Computer-Assisted Virtual Simulation and Surgical Treatment for Facial Asymmetry Induced by Fibrous Dysplasia

  • Fibrous dysplasia(FD) is a disorder in which normal bone is replaced with pathologic tissue. When occurring in craniofacial regions, the zygomaticomaxillary complex is most commonly affected and this pathologic lesion results in facial asymmetry. and By using computer-assisted virtual simulation, precise maxillofacial contouring was achieved for harmonious facial morphology and the surgical procedure was simplified and the surgery brought satisfactory results in terms of both esthetics and functionality.

  • This paper concerns the progressive die design for an automotive bracket part aided by the computer simulation in order to eliminate the inferiority such as the crack. The computer simulation of the progressive forming process is utilized in order to investigate cause of the cracks. This paper proposes a new guideline for the die design which modifies intermediate shapes and adds intermediate forming stages in progressive forming process. The effectiveness of the proposed design is verified by the computer simulation. The simulation result shows that the modified die design for the progressive forming process can eliminate the crack and improve quality of the automotive bracket part.

실험과 컴퓨터 모사 결과를 동시에 이용하여 직교배열표로 설계하는 방법 (A Design Methodology with Orthogonal Arrays Using Experiments and Computer Simulations)

  • Generally, automatic design is carried out with computer simulation and the simulation models are established by investigating the correlations between the simulation and real experiments. Therefore, the experiment results are utilized as complimentary data although they are considered to be precise. Orthogonal arrays have been adopted for discrete design. A method is proposed to directly exploit the experiment results in the design process with orthogonal arrays. Experiments are allocated to some rows of an orthogonal array and computer simulations are allocated to the others. A rule for the allocation is found to keep the orthogonality. Error analysis of the design results is performed. Mathematical examples are made to verify the validity of the proposed method. Error models are defined with the examples and the design solutions from the examples are discussed.

  • In this paper, the real time simulation of continuous dynamic system was performed by general integration algorithms using multiprocessor. For the stable simulation, the relation between stability of integration method and integration step-size was investigated from the stability graph. As a typical illustration, the real-time digital simulation and the real-time hard-ware-in-the-loop simulation of flight control system were performed and reviewed. Moreover through the real-time simulation, the design verification and performace test of flight control system could be evaluated. The computer used for simulation is AD10, which is a very high-speed special-purpose computer designed specifically for a time-critical simulation of large and complex models of dynamic systems. The simulation validity is demonstrated by comparing hardware simulation results with software simulation results.

아트리움 공간의 수직공기온도분포 계산을 위한 수학모형의 작성 (Mathematical Modeling for Calculating the Vertical Air Temperature Distribution in an Atrium Space)

  • This study aims to propose a simplified mathematical model for calculating vertical air temperature distribution in a four-sided atrium. In the first stage of the mathematical modeling, the computer model combined zonal model and solar radiation model using Monte Carlo method and Ray tracing technique went through a computer simulation with architectural variables applied to a four-sided atrium in summer. In the next stage, Curve Expert, a computer program that gets the most suitable solution ac-cording to the least squares method, is used to analyze the results of the computer simulation and to derive the mathematical model. The accuracy of the mathematical model was evaluated through a comparison of calculation results from a mathematical model and computer simulation. In this validation step using the least square method, the R2 value of the Zones 1, 2 and 3 showed higher than 0.945. Zone 4 has an R2 value of 0.911, lower than the previous three zones. However the relative error was below 0.5%, which is considered very small.

  • 본 연구는 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽 제작 산업분야에서 최근 가장 경쟁력 있는 분야로 대두되고 있는 연구/개발(R&D) 분야에서 "불의 표현을 중심으로 국내 관련업체들의 기술적 한계를 제시하고 해외 및 국내 애니메이션 제작에서 성공한 기술적 R&D의 과정과 그 결과를 통해 이러한 기술적 한계를 어떻게 극복해야 하는지에 대한 해답을 제시함으로써 과도기를 거쳐 제2의 도약기를 준비하는 국내 컴퓨터 그래픽 애니메이션 산업의 부흥에 도움이 되고자하는 목적으로 연구를 진행하고 있다. 흔히 CT와 IT의 상호 보완적인 특징을 활용한다면 이러한 문제 해결을 넘어 기술적 우위를 확보할 수 있다. 우리는 특히 컴퓨터 그래픽 제작 과정 중 물, 불, 바람, 구름 등의 Simulation System분야와 수십만 캐릭터의 집단행동 또는 단체행동 System 활용도를 중심으로 연구를 진행하였다. 그 중에서 본 논문은 불의 표현에 중점을 두고 실제 작업에 활용된 데이터를 기준으로 그 해답을 제시하였으며 기존의 국내에서 사용하던 전통적 활용방법과 각 연구단체에서 활발하게 진행 중인 프로젝트를 소개하고 본 연구의 적용과정과 결과를 소개함으로써 현업 종사자들에게 향 후 R&D 분야의 나아갈 방향을 제시하고자한다. 창조적인 부재에 너무 집착한 나머지 기술적인 연구 개발부분에의 소홀함이 향 후 미국이나 일본과의 더 큰 기술적 문제로 대두될 수 있음을 명심하고 지금부터라도 과감하고 결단력 있는 기술력의 연구 개발이 필요한 시점이다.

Validation of Generalized State Space Averaging Method for Modeling and Simulation of Power Electronic Converters for Renewable Energy Systems

  • This paper presents an advanced modeling and simulation technique applied to DC/DC power electronic converters fed through renewable energy power sources. The distributed generation (DG) system at the Illinois Institute of Technology, which employs a phase-l system consisting of a photovoltaic-based power system and a phase-2 system consisting of a fuel cell based primary power source, is studied. The modeling and simulation of the DG system is done using the generalized state space averaging (GSSA) method. Furthermore, the paper compares the results achieved upon simulation of the specific GSSA models with those of popular computer aided design software simulations performed on the same system. Finally, the GSSA and CAD software simulation results are accompanied with test results achieved via experimentation on both, the PV-based phase-l system and the fuel cell based phase-2 power system.

  • 컴퓨터와 더불어 멀티미디어의 발전은 가상현실이라는 신기술을 만들어 내게 하였고 가상현실 분야 중 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 기술은 항공, 자동차, 의학, 스포츠, 교육, 패션 분야에 이르기까지 그 적용이 확대되고 있다 본 연구는 헤어스타일링 분야에서 기존의 2차원 헤어시뮬레이션의 개발 및 상용 현황과, 연구 단계에 있는 3차원 헤어스타일 시뮬레이션의 개발 현황을 살펴본다. 아울러 현재 개발된 3차원 헤어스타일 시뮬레이션이 상용화하기 위해서는 3D 시스템 부스의 조정, 저가 저화질의 카메라 개선 등의 문제점이 있음을 제시하였다. 이를 개선하기 위해서 object photography 방식에서 panoramic photography 방식의 전환, 중 고가의 고화질 카메라로의 대체들을 제안한다.

  • The Combat Computer Consoles installed in surface ships should endure harsh environment such as vibration from engine or propeller and shock from underwater explosion. Generally, commercial isolation mounts are selected and used for anti-vibration and anti-shock design. In this research, the environment of the Combat Computer Console was analyzed first. Selected proper mount was modeled and computer simulation was performed to emulate the environment test. The real environment test was conducted with a manufactured Combat Computer Console. The test results were same as the simulation and satisfied the performance requirements. The computer simulation proved to be a useful design tool to predict the performance before the final environment test.
