  • Strength and displacement of jig body in index machine utilized for multiprocess machining such as drilling, boring and tapping, etc, at the same time were analyzed by the use of finite element analysis soft ware ANSYS 5.2A. The whole geometry was constructed by 4048 elements and 7016 nodes employing 8 node brick element. The analyses were carried out on five loading cases combining vertical and horizontal machining to simulate the case occurring large displacement and the one occurring small displacement one and provided following conclusions. (1) Jig body had sufficient strength because its safety factor was 6.95 even in the most severe loading case. (2) The largest displacement in Z direction was 549 m and that in radial direction was 43.7 m. (3) In order to reduce the displacement, vertical machining rather than horizontal or two or three processes should be adopted in the same station. (4) Alternate change of horizontal machining direction at consecutive stations can reduce the displace ment. (5) The dimension of the slider should be increased to reduce the displacement by the tolerance in the sliding part. (6) A bypass idle piston head needs to be installed to give a counterpart supporting load from opposite direction for a single horizontal machining case.

  • The objectives of this study were to analyze ecological characteristics of fish compositions and estimate the optimal ecological flow using the physical habitat simulation system (PHABSIM) in Wonju stream and Boseong river. We sampled fishes using two gears such as casting net and kicknet to determine fish distribution and also measured flow velocity, water depth, bed material at the point where fish collected. Total number of species and individuals sampled were 20 and 2,104, respectively and dominant species was Zacco platypus (39.7%) and subdominant species was Z. koreanus (RA: 15.8%) in Wonju stream. In Boseong river, collected fishes were 1,638 individuals, 28 species. Dominant and sub-dominant species was Z. platypus (RA: 22.0%) and Microphysogobio yaluensis (RA: 17.2%), respectively. For calculating habitat suitability index (HSI), we selected Z. platypus as representative fish species and analyzed water depth and flow velocity. Water depth and flow velocity were 0.2-0.6 m, 0.1-0.3 m/s, respectively in Wonju stream and 0.3-0.6 m, 0-0.3 m/s, respectively in Boseong river. According to the analysis of ecological flow simulation, optimal flow was 1.1 cms and 0.3 cms in Wonju stream and 0.4cms, 2.2cms in Boseong river at up and down stream respectively. WUA (Weighted Usable Area) was 9.5%, 26.6% in Wonju stream and 34.8%, 53.3% in Boseong river at up and down stream respectively.

  • To study the positioning error according to the use of belly board and body mass index (BMI) for rectal cancer radiotherapy, a retrospective study was conducted on 114 patients from January 2012 to March 2013. The median age of the patients was 58 (29-83 years), mean BMI was $23.35kg/m^2$ ($16.55-31.15kg/m^2$), 31 patients used belly board and 83 did not use belly board. There were a total of 527 AP & LAT images of treatment (EPID), and the mean and standard deviation of each X, Y, Z axis were $1.66{\pm}1.55mm$, $1.64{\pm}1.56mm$, and $1.99{\pm}1.75mm$, respectively. Based on the BMI of 24 or higher, error occurrence risk of higher or equal to 2mm on Z axis was 4.8 times higher compared to BMI of 24 or lower (p<0.001), and when BMI was 24 or higher in case the belly board was not used, the error occurrence risk of higher or equal to 2mm on the z-axis was 3.6 times higher (p<0.011). Radiation therapy for rectal cancer patients, using Belly Board for both the ones wearing fistula and with high BMI may be effective in decreasing the positioning errors.

  • Financial conglomerates combine banking, securities, insurance and other financial services within a single economic entity. In this paper we analyze the effect of financial conglomeration on the default risk of financial companies in the Korean financial industry. We use two risk measures based on individual company level as proxies of the default risk, one is Z-index proposed by Altman(1968) and the other is the weighted capital adequacy ratio. We find that financial conglomeration has a negative effect on the default risk of financial companies. The asset size and diversity level of financial conglomerates, however, are negatively correlated with the default risk of financial companies. These results mean that in the Korean financial industry, even though the economy of scale and scope does exist, financial conglomeration does not translate into lower risk of financial companies composing financial conglomerates.

  • We assessed fish fauna and habitat suitability indexes in the Geum river basin. Field monitoring was conducted for ecological and habitat condition assessment at 23 sites from October 2007 to March 2009. The habitat suitability indexes established for dominant fish species using the monitoring data were employed to assess riverine health conditions such as composition ratio of fish species, richness and dominance indexes, bio-diversity(dominance index, diversity, evenness and richness), and water depth, velocity and substrate size. Twenty-one species(42%) including Rhodeus uyekii and Pseudopungtungia nigra were found endemic out of the 50 species in 11 families sampled during this study period. The most frequently found one was Zacco platypus(34.3%) followed by Z. koreanus(10.2%) and Coreoleuciscus splendidus(8.4%). For Z. platypus, the dominant fish species in the basin, the favored habitat conditions were estimated to be 0.1~0.9 m for water depth, 0~0.9m/s for flow velocity and silt(<0.1mm)~cobbles(100.0~300.0mm) for substrate size, respectively. Overall, it was concluded that the Geum river basin has been relatively well protected from the anthropogenic disturbance for the legally protected species including the endemic species studied in this study.

  • In this study, the distribution of sedimentary environment and benthic macro-fauna in habitats and non-habitats of Zostera marina were investigated. The purpose of this study was to obtain basic data about the sedimentary environment and benthic macro-fauna in the habitats and non-habitats of Z. marina. Sand was dominant within habitat environments, whereas the non-habitats were predominantly composed of silt. As a result, the habitats of Z. marina have a different grain size and organic matter content compared to the non-habitats. These differences in the sedimentary environment were expected to influence the species composition of benthic animals. Benthic communities in the habitats of Z. marina showed a higher density and a greater number of species than in the non-habitats. As a result of an ecological index evaluation, the species diversity index (H') was $3.44{\pm}0.10$ for the habitat; the non-habitat was analyzed as $2.34{\pm}0.35$. It was also found that the stability of community in the habitats was higher than that in the non-habitats. The cluster analysis also clearly showed that habitats and non-habitats of Z. marina have distinct characteristics.

  • Six sigma is the rating that signifies "best in clas", with only 3.4 defects per million units or operations. Higher sigma quality level is generally perceived by customers as improved performance by assigning a correspondingly higher satisfaction score. The process capability indices and the sigma level $Z_{st}$ have been widely used in six sigma industries to assess process performance. Most evaluations on process capability indices focus on point estimates, which may result in unreliable assessments of process performance. In this paper, we consider statistical inference for process capability indices $C_p$, $C_{pk}$ and $C_{pm}$. Also, we study better testing procedure on assessing sigma level $Z_{st}$ and capability index $C_{pm}$, for practitioners to use in determining whether a given process is capable. The proposed method is easy to use and the decision making is more reliable. Whether a process is clearly normal or nonnormal, our bootstrap testing procedure could be applied effectively without the complexity of calculation. A numerical result based on our proposed method is illustrated.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether the Sinseo Innovation City of Daegu has been eco-friendly developed by analyzing changes in NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and LST (Land Surface Temperature) and conducting field surveys. Using Landsat satellite images, it compares NDVI and LST changes between the years of 2008 and 2018. The results of the study are as follows. First, the NDVI has decreased by 0.07 and the zLST has increased by $0.85^{\circ}C$ over the past 10 years. Second, districts with lower NDVI and higher zLST were concentrated with infrastructure with impermeable materials. Districts with higher NDVI and lower zLST were utilized urban design techniques such as permeable parking lot, green roof, and permeable pavement. Third, districts with higher NDVI and lower zLST were applied eco-friendly planning items properly by district unit plan guideline. It is meaningful to suggest planing directions and urban planning elements considering the environmental friendly development.

  • The purpose of this study was to show the method of three-dimensional morphometry developed recently and to compare the accuracy of three-dimensional morphometry with those of PA cephalometry, The three-dimensional morphometry analysis program and device were developed. Steel balls (1.2mm in diameter) were attached in twenty five landmarks of artificial human skull. This artificial human skull was used as experimental materials. From three-dimensional morphometry and PA cephalometry of artificial human skull. eleven linear measurements were acquired and made into asymmetry index. Right-left differences of measurements were used as asymmetry index. These measurements and asymmetry index were compared respectively with those of actual. The results were as follows: 1. Mean difference between three-dimensional morphometry and actual artificial human skull in linear measurements was $1.99{\pm}0.37mm$, and mean difference between PA cephalometry and actual was $21.12{\pm}0.45mm$. Both of all were reduced more than those of actual. 2. Mean difference between three-dimensional morphometry and actual artificial human skull in asymmetry index was $0.07{\pm}0.42$, and mean difference between PA cephalometry and actual was $3.63{\pm}0.60$. Three-dimensional morphometry was reduced while PA cephalometry was magnified more than that of actual. 3. Each eleven asymmetry index of three-dimensional morphometry was the same negative sign as those of actuals while only N-Z, ANS-J, Tr-Go, Tr-ANS asymmetry index were the same in PA cephalometry. These results suggest that the method of three-dimensional morphometry is more accurate than those of PA cephalometry in asymmetry analysis.

  • Using $SiCl_{2}H_{2}$, $NH_{3}$ and $N_{2}O$, we have fabricated silicon oxynitride ($Si_{x}O_{y}N_{z}$) layers on thermally oxidized silicon wafer by low pressure chemical vapor deposition. Three different compositions were achieved by controlling gas flow ratios($NH_{3}/N_{2}O$)) to 0.2, 0.5 and 2 with fixed gas flow of $SiCl_{2}H_{2}$. Ellipsometry and high frequency capacitance-voltage(HFCV) measurements were adapted to investigate the difference of the refractive index, dielectric constant, and composition, respectively. Regardless of nitride content, silicon oxynitrides had similar stability to silicon nitrides. The relative standing of alkali ion sensitivity in silicon oxynitride layers was influenced by nitride content. The better alkali ion-sensitivity was achieved by increasing oxide content in bulk of silicon oxynitrides.
