  • In this study, we have investigated properties and behaviors of the indigo vat dyeings on synthetic fibers, namely PET and PTT/Spandex. In addition, indigo vat dyeing conditions such as dyeing temperature, dye concentration and pH were optimized. The finding results show that higher color strengths of indigo dyeings on the two types of applied fibers were obtained at $110^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively. Furthermore, acid leuco dyeings on the fiber substrates using acetic acid and formic acid show higher dye uptake with compared to alkali leuco counterparts.

  • Transesterification between poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) and bisphenol-A-polycarbonate (PC) is studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. When the blend of PTT/PC is annealed at higher temperatures, the samples do not show any melting peak at an initial stage, indicating the samples completely lose their crystallinity due to the formation of random copolymers. However, when the random copolymer is annealed at temperatures lower than the melting temperature of PTT, a melting peak is observed, indicating that the random copolymers are sequentially reordered. The melting point and the heat of fusion of crystals formed from the crystallization-induced sequential reordering depend upon the annealing temperature and time. The average sequence length determined from NMR is increased as the blocks are regenerated.

  • In this study, the dyeing properties of double knit fabric composed of PET/PTT bi-component fiber and quick dry fiber were examined with disperse dyes. In addition, the shrinkage characteristics were investigated during the dyeing process. The K/S values and shrinkage rate of PET/PTT bi-component fiber were higher than those of PET/co-PET bi-component fiber and quick dry fiber. In the dye bath, dye migration of exhausted on PET/PTT bi-component fiber to quick dry fiber was found at high dyeing temperature. It was not found that there was a significant difference in K/S value on dyeing temperature between 115℃ and 130℃. But the slight color difference of two sides of a double knit fabric was found.

  • Automated text summarization (ATS) systems rely on language resources as datasets. However, creating these datasets is a complex and labor-intensive task requiring linguists to extensively annotate the data. Consequently, certain public datasets for ATS, particularly in languages such as Thai, are not as readily available as those for the more popular languages. The primary objective of the ATS approach is to condense large volumes of text into shorter summaries, thereby reducing the time required to extract information from extensive textual data. Owing to the challenges involved in preparing language resources, publicly accessible datasets for Thai ATS are relatively scarce compared to those for widely used languages. The goal is to produce concise summaries and accelerate the information extraction process using vast amounts of textual input. This study introduced ThEconSum, an ATS architecture specifically designed for Thai language, using economy-related data. An evaluation of this research revealed the significant remaining tasks and limitations of the Thai language.

  • To investigate anti-thrombosis and anti-oxidation activities of the root of Arctium lappa L (RALL), which has been used as foodstuff and oriental medicine in Korea, the ethanol extract and its subsequent organic solvent fractions of the RALL were prepared. The yield of ethanol extraction was 10.94%, and the content of total polyphenol and total sugar of ethanol extract were 5.01 and 694.53 mg/g, respectively. The fraction yields of n-hexane, ethylacetate (EA), butanol and water residue were 1.62, 0.42, 5.98 and 85.38%, respectively. In anticoagulation activity assay, the ethanol extract of RALL did not show significant changes in thrombin time (TT), prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), whereas the EA fractions showed 13 folds extended TT, PT, and aPTT respectively. Interestingly, the water residue showed strong activation effect against blood clotting factors with shortened aPTT, which might provide the evidence of coagulation agent of RALL in folk remedy. In anti-platelet aggregation assay, the activity of the ethanol extract and its fractions were comparable to that of aspirin. Especially the EA fraction showed 2-folds higher inhibitory activity than aspirin. In anti-oxidation activity assay, the EA fraction also showed strong in DPPH, ABTS and nitrite scavenging activity, and reducing power activity. The extract and fractions of RALL have ignorable hemolytic activity against human RBC up to 0.5 mg/mL concentration. Our results suggest that the EA fraction of RALL have potentials as safe and novel anti-thrombosis agent.

  • Indocyanine green (ICG) is a dye approved for use in clinical diagnostics. ICG remains in the intravascular space following intravenous administration, due to its ability to rapidly bind to the plasma proteins, and its therapeutic potential has been studied in well-vascularized cutaneous tumors. Here we have evaluated the clinical response of a subconjunctival tumor to photothermal therapy (PTT) using an ICG-enhanced near-infrared diode laser and its adverse effects, in a rabbit. 22 male New Zealand white rabbits with subconjunctival tumors were enrolled (control group 6, laser-only group 8, laser-with-ICG group 8). Rabbits in the laser-with-ICG group received ICG (twice, 2 mg/kg each time, intravenously) directly followed by irradiation with a diode laser (λ = 810 nm). Rabbits in the laser-only group were irradiated with the diode laser. ICG angiography, ultrasonography, and pathologic examination were performed to evaluate PTT response at specific time points (0, 2, and 4 weeks after PTT). Two weeks after initial treatment, the eight rabbits treated by laser with ICG showed a 100% response rate. There was no clinical response in both laser-only and control groups. ICG-PTT is a potential and effective palliative therapeutic modality for subconjunctival tumors.

  • Blood pressure (BP) is one of the important physiological parameters for diagnosing cardiovascula diseases by means of noninvasive method. Existing noninvasive methods for measuring arterial BP have to use cuff and difficult in measuring arterial BP continuously. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and pulse transit time (PTT) have a kind of inverse relationship. We acquired PTT data when subjects were in relaxation and also after exercise. We performed the linear regression analysis for making the regression equations for each subject and the regression equation for all subjects. We compared the estimated SBP with the measured SBP to check the accuracy of our regression equations. From the result, the regression equations for each subject was appropriate according to the American National Standards Institute of the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrument (ANSI/AAMI) which says that BP devices should have ±5mmHg mean of error and 8mmHg standard deviation of error. However, the regression equation for all subjects was not proper to ANSI/AAMI recommendation. The result means that, without cuff, we can continuously estimate each subject's SBP through PTT and indivisual calibration.

  • A art from the typical data services based on 1:1 data communications, various new services based on 1:N communications have recently appeared. These services are becoming to require advanced 1:N communication schemes which can transfer the same data to many receivers efficiently and in high-performance. Especially, a Push-To-Talk (PTT) service, which is an important service in public safety communication system, requires a service server to disseminate the same voice media data to multiple receivers in a group in real-time and low latency. In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme to disseminate the same data to multiple receivers in low latency. In addition, we provide an analysis which gives a guide the performance of the 1:N communications in practical wired/wireless system environments in the perspective of the PTT service index.
