Suppose X is a subspace of $(\sum_{n=1} ^{\infty} X_n)_{c_0}$, dim $X_n<{\infty}$, which has the metric compact approximation property. It is proved that if Y is a Banach space of cotype q for some $2{\leq}1<{\infty}$ then K(X,Y) is an M-ideal in L(X,Y).

In the structure of modern houses, a living room is the space most frequently used by family members. In a living room, they rest, talk together, watch TV, study, read books and enjoy hobbies. A living room is furnished with a TV cabinet, a storage closet, a sofa, a bookshelf, a desk and etc. depending on the purposes of activities in it, which can be different in each house. Furniture is the required tool for indoor architectural space and humans to lead a life. In most families, a man and a woman marry each other and become man and wife, go through the honeymoon phase, give birth to one or two children and become a family with three or four members. According to the children's growth cycle from birth to infancy, early childhood, childhood, adolescence, youth and adulthood, furniture layout and kinds of furniture in a living room change. Depending on the family life cycle, most parents of young children try to help their children to form good habits of reading books and studying for their future. As for the environmental elements interrupting reading and studying, watching TV and using smart phones excessively are being regarded as problems. As the number of two-income families is increasing in this era when many women are participating in the social activities with the government's encouragement, children are having more time.

In modern society, the range of time and space in life is continually expanding due to increase of income and diversification of life. In order to respond to these changes and to satisfy needs and to secure the mobility of citizens, the construction of transport infrastructure and public transport services should be provided continually. In particular, to ensure mobility during late-night hours, providing metropolitan public transport services is urgently needed. Due to expansion of life zone, tension of time and space of metropolitan transportation is essential to construct transport infrastructure in preparation for entry into 24-hour community. This study was based on analysis of travel resource and survey data conducted by passengers of express trains, conventional trains, and metropolitan bus. This study is to investigate use characteristics of passengers and characteristics and problems of Gyeongin-line. Moreover, this study's purpose is to suggest plans in order to improve express train operation and extend hours of the midnight express. It is also important to vitalize public transportation.

Silicon Charge Detector is to measure the charge of incident cosmic-ray nuclei with a resolution of 0.2 charge unit for atomic number, Z=1-30 with energy range from 1 to 1000 TeV. It is one of detectors for CREAM (Cosmic Ray Energetics And Mass) experiment to test current models of source and acceleration mechanisms of ultra high energy cosmic rays. It's first flight will be with a NASA zero pressure balloon planned to be launched from McMurdo Station, Antarctica in December 2004. (omitted)

The quality of precision spindle units (S/Us) running on rolling bearings depends strongly on their structural parameters, such as the configuration and geometry of the S/U elements and bearing preloads. When S/Us are designed, their parameters should be optimized to improve the performance characteristics. However, it is practically impossible to state perfectly a general criterion function for S/U quality. Therefore, we propose to use a multicriteria optimization based on the parameter space investigation (PSI) method We demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method using the optimization results of high-speed S/Us.

With the change of funeral customs, funeral facilities in general hospitals are prevailing in recent years. In order to cope with this change, many funeral facilities are built in hospitals in significant sizes. Architectural considerations for funeral facilities are to be developed. In this research, based on the case analysis of the funeral facilities which are in operation, characteristics of spatial composition in those facilities are analyzed from the viewpoint of users and the result is organized in to a set of proposed guidelines for their space design. The analysis includes definition and classification of functional space, plan type, circulation and spatial atmosphere.

An interactive multicriteria method, which is called the Modified Pairwise Comparison Stochastic Cutting Plane (MPCSCP) method, is proposed for determining the best levels of the integer decision variables needed to optimize a stochastic computer simulation with multiple response functions. MPCSCP combines good features from interactive tradeoff cutting plane methods and response surface methodologies. The proposed method uses a simple pairwise man-machine interaction and searches an integer space uniformly by using the experimental design which evaluates the decision space centering around an integer center point. The characteristics of the proposed method are investigated through an extensive computational study. The parameter configurations examined in the study are (1) variability of the sampling errors, (2) the size of experimental design, (3) the relaxation of cutting planes, and (4) the levels of decision maker's inconsistency.

In this paper, we investigate the existence of an S-shaped connected component in the set of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem of the one-dimension Minkowski-curvature equation $$\{\(\frac{u^{\prime}}{\sqrt{1-u^{{\prime}2}}}\)^{\prime}+{\lambda}a(x)f(u)=0,\;x{\in}(0,1),\\u(0)=u(1)=0$$, where ${\lambda}$ is a positive parameter, $f{\in}C[0,{\infty})$, $a{\in}C[0,1]$. The proofs of main results are based upon the bifurcation techniques.

The review of the literature determines that large osteomas of the mandible are relatively rare. We present a case of a 60-year-old man with painless swelling of the left submandibular area and mild difficulty in breathing. The patient complained that the mass have been progressing slowly for at least 20 years. Radiographic studies showed a giant osteoma that attached to the lingual surface of the left mandibular angle and extended from submandibular space to infratemporal space. After the excision of the tumor the patient made a full recovery.

Choonwon, Lee Kwang-Soo was a literary man and activist for educational movement in modem age of Korea. This research was to review his arguments about improvement of house living. The major results of the research were as follows. First, he asked Korean people to establish solid identity of living. Second, he placed great emphasis on building hygiene facilities and bathroom. Third, he argued that the space within a household need to be divided in accordance with function. Finally he suggested Korean people to make home environment beautiful and convenient.
