Shading Effect of Different Colored Polyethylene net on Seeding Growth of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer

  • This study was carried out to investigate spectral irradiance characteristics of blue, yellow, and blue-black colored polyethylene (PE) shading net and the effect on growth characteristics and yield in ginseng seedling. The spectral irradiance $({\mu}mol/m^2/s/nm)$ showed the peak at 498 nm in both of blue and blue-black PE shading net, and 606 nm under yellow PE one. The intensity of blue light in blue shading was more strong than that of blue-black shading, control. Blue shading was increased by 17% and 23% in accumulated quantum for daytime, $0.5^{\circ}C and $0.2^{\circ}C$ in maximum temperature on June 2 than that of yellow and blue-black shading, respectively, but heat injury ratio of the former was lower than that of the latter. Chlorophyll content and stem length in blue shading were decreased more significantly than those of yellow and blue-black shading. The specific leaf weight was higher under blue and yellow shading than that of blue-black shading. Ginseng seedling harvested in blue shading was increased by $13{\sim}17%$ in the number of root, and $17{\sim}20%$ in root weight per $m^ 2 compared to yellow and blue-black shading owing to the increase of survived plant, and the decrease of specific leaf weight, heat injury ratio, and stem length.

랫드 및 토끼에 대한 치자 황색색소에 관한 단회 투여 경구 독성 시험 (Single-Dose Oral Toxicity of the Gardenia Yellow Pigment in Rate and Rabbits)

  • 치자에서 분리한 황색색소에 대한 랫드 및 토끼에 있어서의 단회투여 경구 독성시험을 수행하였다. 황색색소는 랫드의 경우 5,000, 2,500, 1,250, 625, 312,5 및 1mg/kg의 용량으로 경구로, 토끼에는 5,000, 2,500 및 1,250mg/kg의 용량으로 경구로 암.수 각각에 1회 투여한 후 14일 동안 관찰하였다. 시험결과에 있어 랫드 및 토끼의 모든 황색색소 투여군에서 사망예, 임상증상, 체중변화, 육안적 소견 및 병리조직학적 소견에서 특기할만한 이상은 관찰되지 않았으며 랫드와 토끼에서 황색색소의 LD50치를 산출할 수 없었다. 따라서 LD50치는 랫드 암.수 모두에서 체중 kg당 5,000mg 이상인 것으로 판단되었다. 이상의 결과로부터 치자로부터 분리한 황색색소는 랫드 및 토끼에서 단회 투여 경구 독성시험에서 어떠한 독성 및 부작용을 유발하지 않는 안전한 제제로 사료된다.

  • 옐로카펫 보급된 이후 어린이 교통사고는 감소세이나 아직 옐로카펫 설치와 교통사고간의 인과관계에 대한 설명력은 부족한 상황이다. 기존의 실차조사연구에서 상황 구현의 어려움이나 위험성 등의 이유로 수행하지 못한 다양한 상황을 VR시뮬레이션 실험을 활용하여 옐로카펫 효과를 더욱 심도있게 분석하였다. 실제 옐로카펫이 설치되어있는 대상지를 선정하고, 가상환경으로 구현한 후 시선측정장비를 착용하고 시뮬레이터에 탑승하도록 하였다. 옐로카펫 설치 전·후의 시각/주행행태를 비교하였고, 통계적 검증을 위해 t-test 분석을 수행, 모두 통계적으로 유의한 수준인 것으로 나타났다.

녹즙추출물의 아질산염 소거능에 대한 연구 (Nitrite Scavenging Effect of Methaol Fraction Obtained from Green Yellow Vegetable Juices)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate biological activities such as nitrite scavenging effect of water and methanol fractions obtained from each green juice(Angelica keiskei, kale, carrot) under different pH conditions, and antioxidant vitamin contents in green juice made of green yellow vegetables. The result shows that nitrite scavenging effect of each green juice was 14.0~91.2% in model system. The methanol fraction provided higher effect than the water fraction. The nitrite degradation was the highest at pH 1.2. Nitrite scavenging effect of methanol fraction obtained from kale juice was 91.2% at pH 1.2 which was the highest among tested samples in this experiments. Consequently, extracts of kale juice were shown to provide the greatest functional properties among the vegetables tested. Contents of vitamine E and C in the extracts of kale were higher than the others.

Numerical simulation of Hydrodynamics and water properties in the Yellow Sea. I. Climatological inter-annual variability

  • The Yellow Sea is characterized by relatively shallow water depth, varying range of tidal action and very complex coastal geometry such as islands, bays, peninsulas, tidal flats, shoals etc. The dynamic system is controlled by tides, regional winds, river discharge, and interaction with the Kuroshio. The circulation, water mass properties and their variability in the Yellow Sea are very complicated and still far from clear understanding. In this study, an effort to improve our understanding the dynamic feature of the Yellow Sea system was conducted using numerical simulation with the ROMS model, applying climatologic forcing such as winds, heat flux and fresh water precipitation. The inter-annual variability of general circulation and thermohaline structure throughout the year has been obtained, which has been compared with observational data sets. The simulated horizontal distribution and vertical cross-sectional structures of temperature and salinity show a good agreement with the observational data indicating significantly the water masses such as Yellow Sea Warm Water, Yellow Sea Bottom Cold Water, Changjiang River Diluted Water and other sporadically observed coastal waters around the Yellow Sea. The tidal effects on circulation and dynamic features such as coastal tidal fronts and coastal mixing are predominant in the Yellow Sea. Hence the tidal effects on those dynamic features are dealt in the accompanying paper (Kim et at., 2004). The ROMS model adopts curvilinear grid with horizontal resolution of 35 km and 20 vertical grid spacing confirming to relatively realistic bottom topography. The model was initialized with the LEVITUS climatologic data and forced by the monthly mean air-sea fluxes of momentum, heat and fresh water derived from COADS. On the open boundaries, climatological temperature and salinity are nudged every 20 days for data assimilation to stabilize the modeling implementation. This study demonstrates a Yellow Sea version of Atlantic Basin experiment conducted by Haidvogel et al. (2000) experiment that the ROMS simulates the dynamic variability of temperature, salinity, and velocity fields in the ocean. However the present study has been improved to deal with the large river system, open boundary nudging process and further with combination of the tidal forcing that is a significant feature in the Yellow Sea.

홍화와 황벽의 혼합염색 견직물의 광퇴색 (Light Fastness of Silk Fabric dyed with Safflower and Amur Cork Tree extract for Combination dyeing)

  • In order to study on the color change of silk dyed with natural colorant due to light fading, and find out the effect of combination dyeing, colorant extracts of safflower red, safflower yellow and amur cork tree were used, either singly or in combination. In combination dyeing, safflower yellow or amur cork tree dyeing process was added on the top of the silk fabric was dyed with safflower red. Color change and light fastness were investigated by $L^*,\; a^*,\; b^*$ H, V/C, and Color difference. Brightness of silk fabric dyed with safflower red and safflower yellow increased gradually with increasing the radiation time of UV light, but amur cork tree was decreased and turned to dull. Color difference of dyed with Amur cork tree showed higher than the others. Combination dyeing of safflower red and amur cork tree provided better light fastness than the one of safflower red and safflower yellow.

황토의 식이 내 첨가에 의한 돼지의 생리적 특성과 등급판정에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Dietary Supplementation of Yellow Loess on Physiological Performance and Carcass Grade in Pigs)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 황토의 식이 첨가에 의한 돼지의 성장 특성과 혈중 조성물의 변화를 규명하는 것이다. 총 153마리의 돼지(1주령 자돈 60마리 및 성돈 93마리)를 공시하였다. 자돈군은 일반사료 식이군, 0.5% 황토 + 일반사료 식이군, 1% 황토 + 일반사료 식이군으로 무작위로 3군으로 재배치하였다. 각 군간 증체량을 비교하였을 때 1% 황토가 포함된 사료를 식이한 군에서 일반사료와 0.5% 황토 + 일반사료 투여군에 비해 체중 증가가 관찰되었으나 통계적으로 유의하지는 않았다. 혈액학적 분석을 실시한 결과, 총 백혈구 수, 총 적혈구 수, 헤모글로빈 수, 혈액 중 혈구용적율, 평균 세포용적율, 평균 세포 내 헤모글로빈량, 평균 세포 내 헤모글로빈 농도, 평균 적혈구 폭, 혈소판 수치 등에서 각 군간의 유의한 차이가 없음을 확인하였다. 성돈군은 일반사료 식이군과 1% 황토 + 일반사료 식이군으로 구분하였으며, 혈청학적 분석에서 혈청 알부민의 농도는 1% 황토 + 일반사료 투여군에서 다른 군에 비하여 유의하게 증가하여 있는 것을 확인하였으나(p<0.01), 다른 지표들에서는 유의한 차이를 발견할 수 없었다. 황토가 포함된 사료를 투여한 군에서 획득한 분변의 조지방 함량은 다른 군에 비하여 유의하게 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며(p<0.001), 조단백 함량 및 조회분 함량은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 도체의 무게와 등지방 두께의 측정 결과 각 군간의 유의한 차이는 발견할 수 없었으나, 도체의 등급 판정 결과 황토를 투여한 군의 도체 등급은 비투여군에 비해 유의하게 등급이 향상된 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 황토의 식이 첨가는 돼지의 영양소 흡수를 개선시킴으로서 도체의 등급을 향상시키는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The changes of amine, nitrate and nitrite nitrogen in yellow corvenia were studied during its processing and storage in order to clarify the precursors of N-nitrosamine(NA) formation in the salted and dried yellow corvenia(Gulbi), prepared y using the different salting method like dry and brine salting by pure and curde salt. As a result, during the processing and storage of Gulbi, DMA and TMA contents were significantly increased in the yellow corvenia. And after 40 days storage the increase rate showed 25.7∼45.7, 3.3∼5.6 times higher than those of 0.3, 2.4mg/kg, respectively, while nitrite contents, during its processing and storage, were scarcely changed in the salted and dried yellow corvenia. During the processing and storage, of Gulbi, DMA and TMA contents were less produced in brine salted and dried yellow corvenia using crude salt than in sample prepared using were scarcely changed in the salted and dried yellow corvenia. During the processing and storage of Gulbi, DMA and TMA contents were less produced in brine salted and dried yellow corvenia using crude salt than in sample prepared using pure salt, while the former were more effective than the latter in inhibiting the production of nitrate and nitrite. Therefore, it was revealed that reduction of NA precursors such as DMA, TMA, nitrate and nitrite were more effective in preparing with the brine salting method than with the dry salting method.

Bulb Storability of Red and Yellow Onion (Allium cepa L.) Cultivars Grown in Korea

  • The bulb storability of eight red and ten yellow onion (Allium cepa L.) cultivars grown primarily in Korea was evaluated. During storage, sprouting occurred earlier in red cultivars than in yellow cultivars. In addition, the ratio of sprouted to unsprouted bulbs increased more rapidly in red cultivars than in yellow cultivars. However, not all yellow cultivars had strong storabilities. Bulb storability of three yellow cultivars was as poor as that of red cultivars, suggesting only a slight possibility of a pleiotropic effect of color and bulb storability. Meanwhile, $F_3$ lines of a red cultivar selected based on stronger storabilities showed intermediate storabilities between those of the red and yellow cultivars, implying that strong storability could be obtained by successive selection. In contrast, $F_1$ hybrids from crosses between yellow and red breeding lines showed poor storability compared with the yellow cultivars, indicating that poor storability may be dominant over strong storability. The relationships between color and other traits that potentially affect storability, such as fresh and dry weight, water content, and firmness of bulbs, were evaluated. No significant differences in these traits were observed between the two colors, although the water content of yellow cultivars and the dry weight of red cultivars were slightly higher than their counterparts. Correlation analyses between bulb storability and other traits, including weight, water content, and firmness, also showed no significant correlations. In this study, no correlations were identified between bulb color, storability, and other traits. However, based on these results, red cultivars with stronger storabilities could be developed through successive selection of bulbs with stronger storabilities.

한우 및 연변 황우의 임신기간과 생시체중에 영향을 미치는 환경요인의 효과 (Effects of Environmental Factors on Gestation Length and Birth Weight in Korean Native and Yanbian Yellow Cows)

  • 본 연구는 강원도 평창군에 위치한 축산기술연구소 대관령 지소에서 사육된 한우 587두와 중국 연변지역 일반농가에서 사육된 연변황우 619두, 총 1,206두의 자료를 이용하여 모우산차, 송아지의 성별, 출생 년도 및 출생계절 등의 환경요인의 효과를 추정하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 한우와 연변황우의 임신기간의 최소자승평균치는 각각 287.3$\pm$0.60 및 282.3$\pm$0.80 일이었으며, 생시체중은 각각 24.9$\pm$0.25 및 25.2$\pm$0.24kg이었다. 2. 한우에서 임신기간과 생시체중은 산차가 증가할수록 유의적으로 증가하였으나 (p<0.01) 연변황우는 유의성이 없었다. 3. 한우와 연변황우 모두 숫송아지 생시체중이 암송아지보다 더 무거웠고 (p<0.01) 한우는 숫송아지 임신소의 임신기간이 암송아지 임신소의 임신기간보다 더 걸었으나 (p<0.01)황우는 유의성이 없었다. 4. 생시체중에 대한 출생 년도의 효과는 한우와 연변황우에서 유의성이 있었으나 (p<0.01) 임신기간에 대한 출생 년도의 효과는 유의성이 없었다. 5. 한우와 연변황우 모두 봄에 출생한 송아지가 제일 무거웠고 가을에 출생한 송아지가 제일 작았다 (p<0.01).
