  • A fourteen-year-old mongrel female dog that was 22 kg and had two large mammary tumor lesions was admitted to the Animal Teaching Hospital of Chonbuk National University. Two large mammary tumor lesions were observed in the right caudal thoracic and the left inguinal mammary glands, which were sized 6 cm and 5 cm in diameter, respectively. These tumor lesions were removed by block mastectomy, then large skin defect of 7 cm diameter in caudal abdominal wall were recoverd by classic Z-plasty in both medial thigh. Classic Z-plasty was designed with 60 in angle and, with 6 cm in length of central limb in right medial thigh and 4 cm in left, respectively. This patient had been recoverd to normal gait and behavior at 20 days after the plastic operation.

  • This paper proposes a new type of voltage sag-swell compensator based on a Z-source AC-AC converter. The proposed topology employs a pulse width modulation (PWM) Z-source AC-AC converter along with a injection transformer. A safe commutation strategy is used to eliminate voltage spikes on switches without snubber circuit. During a voltage sag or swell, the proposed system controls the adding or missing voltage and maintains the rated voltage of sinusoidal waveform at the terminals of the critical loads. The proposed system is able to compensate 20[%] voltage swell and is also able to compensate 60[%] voltage sag. In order to control and detect the voltage sag and swell, the peak voltage detection method is applied. Also, the operating principles of the proposed system are described, and a circuit analysis is provided. Finally, PSIM simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed concept and theoretical analysis.

  • In this literature, fault detection and classification of faulty induction motors are carried out through Z-index and frequency analysis. Above frequency analysis refer Fourier transformation and Wavelet transformation. Z-index is defined as the similar form of energy function, also the faulty and healthy conditions are classified through Z-index. For the detection and classification feature extraction for the fault detection of an induction motor is carried out using the information from stator current. Fourier and Wavelet transforms are applied to detect the characteristics under the healthy and various faulty conditions. We can obtain feature vectors from two transformations, and the results illustrate that the feature vectors are complementary each other.

  • The diastereoselectivity in the photocyclization of α-(o-ethylphenyl)acetophenone(1) to 1-methyl-2-phenyl-2-indanol was studied in zeolites X and Y, and compared with that in isotropic solvents. The yields of E-diastereomer at the irradiation of 1 in protic solvents were higher than those in aprotic solvents. The ratios of E-diastereomer to Z-diastereomer in zeolites X and Y were much higher than those in isotropic solvents. The E/Z ratios at the irradiation of 1 in zeolites X were also found to be dependent on the cations present. As the cation size increased from Li+ to Cs+, the ratio decreased. However, any pattern in the E/Z ratios was not found in zeolites Y. The diastereoselectivity observed in the zeolites was interpreted by the conformational restriction imposed by the cavity size. An efficient oxidation of 1 in zeolites RbX and CsX was also observed.

  • The epidermal structure and development of stomata in four taxa of Zingiberaceae viz: Aframomum melegueta K. Schum, Aframomum sceptrum K. Schum, Curcuma longa L. and Zingiber officinale Rosc. have been investigated. Unicellular, eglandular trichomes are observed on the epidermis of A. sceptrum and Z. officienal. Anomocytic stomata with agenous ontogeny, paracitic stomata with eumesogenous ontogeny and tetracytic stomata with mesoperigenous ontogency are recorded in Z. officinale, Aframomum species and C. longa respectively. Stomata of Z. officinale are the smallest in size (20.6$\times$14.3$\times$10.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) while those of C. longa are the largest (42.5$\times$31.5$\times$20.2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$). These two taxa also recorded the highest (43.7/mm2) and lowest (28.6/mm2) stomatal frequency respectively which suggests a linear regression of frequency on size.

  • Biological characteristics of 5 Zanthoxylum schinifolium (Zs) fruits such as Z1 (early August), Z2 (middle August), Z3 (middle September), Z4 (early October) and Z5 (middle October) according to harvesting time were evaluated. As fruits ripened, average weight of Zs increased from 4.8mg (Z1) to 50.7mg (Z5), while moisture contents decreased from 74.6% (Z1) to 55.2% (Z5). Crude fat contents of the fruits during ripening increased from 1% (Z1) to 10.6% (Z5). The major fatty acids in Zs were palmitic (C16:0), palmitoleic (C16:1), oleic (C18:1), and linoleic (C18:2) acids. Linoleic acid (C18:2) was a main fatty acid in Z1 and Z2, whereas oleic acid (C18:1) was found as a main one in the other Zs. The ratio of unsaturated fatty acid to total fatty acids increased from 60% (Z1) to 80% (Z3~Z5) during ripening. Among ripening stages, Z4 had the highest contents of total fatty acids ($3,355{\mu}g/g$) and total unsaturated fatty acids ($2,753{\mu}g/g$). Forty six volatile compounds in Zs were also identified. The major volatile compounds were ${\alpha}-pinene$, ${\beta}-myrcene$, ${\beta}-ocimene$, 2-nonanone, estragole, 2-undecanone, and ${\beta}-caryophyllene$. Major volatile components of Z1 were ${\beta}-ocimene$ (20.8 peak area %) and ${\alpha}-pinene$ (9.7 peak area %). In Z2, estragole (30.1 peak area %) was a main volatile compound, but the contents of ${\alpha}-pinene$ (0.4 peak area %), ${\beta}-myrcene$ (0.3 peak area %), and ${\beta}-ocimene$ (0.6 peak area %) were lower than those in Z1. Especially, estragole used as perfumes and as a food additive for flavor was drastically increased to 91.2 (Z3) and 92% (Z4) as fruits ripened.

  • Low-Z particle electron probe X-ray microanalysis (low-Z particle EPMA) was applied to characterize aerosol particles collected at Gosan in Jeju island during an IOP (intensive observation period) for an international ACE-Asia project in April, 2001. Various types of atmospheric particles such as organics, carbon-rich, aluminosilicates, silicon oxide, sodium nitrate, sodium chloride, and ammonium sulfate were observed. The reacted sea salt particles such as sodium nitrate were the most abundantly encountered, but original sea salt particles were rarely observed. Since the Low-Z particle EPMA can provide quantitative information on the chemical composition of aerosol particles, many different particle types on the basis of their chemical compositions were observed and identified. In this study, it is demonstrated that the Low-Z particle EPMA can provide detailed information on the chemical compositions for the aerosol particles collected for six consecutive days in April, 2001, at Gosan super-site.
