The Study on the constitutional composition of the formative factor for cognition and thought process in the cognition of man in the Yin Yang twenty-five type man of the Young Chu makes up the deficiency of economic-social factor begining with the influence of environment. The constitutional composition of the formative factor for cognition and thought process in the cognition of man the Yin Yang twenty-five type man of the Young Chu are interpretated the Yin type man -preponderance characteristic. The Chinese social delineation in the Yin Yang twenty-five type man of the Young possess the characteristic of the Yin type man - preponderance.

Gageum annotated the text of Sanghannon - Rigor with fever comes from yang and rigor without fever comes from yin. - that 'comes from yang' was the state already shown the fever and 'comes from yin' was the state not yet shown the fever, so he told that yang disease without fever belonged in 'comes from yin' and yin disease with fever belonged in 'comes from yang'. And he annotated the text - If one purges the disease comes from yang, the fever goes into the inside and it becomes Gyeolhyung. And if one purges the disease comes from yin, it becomes Bijjeung. - that yin meant the inside and yang meant the outside. That is to say, he distinguished two texts independently. And he presented the pathological reason that cold medicines such as sorts of Sasim-tang were used to cure Bijjeung.
The symptoms that have same pathologic pattern written in the chapter of Soyangin's general pathology of the book 'Dongyi Soose Bowon' can give us a key to the Dr.Lee Je-Ma's point of view about the constitutional pathophysiology. As the result, Dr. Lee called the person who has yang-hyperactivity/yin-hypoactivity as So-Yang-In. And the Soyangin has two basic pathologic pathway ; excess of Yang-hyperactivity/excess of Yin-hypoactivity. Each pathologic pathway has variatons though, the pathologic pattern results in above two type. Excess Yin-hypoactivity has three variations of pathologic pattern. 1. smaller excess of Yin-hypoactivity with the normal range of Yang-hyperactivity 2. larger excess Yin-hypoactivity with the excitation of Yang-hyperactivity by the extrinsic factor 3. smaller excess Yin-hypoactivity with the loss of Yang-hyperactivity. And excess Yang-hyperactivity also has three variations. In my point of view, CVA, Hematemesis, Vommiting, Abdominal Pain, Gastric Dyscomfort has No.3 type and Asthmatic condition, Dysentery, Edema has No.1 type.
Objectives : In order to study experimentally the effects of Woogwi-eum(Yougui-yin) on hypothyroidism, ${T_3}-uptake$ content, $T_3$ content, $T_4$ content, TSH content, hematological values, enzyme activity, total cholesterol content, $Na^{+}$ content change in the serum and body weight of rats induced by thiouracil were measured after medication of extract of Woogwi-eum (Yougui-yin). Methods : Sparque-Dawley rats were used in this experiment and the rats were divided into normal, control and experimental groups. The hypothyroidism of control and experimental groups was induced by thiouracil, Woogwi-eum(Yougui-yin) extract was orally administered in the experimental groups for 20 days Results : In this experiment, the Woogwi-eum(Yougui-yin) treated group showed a significant increase in the serum ${T_3}-uptake$, TSH, RBC and hematocrit content, whereas a significant decrease in the serum CPK, ALP, LDH, total cholesterol content and the body weight was measured. Conclusions : According to the above results, it is suggested that Woogwi-eum(Yougui-yin) is partially effective to the hypothyroidism induced by thiouracil in rats. Therefore, Woogwi- eum(Yougui-yin) seems to be applicable to hypothyroidism in clinical practice.
Objectives : The aim of this study is to find a desirable way for acupuncture treatment of Vascular Dementia. Methods : The author reviewed several literatures related with Vascular Dementia. Based on the literatures, the author interpreted the causes and symptoms of Vascular Dementia on viewpoint of three yin and three yang. In addition, research about desirable way for acupuncture treatment was carried out. Results and Conclusions : The cause of Vascular Dementia is thought to be the functional weakness of lesser yin, the heart meridian. Also, the related-factors represent functional excess of reverting yin and greater yin, as well show functional weakness of lesser yin. Accordingly, for the acupuncture treatment of Vascular Dementia, it is necessary to tonify lesser yin. On the other hand, the activation of lesser yang is thought to be helpful.
Objectives The objective of this study is to investigate the protective effects of Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) on the articular cartilage injuries in rat model of osteoarthritis. Methods Articular cartilage injury was induced by injection of monosodium iodoacetate (MIA) (0.25 mg) into both knee joint cavities of rats. Rats were divided into control group (n=8) and Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) group (n=8), which was taken extracts of Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) by orally for 20 days. At the end of the experiment (20 days after MIA injection), gross and histopathological examinations on the articular structures of knee joints were performed. Proteoglycan (PG) content in articular cartilages was analyzed by safranin O staining method. And also, tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$) and interleukin-$1{\beta}$ (IL-$1{\beta}$) contents in synovial fluid were measured by ELISA method. Results 1. Grossly, the degree of articular cartilage injury in the Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) group was alleviated compared with the control group. 2. PG content in articular cartilage of the Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) group was increased significantly compared with the control group. 3. Histopathologically, osteoarthritic score of the Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) group was decreased significantly compared with the control group. 4. TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-$1{\beta}$ content in synovial fluid of the Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) group was increased compared with the control group. But there was no significance. Conclusions On the basis of these results, we suggest that Banggi-eum (FangchiYin) have inhibiting effects on the progression of articular cartilage injury in MIA-induced osteoarthritis model.

The study was performed to determine the reliability and validity of the 'Qi Blood Yin Yang Deficiency Questionnaire (Qi Blood Yin Yang DQ)' for the 100 subjects with chronic fatigue. After 100 subjects respond to the 'Qi Blood Yin Yang DQ', Korean medical doctor classified the subjects into 4 groups such as Qi deficiency group, Blood deficiency group, Yin deficiency group and Yang deficiency group. 100 subjects were retested in the same way after 3 weeks. The reliability and the validity of the questionnaire were inspected. Internal consistency of the 'Qi Blood Yin Yang DQ' was excellent (Cronbach alpha 0.916). Test-retest reliability was good (intra-class correlation coefficient 0.699). Construct validity analyzed by exploratory factor analysis produced 4 factors, which were selected from eigenvalues that are greater than 1.0. The 'Qi Blood Yin Yang DQ' consisted of 4 factors. The factor 1, 2, 3 and 4 showed 'Qi deficiency', 'Yin deficiency', 'Yang deficiency' and 'Blood deficiency' respectively. The 'Qi Blood Yin Yang DQ' restructured in this study may provide a fundamental questionnaire and a further study is required for a more advanced, standardized and statistically proven questionnaire.
Objectives : An accurate judgment of prognosis when treating diseases is crucial. While the 『Shanghanlun(傷寒論)』 deals with the prognosis of the Three Yin Diseases with great importance, full-scale studies have been lacking. This paper aims to study the Three Yin Diseases with a focus on prognosis analysis. Methods : Among the Three Yin Disease verses, those that could provide clues to prognosis were selected and analysed. Conclusions & Results : When Yang pulse patterns such as long(長脈)·floating(浮脈)·rapid(數脈) pulses and Yang symptoms such as fever, vexing heat, mild perspiration, thirst, warmth in hands and feet are present in Yin disease, it could be taken as signs of Yang Qi restoration. In these situations, Yin Cold pattern such as diarrhea and reversal cold disappear and the prognosis is positive. However, despite Yang pulse patterns and symptoms, there are cases where diarrhea happens as a result of cold dampness being eliminated due to Yang Qi restoration. Also, when Yang Qi starts communicating smoothly after its restoration in the Three Yin Diseases, perspiration can happen. When diarrhea and reversal cold, which are patterns of Yin Cold get worse, with pulse patterns such as unfelt(脈不至)·replete(實脈)·fulminating(脈暴出) pulses, false heat symptoms such as fever and hot flashes happen, accompanied with Yang Qi depleted symptoms such as inability to lie down due to agitation, continuous perspiration, sore throat, dyspnea, and exaggerated breathing happen. When fast pulse, fever, and perspiration are present due to depression and stagnation of ministerial fire, symptoms such as bloody stool with pus, purulent abscess, sore throat, and inability to lie down due to agitation show, which signal negative prognosis. In bad cases of Reverting Yin Disease, there is continuous diarrhea and bloody stool with pus, which can be due to either Kidney Yang deficiency or depression and stagnation of ministerial fire. It could also be caused by excessive heat.
Objectives : This study aimed to suggest distinct signs of Greater yin disease (tàiyīnbìng, 太陰病) by researching the etymology of three terms: zi-tong (自痛), jie-ying (結硬), and yin-er (因爾), which are exclusive found only in Greater yin disease (太陰病) in Gangpyeong-shanghanlun, but not in other categories. Methods : We studied the etymologies of the three terms that are unique in Greater yin disease, then found some pathological signs that are related with them through the four mental illness cases, which include somatization, obsessive-compulsive behavior, delusion, and panic disorder. Results : Based on the definitions of each term, we diagnosed the four patients who had mental illnesses as having Greater yin disease, and we observed meaningful improvements after administering herbal medication. After Gyejigajakyak-tang administration, the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) score decreased from 18 to 7 and the Beck's Anxiety Index (BAI) score decreased from 36 to 18 in the first case, the ISI score decreased from 27 to 16 and the BAI score decreased from 50 to 33 in the second case, and the ISI score decreased from 23 to 4 and the BAI score decreased from 34 to 5 in the third case. In the last case, the ISI and BAI scores were 16 and 22, respectively, at the first visit, and it was found that the scores had changed to 6 and 22, respectively, at the last visit. Conclusions : We found that the unique terms in Greater yin disease, including zi-tong (自痛), jie-ying (結硬), and yin-er (因爾), can be interpreted as groundless arbitrary assumption, resting strong tension, and psychological projection based on the etymological hypothesis. Therefore, we suggest these as specific signs of Greater yin disease.
