A Study on an Electric Power System Design of a Small Electric Vehicle (소형 전기자동차의 전기동력시스템에 관한 연구)

  • The electric power system design of the electric vehicle are required to improve the performance. The electric power system on the electric vehicle are consist of a battery, a pedal sensor, an electric motor and a controller. In this paper, Automotive manufacture's various electric vehicle models are investigated and analyzed. The mathematical models for the electric power system are studied, and then important variables are considered. Simulation and experimental test results show the model of the electric power system on the electric vehicle and design parameter decision are effective to the electric vehicle design.

  • According to revolutionary developments in automobile technologies, eco-friendly advanced vehicles (hybrid vehicle, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, electric vehicle, etc.) are rapidly increasing. The electromagnetic compatibility is getting more important for development of a vehicle because those advanced vehicles are driven by electric energy and equipped with more electric systems. In general, electromagnetic compatibility tests consist of an electromagnetic interference(EMI) test and an electromagnetic susceptibility(EMS) test. EMI test of the electric vehicles are needed not only in driving mode but also in charging mode because they must be recharged by much electric energy for driving. Depending on vehicle manufacturers, the charging device type and the location of charging device inlet in electric vehicles are various. In this paper, in order to investigate EMI of electric vehicles in charging mode in consideration of the direction of measuring antenna and the location of charging device inlet, a series of electromagnetic emission tests are conducted using three electric vehicles (neighborhood electric vehicle, electric vehicle and electric vehicle-bus). The test results show that electromagnetic emission measurements in charging mode are dependent on the direction of measuring antenna and the location of charging device inlet.

  • There is a growing interest in hybrid electric vehicles due to environmental concerns. Recent efforts are directed toward developing an improved main component systems for the hybrid electric vehicle applications. Soon after the introduction of electric starter for internal combustion engine early this century, despite being energy efficient and nonpolluting, electric vehicle lost the battle completly to internal combustion engine due to its limited range and inferior performance. Hybrid Electric vehicles offer the most promising solutions to reduce the emission of vehicles. This paper describes a method for cost reduction estimation of parallel hybrid electric vehicle. We used a cost reduction structure that consisted of five major subsystems (three-type and two-type motor) for parallel hybrid electric vehicle. Especially, we estimated the potential for cost reductions in parallel hybrid electric vehicle as a function of time using the learning curve. Also, we estimated the potentials of cost by depreciation.

Universal mode of driving cycle has been used to make up the actual vehicle performance, and its results are incorporated to the design of E-D/T.

  • Vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components; an alternator and a battery, supplies electric power to vehicle electric and electronic systems. In recent years, bigger power supply is required for the rapid demand of the number of vehicle electric and electronic systems. It is important that vehicle power system should be analyzed exactly. For the simulation of vehicle electric power system, appropriate component model of vehicle electric power system should be chosen. In this paper, a simplified and accurate battery model is developed to obtain the battery parameters, and a Variable Alternator Terminal Voltage Model is introduced to described an alternator. The case study shows that simulation results using the suggested models are well agreed with the experiments.

A Study of Servitization Strategy for Electric Vehicles

  • Purpose - This study proposes a framework for service innovation strategy to cope with the emergence of electric vehicles. Research design, data, and methodology - This study designs an electric-vehicle lease program and collects the resulting data to analyze. By analyzing the previous studies on the electric-vehicle market with cases, a theoretical framework based on existing theories is to be set. Results - This study proposes a strategy for the rapid diffusion of electric vehicles. First, a partitioned-pricing system is proposed to create an advantage for electric vehicles in terms of initial purchasing cost relative to traditional internal combustion vehicles. Second, focusing on reducing switching costs is important because electric vehicles have relatively low resale values due to the uncertainty of battery life. Third, a battery-leasing strategy is supposed to reduce the cost of switching from a traditional internal combustion vehicle to an electric vehicle. Conclusions - This paper can provide strategic guidance for decision makers in firms that have already entered the electric-vehicle leasing market by making a recommendation such as a service innovation strategy. The proposed strategy can be considered as an electric vehicle market in the future and can contribute to the wider diffusion of electric vehicles.

VEHICLE ELECTRIC POWER SIMULATOR FOR OPTIMIZING THE ELECTRIC CHARGING SYSTEM

  • The vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components: a generator and a battery, which have to provide numerous electrical and electronic systems with enough electrical energy. A detailed understanding of the characteristics of the electric power system, electrical load demands, and the driving environment such as road, season, and vehicle weight is required when the capacities of the generator and the battery are to be determined for a vehicle. An easy-to-use and inexpensive simulation program may be needed to avoid the over/under design problem of the electric power system. A vehicle electric power simulator is developed in this study. The simulator can be utilized to determine the optimal capacities of generators and batteries. To improve the expandability and easy usage of the simulation program, the program is organized in modular structures, and is run on a PC. Empirical electrical models of various generators and batteries, and the structure of the simulation program are presented. For executing the vehicle electric power simulator, data of engine speed profile and electric loads of a vehicle are required, and these data are obtained from real driving conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of the simulator, numerous driving data of a vehicle are logged and analyzed.

A Study on Factors in Electric Vehicle's Purchase Intention of Chinese Consumers (중국 소비자의 전기자동차 구매의도 요인에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose - In China, electric vehicle industry has been increased attention as a environmental friendly transportation to solve pollution problems, and still growing to solve a technological gap issues in automobile industry. Although the interest of electric vehicle is getting bigger, there are not many studies that showing consumers' intention to purchase an electric vehicle. Because of this phenomenon, this study tried to find the factors which can affect the purchase intention of electric vehicle. Research design, data, and methodology - Drawing on the Planned Behavior Theory(TPB), this study examined attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm of environmental protection, and the influence of economic benefits on purchase intention through survey. we measure 233 Chinese samples. Results - The results showed that attitude toward electric vehicles, subjective norms of environmental protection, and economic benefits had a significant effect on purchase intention. To be specific, the consciousness of environmental protection, economic considerations, product image and its characteristic are all considerable aspects from the standpoint of Chinese consumers. In addition, we found that the higher the age group, the weaker relationship between attitude toward electric vehicle and purchase intention. Conclusion - This study suggests that diverse factors related to the purchase intention of electric car in China market and Chinese consumers. Especially, economic benefit factors, which have a statistically significant and significant influence on the purchase intention of electric vehicles, are not significant variables in the existing electric vehicle research. This result is considered to be the result of the fact that the electric vehicle is not only an automobile having an environmentally friendly factor but also a product which makes it consider the economic situation. Put together, the results of this paper give us the theoretical basis for establishing an electric vehicle marketing strategy in the rapidly changing Chinese market. Also, this paper will provide new ventures for marketing and distribution strategies for Korean companies that are looking to expand into China.

  • In this paper, we focus on the study of educational contents using real vehicle based electric vehicle diagnosis system. To understand the electric vehicle, we describe the driving modes and operating principles of the core components and electric vehicles that make up the electric vehicles. In addition, we implemented a diagnostic system for analyzing the characteristics of the electric vehicle test bed and analyzed the characteristics of the vehicle based on the driving mode.

  • Although the number of domestic electric vehicle registrations exceeded 100,000 in the first half of 2020, legal and institutional concerns for maintenance and management are insufficient. In particular, the existing automobile maintenance business and qualification holders are not prohibited from performing electric vehicle maintenance without additional qualifications or training under the current laws. In this study, we review the current status of Korean laws and regulations, examine discussions abroad such as the UK, the US, and Germany, and then discuss desirable laws and institutional reform. This study proposes to temporarily reorganize the system in a way that separates the electric vehicle maintenance business and the electric vehicle maintenance qualifications from conventional vehicle.
