as well assperm and oocytes in vivo. Interestingly, the establish rate of ntES cell line from cloned blastocyst is much higher than the success rate of cloned mouse. It is also possible to make cloned mice from ntES cell nuclei as donor, but this serial nuclear transfer method could not improved the cloning efficiency. Might be ntES cell has both character between ES cell and somatic cell. A number of potential agricultural and clinical applications are also are being explored, including the reproductive cloning of farm animals and therapeutic cloning for human cell, tissue, and organ replacement. This talk seeks to describe both the relationship between nucleus donor cell type and cloning success rate, and methods for establishing ntES cell lines. (중략)
Nowadays, the amounts of cells and tissues in the field of pathology is being increased rapidly due to the increasing number of peoples and growing medical well fares. But, unfortunately the number of professional pathologist is not enough to deal with the great inspection amounts and there are several difficult problems in processing the inspections with naked eyes. To process a lot of inspections rapidly and solve difficults in inspections, the need of the inspection automation come appears. With this study the primarily cells and tissues can be sorted using image processing technics. As a result, the normal cells are separated from the abnormal cells and the abnormal cells can be distinguished through screening of abnormal cell's image with reference data to judge abnormal cells. Owing to this study the number of inspections which the pathologists should examine will be decreased and the time for inspection will be shortened.
