It is a qualitative study based on a focus group with an aim to figure out elderly people's experiences in health inequality in vulnerable health zones in agriculture and fisheries areas. Of eups, myeons and dongs selected as 40 vulnerable areas where standardized death rates had continued to be high from 2004 to 2007 in 20 counties and cities in Gyeongsang-do, 15 agriculture and fisheries areas were randomly chosen to extract 8 to 10 elderly people. Explanations were given to study subjects, and 7 to 8 people who agreed to take part in the study joined a regional focus group. Contents of interviews were analyzed with a phenomenological method by Colaizzi (1978) in order to accurately describe pertinent phenomena. The study has found four categories including ecological environmental problems, insufficient services for local community & harmful environmental problems, worsening economic conditions and insufficient health care management in terms of health behavior.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between socio-economic position(SEP), environmental exposures, and health of older people in Korea. This study used the data from 'Environmental Exposures and Their Health Effect in Korean Elderly Population'. The sample includes a total of 563 elderly people who were 60 years of age or older. Data on SEP, environmental exposure, and health impact were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multivariate regressions. As a result, study participants' SEP including age, family type, monthly expenditure, type of house, and region was significantly associated with environmental exposure. Also, while adjusting for SEP, environmental exposure such as allowing indoor smoking was associated with self-rated health and depression of study participants. The study findings showed inequality in environmental exposure and health outcomes by SEP in Korean elderly. Environmental exposure was associated with health outcome even after adjusting SEP, and this implied that environmental exposure could be a critical factor in explaining heath inequality by SEP. Further studies are necessary to better understand the causal relationships among SEP, environmental exposure, and health outcomes.
The Critical Consciousness Scale (CCS) is a scale developed by Diemer and colleagues (2017) that can measure the capacity of the oppressed or marginalized people to critically analyze their social and political conditions, support societal equality, and take action to change the perceived inequities. In this study, we validated the CCS for Korea by adapting and localizing the scale and validating it among university students. Content validity was verified by having five individuals with master's and doctoral degrees in psychology evaluate the suitability of the translated items. Afterwards, reliability and validity were verified through a survey of 314 university students nationwide using the CCS, along with the opportunity inequality recognition scale, recognition of the need for environmental change scale, social participation scale, and belief in a just world scale. To verify the scale's validity, exploratory factor analysis was conducted, confirming three subfactors. Then, a confirmatory factor analysis was carried out, where 14 items out of the original 22 were retained. The construct validity and reliability of these 14 items were found to be satisfactory. Additionally, in the correlation analysis between the CCS and similar scales, a significant clear relationship was found. The CCS showed a positive correlation with scales such as opportunity inequality recognition, need for environmental change recognition, and social participation, and a negative correlation with the belief in a just world scale. Based on these results, the CCS can be considered valid and reliable. Finally, the limitations and significance of this study were discussed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare Fast foods and Soft drinks consumption of Korean adolescents in a large city, a medium city, and a rural area. Methods: This was a descriptive comparative survey using a convenience sample of 2,261 8th and 11th grade students. The data were analyzed by X2-test and ANOVA using SPSS 10.0 statistical program. Results: For fast food consumptions, the higher in a large city than in a medium city and a rural area(p=.000). For soft drinks in a school, cafeteria or vending machines was higher in a large city and a medium city then in a rural area(p=.000). For eating snacks including cookies and popcorns was higher among students in a rural area than those in a medium city and large city(p=.008). Conclusions: 1. Overall, the health information among rural students is lower than those among other areas, as well as taking a health education course among rural students is also lower. Thus, the health inequality by regional differences should be considered. To decrease health inequality among different regions, health professionals who can systematically teach a health education course for middle and high school students and undertake students' health are needed. 2. Soft drinks sold in schools are higher in a large city and medium city than in a rural area. Therefore, there is a need of strong regulations and policies about the restriction of soft drinks sold in vending machines or school cafeterias.

When execute runoff forecasting, can not remove perfectly uncertainty of forecasting results. But, reduce uncertainty by various techniques analysis. This study applied various forecasting techniques for runoff prediction's accuracy elevation in Gongju basin. statics techniques is ESP, Period Average & Moving average, Exponential Smoothing, Winters, Auto regressive moving average process. Authoritativeness estimation with results of runoff forecasting by each techniques used MAE (Mean Absolute Error), RMSE (Root Mean Squared Error), RRMSE (Relative Root Mean Squared Error), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), TIC (Theil Inequality Coefficient). Result that use MAE, RMSE, RRMSE, MAPE, TIC and confirm improvement effect of runoff forecasting, ESP techniques than the others displayed the best result.

Digital divide comes to appear as a new factor of causing social inequality with the entry of information society. Especially, the digital divide in student class makes a worry about education inequality as the education using ICT, e-learning, and u-learning are enlarged. So, the concern about the status of digital divide in school is increasing. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey of students and teachers in elementary and secondary schools located in Gyeongnam, and measured informatization level with the weighted average of three subindices : accessing index, capability index, and utilization index. According to the survey, the index on information processing capability showed the largest gap in both the student group and the teacher group. We also had the result of positive correlation between the capability index and the utilization index. These results show that the gap of information processing capability is an important factor for understanding the digital divide.
Objectives : This study describes trends in the socioeconomic disparities in breast cancer screening among US women aged 40 or over, from 2000 to 2005. We assessed 1) the disparities in each socioeconomic dimension; 2) the changes in screening mammography rates over time according to income, education, and race; and 3) the sizes and trends of the disparities over time. Methods : Using data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) from 2000 to 2005, we calculated the age-adjusted screening rate according to relative household income, education level, health insurance, and race. Odds ratios and the relative inequality index (RII) were also calculated, controlling for age. Results : Women in their 40s and those with lower relative incomes were less likely to undergo screening mammography. The disparity based on relative income was greater than that based on education or race (the RII among low-income women across the survey years was 3.00 to 3.48). The overall participation rate and absolute differences among socioeconomic groups changed little or decreased slightly across the survey years. However, the degree of each socioeconomic disparity and the relative inequality among socioeconomic positions remained quite consistent. Conclusions : These findings suggest that the trend of the disparity in breast cancer screening varied by socioeconomic dimension. Continued differences in breast cancer screening rates related to income level should be considered in future efforts to decrease the disparities in breast cancer among socioeconomic groups. More focused interventions, as well as the monitoring of trends in cancer screening participation by income and education, are needed in different social settings.

In this study, we consider a dynamic positioning system (DPS) design problem that can be extended to many application fields. Toward this end, tracking and positioning control problems are discussed. In particular, we design a tracking control system that incorporates an observer based on the 2-DOF servo system design approach in order to obtain the desired state information. In the case of observer design, a weighted $H_{\infty}$ error bound approach for a state estimator is considered. Based on an algebraic Riccati equation (inequality) approach, a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a full-order estimator that satisfies the weighted $H_{\infty}$ error bound is introduced. The condition for the existence of the estimator is denoted by a linear matrix inequality (LMI) that yields an optimized solution and the observer gain.

In this paper, an observer-based decentralized fuzzy controller is designed for discrete-time interconnected fuzzy systems. Based on the fuzzy subsystem of the interconnected fuzzy system, the observer-based decentralized fuzzy controller is considered. By using the fuzzy subsystem and the observer-based decentralized fuzzy controller, the closed-loop system is obtained. From the closed-loop system, the stability condition with the maximum interconnection bound is developed, and its sufficient condition is represented as the linear matrix inequality (LMI). Finally, the numerical example is provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
In this paper, the stability and stabilization problems for marine vessels including surface and underwater vehicles are described. In the marine vessels, there are many and strong nonlinear parameters. These give hard design process and difficulties to us. In this article, at first we make a descriptor system representation as a controlled system to preserve the physical parameters of the system as it is. And we propose a new stability and stabilizability conditions based on the quadratic stabilization approach which gives a solution for the unreasonable problems produced by added mass. That is, the proposed conditions are not interfered with the nonsymmetric matrix constraint. And the stability condition is given by an matrix inequality such that it makes us to obtain a solution easily for something.
