  • Written as her last collaboration with the Provincetown Players, Susan Glaspell's The Verge is an exceptional play in that its formal experiment and modernist theme are clear of her general modernist ambivalence which combines a uniquely American and feminist expression of the modernist spirit with rather conventional forms. Following critics' brief and generalizing comments on the play's protagonist embodying modernist formalism and alienation, this paper offers a full and concrete survey detailing the tenets and the slogans of Modernism inlaid in the play. Its main argument is that Glaspell strategically deployed the metaphysics of egoism, anarchic hostility to the collectiveness of bourgeois society, and formalist preoccupation in Modernism in representing a female egoist's longing for a new order of society, illustrating an intersection between Modernism and feminism. It concludes that The Verge is an extremely rare case of modernist literature where a play, allegedly the least modernist genre of all according to Christopher Innes, exemplifies the "eloquent critical acts entangled in the creative work" which Michael Levenson lists as a distinct feature of modernist texts.

  • The open approach to teaching school mathematics in the United States is an outcome of the collaboration of Japanese and U. S. researchers. We examine the approach by illustrating its three aspects: 1) Open process (there is more than one way to arrive at the solution to a problem; 2) Open-ended problems (a problem can have several of many correct answers), and 3) What the Japanese call 'from problem to problem' or problem formulation (students draw on their own thinking to formulate new problems). Using our understanding of the Japanese open approach to teaching mathematics, we adapt selected methods to teach mathematics more effectively in the United States. Much of this approach is new to U. S. mathematics teachers, in that it has teachers working together in groups on lesson plans, and through a series of discussions and revisions, results in a greatly improved, effective plan. It also has teachers actively observing individual students or groups of students as they work on a problem, and then later comparing and discussing the students' work.

  • This study examines the effectiveness of the study through a case of PBL(problem-based-learning) class conducted in a balanced culture course called at 00- University in the second semester of 2020. The effects of learning are as follows: First, PBL(problem-based-learning) has sufficient active interaction between the teacher and the learner. In the face of prolonged non-face-to-face learning, the PBL teaching method has sufficient interaction between the professors-learner and the learner. Second, PBL learning can actively utilize various problems that fit the characteristics of the subject and actively utilize the process of role sharing and collaboration. By presenting various problem situations suitable for the subject, students will be able to share roles individually or as a team, and fully experience the process of collaboration and discussion in the process of investigating the data. Third, critical perceptions of problem situations can be extended. In modern times, a variety of problem situations arise and critical perceptions of them must be fully learned. In a mass production and mass consumption society, students should develop the ability to blindly recognize and distinguish between real and fake information in a flood of information. The limitations identified in this class case are, first, the nature of the subject, "Understanding Culture and Philosophy," which makes it possible to discuss the global cultural phenomenon, but it should be discussed in terms of philosophy. Second, it is not easy to work as a team on non-face-to-face online. Nevertheless, PBL is a very effective method of learning in which active interactions and learning activities take place between professors and students, whether face-to-face or face-to-face online learning.

However, there is a definite research gap in how it reduces stress within the impacts oriental art therapy on business workers. Therefore, this research will be significant in finding out what oriental art therapy has reduced work-related stress and increased satisfaction among business workers. Research design, data, and methodology - For this research, the dependent variable was the significance of oriental art therapy, and the dependent variable was reducing work-related stress and increasing the satisfaction of business workers. The study's hypothesis was oriental art therapy reduces work-related stress and increases the satisfaction of business workers. A quantitative quasi-experimental pilot design was the most appropriate for this study. Result - This research figured out that the art therapy affect significantly reducing work-related stress among business workers, removing the level of anxiety, improving employee's feeling, and so leading to improvement in communication and collaboration each other in the organization. Conclusion - The results of the investigation imply that oriental art therapy can significantly improve the workers' satisfaction in a business. The research shows how successfully some of the interventions introduced in the medical supply company fully transformed the workers' lives.

  • Information technology has changed the human life as well as the societal and economic paradigm. New office environments have been proposed to cope with emerging changes and to support working performances by reducing costs of office operation and business. Recently, office environments have adopted ubiquitous computing with a focus on collaboration to promote real-time enterprises. They become equipped with various mobile devices and pervasive technologies in wireless networks. This study aims to propose a direction for the adoption of mobile and pervasive computing on the new office environment. We investigate relate works and analyze new office types including mobile offices, telework centers and home offices. Using a customized questionnaire, the current conditions of the office environments and officers' demands were investigated and analyzed. In the end, we propose the direction for a ubiquitous office environment with a focus on two attributes, ubiquity and mobility. This research will be a basis for the development of ubiquitous offices that support the professionalism of works in practices.

  • This exploratory study considers the difference between personal and perceived societal values related to South Korean women's role in the home, workplace, and society using eight items asked on the Korean Academic Multimode Open Survey (KAMOS), May-July 2017. Factor analysis showed that these eight items could be grouped into two categories: women's role in her family and women's in the outside world. Of the 2,000 respondents, 54.1% personally agreed that "Both the husband and wife should contribute to their family income." People in their 30s felt the largest gap between their personal and societal values; women also felt a larger gap than men. Those who watched television more were generally more conservative than those who used the Internet more. People who felt a smaller gap between societal and personal values were more likely to feel proud to be a Korean citizen. People who believe that it is better not to marry felt a bigger gap between some societal and personal values on items relating to whether a wife should work, whether a woman's housework or paid job is more valuable, and whether women's job performance is equal to men's. People who believe that divorce is sometimes acceptable were also more likely to feel a bigger difference in two items: the item about job performance and an item about whether a married woman's social status is dependent on her husband's.

  • The IPTV Standardization work being done by the ITU-T in collaboration with other SDOs and telecommunication companies. Currently IPTV services are provided with no global standards and interoperability. ITU-T leads the process of IPTV standardization. We used the ITU-Ts working documents which were publically available to investigate the direction of IPTV standardization process. Many things including architecture, services, service requirements, codec and error correction mechanisms etc already defined through recommendations. But still there is effort going on to standardize the complete IPTV system.
