용액분무법으로 MgO (100) 면에 제조한 $YBa_2Cu_3O_7-\chi$초전도 (Formation of $YBa_2Cu_3O_7-\chi$ Superconducting Film on (100) MgO Substrate by a Spray Pyrolysis Method)

  • 용액분무법으로 (100) MgO 단결정 기판위에 YBa2Cu3O7-x 초전도박막을 제조하 였다. YBa2Cu3O7-x 초전도 박막의 Y, Ba, Cu 원자의 상대적인 비는 EDX의 검출 한계내에 서 1 : 2 : 3이었고, 이는 분무 용액속의 금속이온의 비와 같았다. YBa2Cu3O7-x 초전도 박 막의 결정구조는 단일 상의 사방구조였으며, 기판에 수직인 c축의 방향으로 grain이 성장되 었고, 격자상수 c0는 11.678$\AA$였다. 95$0^{\circ}C$의 공기중에서 10분간 열처리한 박막의 Tc-on=100K, Tc-zero=80K, Jc=2.5 $\times$ 104A/cm2였고, 95$0^{\circ}C$의 흐르는 산소분위기에서 10분간 열처리한 박막의 Tc-on=103K, Tc-zero=80K, Jc=1.0 $\times$ 105A/cm2였다. 초전도 박막의 미세구 조, grain 크기와 grain 경계폭은 제조후 열처리(post-annealing) 시간과 가스 분위기에 강 한 영향을 받았다.

차단기 적용을 위한 초전도체의 합성 (Electric Properties of High-Tc Ceramic Superconductor for Breaker)

  • This aim of this study was to develop a process for creating bulk single-crystal YBaCuO superconductors in a high magnetic field. To support the bulk unidirectional growth of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$, $SmBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ seeds were planted inside YBaCuO composites and samples were produced by melting, enabling the growth of two YBaCuO superconductors. Due to the magnetism generated inside the superconductor of the upper sample, the magnetization inside the superconducting single crystals was evenly distributed, the sharpness of the induced magnetic force was improved, and the superconducting magnetization were significantly improved. This approach is widely applicable for the production of superconducting wires and current leads used for DC power breakers.

  • YBaCuO superconducting ceramic thick films were fabricated by chemical process. YBaCuO films have been successfully grown on $SrTiO_3$ substrates without a template layer. The films show poor or non superconductivity although they have excellent crystalline properties. ion channeling measurement made it clear that the strain in the films due to strong chemical bonding between the substrate and epilayer remains, resulting in the poor superconductivity. The X ray diffraction pattern of the YBaCuO thick films contained 90K phase. The self template method have resolved this problem. We obtained high-Jc as-grown YBaCuO on $SrTiO_3$ (100).

  • A new multi-seeding process for the growth of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$Oxx single crystals was developed. This process introduces an additional heating step to peritectic temperature and a subsequent slow cooling step to the growth temperature following the point when the crystals contacted. The crystal growth was resumed thereafter. The results obtained with this new process were compared with those of the conventional growth process, in which materials were only kept at the growth temperature. It was observed that the liquid phase between crystals were almost completely eliminated, but that Y2ll grains were grown during this new process. There was no significant improvement in trapped magnetic field over the conventional process, which is believed to be due to the cracks generated during the oxygen heat treatment or to the growth of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$Ox grains.

  • $^{63}Cu$ 핵사중극공명을 이용하여 자기적으로 정렬된 $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$ 고온초전도체 시료의 비등방성을 조사하였다. 정렬된 시료에서는 RF 자기장이 c-축에 수직으로 가해질 때만 공명신호가 검출되었다. 자기적으로 정렬된 시료와 정렬되지 않은 시료로부터 측정된 공명차이로부터 $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$의 자기적 비등방성을 관측할 수 있었다.

  • High Tc superconducting YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ thin films were prepared on various substrates by off-axis rf magnetron sputtering method to examine the substrate effects on the film structure and its R-T characteristics. The SEM analysis showed that the surface morphology of the grown YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O.sub 7-x/, film has different characteristic structure with different substrate used. The film on (100) SrTiO$_{3}$ substrate has critical current density of 3*10$^{5}$ A/cm$^{2}$ at 77K under zero magnetic field. The X-ray diffraction measurements revealed that the films on (100) SrTiO$_{3}$ substrate have mixed a-axis and c-axis normal to the substrate surface and the films on (100) MgO and ZrO$_{2}$/sapphire substrates have c-axis normal orientation to the substrate surface. However, YBa$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$$O_{7-x}$ films on (100) sapphire substrates showed no preferential orientation.ion.

벌크형 초전도체의 전기자기적 특성 (Electromagnetic Properties of Bulk High-Tc Superconductor)

  • In this research, the development of fabrication technique of bulk YBaCuO superconductors for application was studied. In fluence of $BaZrO_3$ addition on magnetization characteristics of thermal pyrolysis textured YBaCuO superconductor was investigated. Fine $BaZrO_3$ particle were dispersed within the textured YBaCuO matrix by means of the thermal pyrolysis processing. Magnetic levitation force for YBaCuO superconductors were obtained using Nd-B-Fe permanent magnet, at 77 K and at the magnetic field from 0 to 5.3 K gauss. In the unadded superconductor and 5 wt% $BaZrO_3$ addition, anomalous magnetization behavior, which is characterized by the intermediate magnetic field, was observed at 77 K. Critical current density was about few hundreds $A/cm^2$ and the magnetic characteristics increased slightly by addition of $BaZrO_3$ powder. Maximum magnetic force was obtained in the YBaCuO superconducting bulk with 3 wt.% $BaZrO_3$ addition.

  • The submicron $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ powder was prepared by the sol-gel method. The particle size is distributed from 0.2 to $1.0\;{\mu}m$, which benefits to eliminate the micro-cracks formed in the $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ films deposited by electrophoresis. The powder was single phase of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ examined by X-ray diffraction. In the sol-gel process the citrate gel was formed from citric acid and nitrate solution of $Y_2O_3$, $Ba(NO_3)O_2$ and CuO. When pH values were adjusted to $6.4{\sim}6.7,\;Ba(NO_3)O_2$ could be dissolved in the citrate solution completely. Appropriate evaporative temperature of the sol-gel formation is discussed. After the heat treatment the transition temperature($T_c$) and critical current density($J_c$) of the $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ samples made of the submicron powder were measured.

Effects of Precursor Powders on the Directional Growth of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ Superconductors

  • Textured bulk $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ superconductors samples were grown directionally using different precursors of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ power. and a mixture of $YBa_2Cu_3O_5, BaCuO_2 and CuO$ powder. The microstructures and superconducting properties of the samples were compared. The mixture powder produced better microstructures i.e. dense and crack-free so that a higher critical current density was achieved at the same hot-zone temperature of 115$0^{\circ}C$ than the reacted powder does. When the reacted powder used as a precursor, as the hot-zone temperature increased upto 1215$^{\circ}C$, the texture of the sample improved and the critical current density increased. The amount of melt in the sample is of secondary importance for the growth of superconducting $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ grains. The microstructures and superconductivity of good quality superconductors grown directionally were more strongly influenced by the kind of precursor rather than the amount og melt in a sample.

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ thin films were fabricated by the spin-coating method on $SiO_2$/Si substrate using an alkoxide-based sol-gel method. The structural and electrical properties were investigated for various 1st annealing temperature. Due to the formation of the polycrystalline single phase, synthesis temperature was observed at around $720^{\circ}C-800^{\circ}C$. $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ thin films with the 1st annealing temperature of $450^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ showed the single XRD patterns without the second phase, such as $YBa_2Cu_4O_8$. The thickness of films was approximately $0.23{\mu}m{\sim}0.27{\mu}m$. Aerage grain size, resistance and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ thin films with the 1st annealing temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ were $0.27{\mu}m$, $59.7M{\Omega}$ and -3.7 %/K, respecvitely.
