  • The purpose of this paper is to discuss the potential and to examine the effect of narrative, as an alternative approach to teach formal proof in more easier and comprehensible way. Identifying the key elements of narrative in proof, we constructed a narrative that derives the equation of function translation. We examined the effect of teaching through the narrative, in comparison with teaching the corresponding proof, on low-achieving students' instrumental understanding and relational understanding of function translation. Since we found no statistically significant differences between the experimental and the comparison group, this study could not conclude that teaching through the narrative was more effective than teaching the corresponding proof. But there were some qualitative differences in the relational understanding responses and the evaluation of the teaching between two groups. These findings suggested some potential of narratives that complement the formal proof.

It proposes the user's emotion modeling of dynamic narrative on entertainment contents. To make this possible, 1) dynamic narrative emotion model is proposed based on theoretical research of narrative structure and cognitive emotion model. 2) configuring the emotion types and emotion value, proposed model of three emotion parameter(desire, expectation, emotion type) are derived. 3)To measure user's emotion in each story event of dynamic narrative, cognitive behavior and description of user(film, game) is established. The earlier studies on the user research of conceptual, analytic approach is aimed of predicting on review of the media and user's attitude, and consequently these results is delineated purely descriptive. In contrast, this paper is proposed the method of user's emotion modeling on dynamic narrative. It would be able to contributed to the emotional evaluation of entertainment contents using specific information.

The self- narrative writing subject with a learning of recognization, expression, and communication with oneself, emphasizes the necessity when they become college students through entrance exam-oriented education. The research methods are as follows. Firstly, three university textbooks which include a section on self-narrative writing were compared and analyzed. The analysis highlights the needs for a textbook covering self-narrative writing more extensively and comprehensively as what is offered by the existing textbooks is limited in facilitating students to fully develop the ability of self-reflection, which should be dealt as a long-term goal. Secondly, the current discussion on self-narrative writing and examples of real classroom practice were analyzed. It shows that a step-by-step approach is required to encourage the practice of deep self-reflection to be incorporated into writing. In addition, during the writing process, various correction and feedback activities should be carried out on a macro level and gradually while the communication and feedback should take place not only between a teacher and students, but also among students. As a result, it is expected that this study will help establish a teaching model of self-narrative writing by seeking complementary points and educational directions for self-narrative writing.

  • In the multimedia era and contemporary art, the expression of narrative is expanding in various ways based on formal theory. And the expression form is maximized according to the use of each medium. In terms of understanding artworks, an approach that combines various expressions and media using these narratives is also possible. Therefore, this study analyzed the works of the artists by selecting three artists, Sadic Guissi Alfrazi, Lindsay Sears, and Kara Walker, who fused the media using narrative structures. Through this, it was intended to present the artistic value and significance of the work and the possibility of expanding the narrative expression of contemporary art in the future. As a result of the analysis of previous artists' works, it was shown that the phase of convergence can be derived by using the medium of narrative concepts beyond the dichotomy of content and form, confirming that digital technology and media development are changing the form of art. In addition, it was confirmed that the use of narrative structure facilitates media conversion. It is expected that discussions on the new paradigm of contemporary art will progress in the future.
