This study aimed to understand how discourses on DE&I with in the fashion industry are reconstructed and practiced in society. Therefore, this paper analyzed DE&I in the fashion industry, by focusing on the New York Times articles, employing a quantitative research model based on corpus analysis and a qualitative approach through critical discourse analysis. Results of the analysis of textual practice, showed that the New York Times emphasized black individuals as the central discourse and created a critical racial narrative regarding DE&I in the fashion industry characterized by a dichotomy of black vs. white confrontation. Furthermore, results of the discourse practice analysis revealed that the dichotomy of racial confrontation in the New York Times article tended to select the subject of discourse related to racial DE&I in the fashion industry according based on social and historical context. Thirdly, the analytical results of sociocultural practices indicated that the dichotomous racial discourse between black and white, propagated by the New York Times, spread across social media, transforming fashion from an industry to a domain where black individuals struggle for human rights.

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the level of intellectual capital disclosure (ICD) in commercial banks listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange. This paper also observed the effects of ICD and corporate governance mechanism on market value. This study uses content analysis techniques to measure ICD. The paper provides a novel approach to measure the ICD quality in developing countries using a four-numerical coding system. Secondary data were obtained from the financial statements and annual reports of the banks for the period 2011-2014. The data from 31 banks were analyzed using ordinary least square regression. The study reports that the quality of intellectual capital disclosure in Indonesian commercial banks increase steadily. Narrative disclosure dominates the report of intellectual capital in Indonesian banks. The results indicate that the size of audit committee, frequency of audit committee meeting, and intellectual capital disclosure affect positively the market value. Overall, the results indicate intellectual capital disclosure is associated with the market capitalization; these findings indicate that the ICD is a consideration in a stock investment decision. While regulations in Indonesia regarding intellectual capital reporting are not conclusive yet, the information needs of stakeholders have encouraged companies to expand voluntary disclosure.

  • Trauma remains a significant healthcare burden, causing over five million yearly fatalities. Notably, the liver is a frequently injured solid organ in abdominal trauma, especially in patients under 40 years. It becomes even more critical given that uncontrolled hemorrhage linked to liver trauma can have mortality rates ranging from 10% to 50%. Liver injuries, mainly resulting from blunt trauma such as motor vehicle accidents, are traditionally classified using the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma grading scale. However, recent developments have introduced the World Society of Emergency Surgery classification, which considers the patient's physiological status. The diagnostic approach often involves multiphase computed tomography (CT). Still, newer methods like split-bolus single-pass CT and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) aim to reduce radiation exposure. Concerning management, nonoperative strategies have emerged as the gold standard, especially for hemodynamically stable patients. Incorporating angiography with embolization has also been beneficial, with success rates reported between 80% and 97%. However, it is essential to identify the specific source of bleeding for effective embolization. Given the severity of liver trauma and its potential complications, innovations in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches have been pivotal. While CT remains a primary diagnostic tool, methods like CEUS offer safer alternatives. Moreover, nonoperative management, especially when combined with angiography and embolization, has demonstrated notable success. Still, the healthcare community must remain vigilant to complications and continuously seek improvements in trauma care.

  • Objectives: "Exploring the origin of acupuncture medicine (針灸逢源)", a classical title of acupuncture medicine in the 19th century, has been reviewed with focus on its impact on the standardization of acupoint in the history of acupuncture medicine as an approach of yin-yang balancing medicine like the Temporomandibular joint Balancing Medicine. Methods: A narrative review of literature was performed with a focus on continuous development and revision of the knowledge system of acupuncture medicine in medical education and clinical application. Results: This title has provided a systematized knowledge on acupoint-acupuncutre including 361 acupoints, acupoint location, and acupoint-meridian association, which was adopted as a frame of core knowledge in modern acupuncture medicine. Critical review and rational reasoning on previously accepted but apparently incongruous strips of knowledge led to the accomplishment of this title. Conclusions: This title provided a revised and standard knowledge system in the field of medical education and clinical practice of acupuncture medicine, and also provided an exemplary model of unrelenting change and development of an approach based on the concept of yin-yang balance such as acupuncture medicine and the Temporomandibular joint Balancing Medicine.

  • Even though cartoons and narration comics were born from different origin, they have been called by names such as 'cartoons' or 'comics'. The reason can be found in the similarity of cartoons and narration comics. The similarity of cartoons and narration comics is the genre consisting of writing and drawing. Writing can be the format of expression and it can represent the story. Such story is present as a component of 'narration'. Sub genre of comics includes cartoons and narration comics. It includes animation in a broad range. In cases of narration comics and animation, it is thought that narration is present with continuity of time. However, in case of cartoon, because one or two cuts without continuity of writing are frequently expressed, it is being asked whether narration is present. It is easy to be reminded of epic or chanson de geste whenever you hear 'narration'. Since it deals with a biography of the character, we think the concept of 'narration' with temporality. However, narration provides a certain event in a broad range. Thus, cartoons presenting one event with the image may have the existence of narration, because description of multiple scenes of narrative comics can be implicitly represented in cartoons. As such implications leave a space, the empty space can be filled by active reasoning of recipients. However, nevertheless, it is very difficult to find studies as well as mentions of narration in cartoons. Thus, in this paper, we investigate the concept and structure of narration and demonstrate the presence of narration in cartoons. First of all, we looked at the narration theory in literature before studying narration in cartoons. The reason is that we thought the approach to the literary theory was required in order to investigate the basic elements, since cartoons are a collection of writing and drawing. We were focused on the prerequisites of narration presented in "story and discourse" of s. Chatman. If the prerequisites of narration are present, we can assume that the narration is present. The prerequisites are 'narration reasoning', 'screening', 'consistency', 'process statements' and 'stasis statement'. As s. Chatman described them as prerequisites of narration, he analyzed the narration structures of films and novels. In addition, we revealed that the narrations were present in cartoons as we identified how prerequisites of narration presented by Chatman were presented and expressed through "vocabulary of comics", "Timeframe" and "life in the line" described in "understanding comics" by Scott McCloud.

  • Purpose: Recently teaching nursing to undergraduate students has been based on the constructive teaching method to achieve the core nursing competency. Therefore, non-traditional teaching methods should be introduced for a stimulated interaction between the lecturer and students and to increase information retention and interest in nursing. The purpose of this paper was to review current issues related to the use of cinema in nursing education. Method: A literature review was conducted to grasp the definition of cinemeducation and to identify the uses, merits, and demerits of using cinema in nursing education. Conclusion: Cinemeducation is an innovative approach to teaching multi-cultural diversity in medicine and nursing. It is possible to conduct cinemeducation to deepen student's understanding of cross-cultural issues and to evoke imagination, empathy, and narrative. Movies are funny, entertaining, and readily enjoyed by learners. Since individuals portrayed in movies are not real, learners can be more honest and objective about their reactions to these characters. In addition, movies as instructional media are economical. I would like to suggest more curriculum development for the use of movies.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of an education program integrating self-efficacy theory and narratives on self-efficacy, knowledge, and resilience in women with breast cancer. Methods: This study employed a nonequivalent control group posttest only design. A 3-day program consisting of sessions in which participants shared their experiences of breast cancer, lectures on breast cancer, and breast self-examinations was implemented. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires in 2013. Results: The mean age of participants was $50.8{\pm}5.3$; approximately half (52.8%) had Stage II breast cancer at the time of diagnosis. The results showed that the levels of self-efficacy, knowledge, and resilience were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (p<.05). Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that programs integrating self-efficacy theory and narratives would be effective in promoting resilience as well as self-efficacy and knowledge in women with breast cancer. Further studies are needed to identify the effects of such education programs for people with other types of cancer or chronic illnesses.

  • Deleuze and Guattari introduced the concept of minority groups resisting the majorit. Minority groups consist of individuals who are excluded and marginalized by the majority. They advocate for a society in which these individuals, through mutual solidarity, can escape prejudice and fixed ideologies and lead a dignified human life. In this context, through his novels featuring protagonists with disabilities, Stéphane aimed to create an ideal societal atmosphere. The characters with disabilities in the novels incessantly strive toward life goals, emphasizing the importance of the process of effort and progress, even if the ultimate goals are not achieved. The dedicated pursuit of goals and the journey toward them hold significance beyond the attainment of objectives. Such an attitude and approach toward life by minority individuals is deemed sufficient to challenge the power structures established by the majority. This narrative challenges the societal norm and power structures, which highlights the value and meaning found in the process of striving and progressing, and ultimately contributes to breaking down societal barriers and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

  • Never Ending Story is an animation work about the stories of the Japanese Sex Slavery Victims who were taken by the Japanese military and forced to sexual slavery, which tormented them with painful memories all their lives. This animation work stimulates the critical perspectives of the audiences in order to ensure a history-based approach based on facts. And, unlike general character animation works which pursue immersion and empathy through illusion of life that are created by the characters, this work demands the audiences to contemplate on historical facts described in the work and make their own judgements. In order to serve these purposes, this work is characterized by its aesthetics properties and elements such as 'sympathy', 'typification', and 'alienation effect'. And, these elements effectively deliver the reality of historical facts that cannot be denied in a chronological narrative. Therefore, this study would sufficiently be of a value in reviewing the diversity in expression and the methodologies used in them, let alone the significance of the theme itself.
