The prediction of heat-up time of an LCD glass plate in LCD glass pre-treatment process has been implemented in the present study. Firstly, the analytical solution for one-dimensional radiation heat transfer from IR heaters to a LCD glass plate is obtained. When the surface temperature of the IR heaters is set at 473 K, the heat-up time of LCD glass to averaged temperature of 383K is 28 seconds. In addition, a three dimensional full CFD analysis using STAR-CD is implemented in an effort to consider the effect of 3-D heat loss through the furnace walls. From the results of the 3-D CFB analysis, the heat-up time increases up to 32.5 seconds under the same conditions. When the IR heater temperature in creases up to 573 K, the heat-up time decreases to 12 seconds for the one-dimensional analytical solution and to 13.5 seconds for the 3-D CFD analysis, respectively.
The HII region S140 and the associated molecular cloud L1204 have been observed with 10 molecular transitions, CO (1-0), $^{13}CO$ (1-0), $C^{18}O$ (1-0), CS (2-1), $HCO^+$ (1-0), HCN (1-0), SO (${2_2}-{1_1}$), $SO_2(2_{20}-3_{13})$, OCS (8-7), and $HNCO\;(4_{04}-3_{03})$ with ${\sim}50"$ angular resolutions. More than 7,000 spectra were obtained in total. The morphology of this region shows a massive fragment (the S140 core) and the extended envelope to the northeast. Several gas condensations have been identified in the envelope, having masses of ${\sim}10^{3}M_{\odot}$ and gas number densities of ${\lesssim}10^{4}cm^{-3}$ to $3{\times}10^{5}cm^{-3}$ in their cores. The column densities of the observed molecular species toward the S140 core appear to be the typical warm clouds' abundances. It seems to be that the S140 core and L1204 have been swept up by an expanding shell called the Cepheus bubble. The large value of $L_{IR}$(embedded\;stars)/$M_{cloud}\;{\sim}\;5\;L_{\odot}$/$M_{\odot}$ of the S140 core may suggest that the star formation has been stimulated by the HII region, but the shock velocity and the pressure of the region seem to give a hint of the spontaneous star formation by the self gravity.

Massive stars, supernovae, and kilonovae are among the most luminous radiation sources in the universe. Observations usually show near- to mid-infrared (NIR-MIR, 1-5~micron) emission excess from H II regions around young massive star clusters (YMSCs) and anomalous dust extinction and polarization towards Type Ia supernova (SNe Ia). The popular explanation for such NIR-MIR excess and unusual dust properties is the predominance of small grains (size a<0.05micron) relative to large grains (a>0.1micron) in the local environment of these strong radiation sources. The question of why small grains are predominant in these environments remains a mystery. Here we report a new mechanism of dust destruction based on centrifugal stress within extremely fast rotating grains spun-up by radiative torques, namely the RAdiative Torque Disruption (RATD) mechanism, which can resolve this question. We find that RATD can destroy large grains located within a distance of ~ 1 pc from a massive star of luminosity L~ 10^4L_sun and a supernova. This increases the abundance of small grains relative to large grains and successfully reproduces the observed NIR-MIR excess and anomalous dust extinction/polarization. We show that small grains produced by RATD can also explain the steep far-UV rise in extinction curves toward starburst and high redshift galaxies, as well as the decrease of the escape fraction of Ly-alpha photons observed from HII regions surrounding YMSCs.

A technique for calculating the additive drag of the inlet in supersonic flow was studied using commercial CFD software, STAR-CCM+, which provides a efficient way of 3 dimensional flow analysis with polyhedron-shaped grid system. Three configurations were chosen and applied to the calculation with various flow conditions of two different free stream Mach No. and some mass flow ratios. Comparisons with results from wind tunnel test gave good agreements. Though computation were carried out with the inviscid and compressible flow around the supersonic inlet for the supercritical condition, ignoring the viscous effects is concluded to give little effects on the accuracy of the additive drag calculation and to make the calculation more efficient owing to less effort and time consumed for grid system build-up and for iteration because of less grid number and simpler boundary condition.

Poly(lactic acid) is expected to be one of the most promising biodegradable polymers. However, the high molecular weight polymer could be obtained by ring-opening polymerization process conventionally, which raises the production cost and decreases the final yield. In this study, linear and star-shaped poly(L-lactic acid)s were prepared by direct solution polycondensation method and their physical and thermal properties were examined. Tin compounds were found to be effective catalyst for the preparation of high molecular weight polymers. When 0.2g (0.5 wt % of monomer) of $SnCl_2$ and 100 mL of p-xylene were used, the polymer yield and molecular weight were relatively high. As a means to obtain higher molecular weight polymer easily in the direct polycondensation system, dipentaerythritol(dipet) or pentaerythritol(pet) was introduced as a multifunctional branching monomer to provide a star-shaped poly(lactic acid). Moderately high molecular weight polymers with the inherent viscosity values up to 1.14 dL/g(weight-average molecular weight of about 140000 by GPC) were obtained and could be cast strong and transparent films.

Keloids are pathologic fibroproliferative conditions characterized by excessive collagen deposition during wound healing. The pathogenesis of keloids is not fully understood, and current treatment options show variable results. In this case report, the patient developed a keloid after bilateral total thyroidectomy, and was treated with a combination approach using fractional ablative laser systems along with cryotherapy and triamcinolone injection. After seven monthly sessions of combination treatment, the patient presented marked improvement of the scar texture and symptoms. Furthermore, there was no recurrence for up to 2 years. We propose this combination as a safe and effective treatment option for keloid patients.

We present an analysis of the chemical abundances and kinematics of six low-mass dwarf stars, previously claimed to be candidate hypervelocity stars (HVSs). We obtained moderate-resolution (R ~ 6000) spectra of these stars to estimate the abundances of several chemical elements (Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Fe, and Ni), and derived their space velocities and orbital parameters using proper motions from the Gaia Data Release 2. All six stars are shown to be bound to the Milky Way, and in fact are not even considered high-velocity stars with respect to the Galactic rest frame. Nevertheless, we attempt to characterize their parent Galactic stellar components by simultaneously comparing their element abundance patterns and orbital parameters with those expected from various Galactic stellar components. We find that two of our program stars are typical disk stars. For four stars, even though their kinematic probabilistic membership assignment suggests membership in the Galactic disk, based on their distinct orbital properties and chemical characteristics, we cannot rule out exotic origins as follows. Two stars may be runaway stars from the Galactic disk. One star has possibly been accreted from a disrupted dwarf galaxy or dynamically heated from a birthplace in the Galactic bulge. The last object may be either a runaway disk star or has been dynamically heated. Spectroscopic follow-up observations with higher resolution for these curious objects will provide a better understanding of their origin.
We started a systematic observational study of the 22 GHz water and 44 GHz class I methanol masers in 87 high-mass young stellar objects (HM-YSOs) as a KaVA large program (LP). The primary goal is to understand dynamical evolution of HM-YSOs and their circumstellar structures by measuring spatial distributions and 3-dimensional velocity fields of multiple maser species. In the first-year observations (2016-2017), we made snap-shot imaging surveys of 25 water and 19 methanol maser sources. In the second-year observations (2018-2019), we have carried out monitoring observations of 19 water and 3 methanol maser sources that were selected on the basis of the first-year survey results. By combining follow-up observations with VERA (distances), JVN/EAVN (6.7 GHz methanol masers), and ALMA cycles 3 and 6 (thermal lines/continuum), we will provide novel information on physical properties (density, temperature, size, mass), 3D dynamical structures of disk/jet/outflow/infalling envelope, and relationship between evolutionary of HM-YSOs. In this presentation, we will report the current status and future plans of our KaVA large program.
