A Study on the Japanese Street Fashion Since the 1990's (1990년대(年代) 이후(以後) 일본(日本)의 스트리트 패션에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the various types of styles and characteristics of Japanese street fashion since the 1990's. The primary source of data has been a collection of visual materials which include snapshots of young men and women in the Japanese street scene starting in the 1990's. To approach the Japanese street fashion comprehensively, I have divided the background of the Japanese fashion into three parts: 1. The birth of various fashion markets like the Dankai junior generation, Hetauma generation and Shinjinrui junior generation. 2. The pursuit of fashion senses like the well-balanced sense of independence and commensalism, uncommon sense and sense of a tassel. 3. A boom in new fashion business types like SPA and select shop. After the 1990's, the Japanese street fashion has changed through the popularity of styles which include the conservative casual style, sexy casual style, Harajuku pop style, and 3 Re(revival, remake, recycle) fashion style. The characteristics of the Japanese street fashion reflects the performance of virtual reality, the sign of style culture, and the communication of process.

An Analysis on the Street Fashion Trend of the Adolescent in Pusan (부산지역 청소년의 스트리트 패션 경향 분석)

  • The aim of this research is to establish basic materials for fashion merchandising by observing the street fashion of the juveniles and by analyzing their wearing, coordination and fashion trend. We have taken the photograph of the street fashion of 202 male teenagers and 265 female teenagers in Busan, and analyzed in the category of style, item, color, pattern, materials, hair style, shoes and accessories. We have concluded that the most frequent items were shirts (male), turtle neck (female) and jeans. The main style was casual just as jumper-look, sweater-look, gardigan-look. The typical female fashions that were hip-hop-look, twin neat-look, trench coat-look, were more various than male. For the color coordination, contrast color coordination was more dominant than similarity color coordination. Dominant patterns were solid, and also check and stripe patterns were frequently found in upper garment. The representative materials were soft for upper garment, and hard for trousers. Male teenagers prefer middle-length hair style and female teenagers prefer long hair style. The juveniles in Busan are wearing sports shoes and leather shoes in similar frequency. Their favorite accessories are bag, muffler and hat.

  • This paper is to study pertinent consumer evaluations and preferences of fashion depending upon human sensibility. Focus is placed on quantifying consumer's sensibility through the sensibility analysis of men's fashion. The subject are 227 male and female university students of who take the course of "Modern Life and Fashion" and "Understanding of Colors" in the OCU Cyber University. Data has been collected by survey method and subsequently analyzed and interpreted. To measure consumer's consuming sensibility, G-Sensibility tool developed by 'Fuji Central Institute' has been employed. The results of the analysis of ANOVA and MANOVA show significant differences among the following 5 styles: Active style G2, Open-minded style of G-3, Mania style of G4, Sensitive and emotional style of G5. According to ${\chi}^2$ test, the results show that the distinction of sex and their interests in fashion are significant different. The evaluation of men's fashion, according to Multi-dimensional test, shows a variety of differences according gender and G sensibility styles. These varied distinctions are illustrated statistical in Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3, Picture 4, Picture 8, and picture 10. Based art the results, a follow-up study to develop the case study and the apply it's results are recommended to produce products placed in the market.

Comparison of the Characteristics of Chanel Style between Modern and Postmodern Period (모던 시대와 포스트모던 시대의 샤넬 스타일 특성 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the characteristic of Chanel style between modern and postmodern period. The documentary research method was used for this study. The modem period was limited from around 1920 through 1939 and the postmodern period from 1990 through present for this research. The results were summarized as follows: The characteristics of clothing style in modem period were 1) the preference of slim & straight body figure as ideal one and slim & straight clothing silhouette, 2) the high fashion image for the elite by simple & basic design, 3) the emphasis on the harmony by the unity, 4) the tendency of eliminating ornaments on clothing, 5) the discontinuation of traditional way of dress code & style, and 6) the modern style. The characteristics of clothing style in postmodern period were 1) the emphasis on erotic aspects of female body and sexy design, 2) the popularization of high fashion and certain social group's fashion, 3) the tendency of harmony by mix-match, 4) the preference of ornaments in clothing, 5) the preference of retro-fashion, and 6) the continuation of modem style.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes and characteristics of street fashion in Japan of the 1980s. The data were collected from the Mainichi Newspaper published in Japan from 1950 to 1990. The results were as follows: 1. After world war II, the street fashion had changed through the styles of the Panpan, Apres, Miyuki, Hippie & Hooten, Bikers in Japan. 2. The 1980s was characterized as an era of post industrial society and the appearance of Shinjinrui which means new human. In street fashion, these changes led to greater focus on unique style in Japan. In the 1980s, the street fashion had developed within four styles : traditional casual wear style, American sports wear style, performance.oriented style, and Japanese DC brand style in Japan.

  • This study primarily concentrates on the Fashion Style of the New Generation which has come into being in 1980 with reference to the contents of the newspaper and magazine in 1950's. . The New Generation has undergone the social and cultural change under the effect of mass communication, mass consumption brought by the economic development, sports boom promoted during the period of Asian Games and Seoul Olympic Games and the adoption of the policy for the autonomous school uniform. In the process of the social and cultural change, they have the common peculiarity such as sensitivity, anthoritarianism and polarity and they have taken an important part in the development of the 'Young Fashion' The characteristics of their fashion styles are divided into three periods as follows; 1. The rising period (1980-1982): The most important pecuriality of the first step can be sum up to the following point. The free fashion style replaced the formal one such as T-shirt or casual wear comes into as a everyday dress. Moreover, many people become interested in the New Fashion which is gradually diversified and high-qualified. As a natural consequence, the lively interest of the people has brought into the appearance and competition of the New Brand in fashion industry 2. The growing period (1983-1986): Mannish Look, so-called 'New Fashion' gained the summit of the fashion and change over conservatively. However, 'Mannish Look' have great effect on the Fashion Style until now on. Specially in Korea, 'Punk Style'and 'Androgynous Look' can be an example among many. 3. The diversifying period (1987-1989): The Fashion Style has developed variously even though the Reactionism takes the lead as the main current of the Korean Fashion. Moreover, it is noticeable that man comes into the stage as a new fashion group and the fashion market begins to dear in various lines of goods with moderate and low prices. These various aspects can be regarded as diversification in the Fashion Style as the needs in the times and society.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the street fashion, which is influenced by the youth culture in 1960s. Youth culture is the youth subculture which appeared multiform in the 1960s. It tried to create a new culture by subverting the ruling class culture with their combative life style and peculiar appearance which are distinguished from mother culture. Youth cultures as youth subculture are symbolically expressed in their style which had strong characteristics of sub-fashion and anti-fashion, and which are different from mother fashion in shape. Therefore youth subculture fashion had an effect on street fashion in the 60s. The influence that the youth culture fashion had had on the street fashion is summarized as follows: Beats fashion was intelligency look on black dress, black polo-neck shirts, black trousers, black glasses and heavy black eyeliner. Mods fashion was neat style on Edwardian suit with narrow trousers, pointer-toeshoes and smooth croped hair. Folkis fashion was ethnic look, middle east asian look, peasant look, Indian style, south america look, gypsy style, natural materials, natural dying, tie-dye, beads and hand made ornaments. Rockers fashion was violence appearance categorized 'blue collar' on black leather jacket decorated with metal studs and hand-painted insignia, blue jeans and boots for motor bike. Swinging London & the Psychedelics fashion was blend mods look with pschedelic color and motive pattern. Hippie fashion was intermix pschedelic and natural or ethnic style. It was appear to be a meaningless, unpredictable assortment of diverse items and style. Faded and tattered jeans, army jackets, vintage hat, beads, embroidered headband, white sheets, diverse theatrical costumes, sandals or bare feet, granny dress, peasant blouse, blanket cape, tie-dye T-shirts and long hair. Greasers fashion was adorned black leather jacket with chains, fringing, badges, insignia and sleeves had been crudely ripped off. They came to be known wore jeans so soaked with oil. Skinheads fashion was aggressive working class identity with donkey jacket, jeans rolled up, collarless union shirts, heavy boots, braces and hair cropped short.

Color Analysis of Avatar fashion style from on-line portal sites

  • The purpose of this study is to classify Avatar fashion style through analysis of on-line Avatar Mall and to propose color pallette and fashion contents from fashion color analysis. The literature research focused on investigating the notion, characters and types of Avatar and relation of Avatar and self-image, clothing image and color image. In data research, 4 on-line portal sites Avatar Malls were analyzed and Avatar fashion style was classified. In addition, Avatar clothing color was analyzed. The research of this study are as follows: Firstly, Avatar in the cyber space represents 'me' of the real states. Avatar fashion helps to represent Avatar Image and clothing makes human image and identity as a social sign. Color helps to constitute clothing impression and human image, therefore clothing and color are the important elements to express self-image through Avatar in the cyber space. Secondly, Avatar Malls of 4 on-line portal sites are very similar and confuse Avatar users because of no standard of fashion style classification. Accordingly, the standard of fashion style classification should be made by a fashion expert, and the specific characters of every on-line portal site should be emphasized. Thirdly, as a result of the analysis of Avatar's clothing, the clothing is divided into a real world clothing and an imaginary world clothing. There are daily clothes, uniform, event clothes, story clothes and fantasy clothes. As a result of the color analysis of Avatar clothing, White, Red, Red Purple colors and bright and vivid tone are generally used for Avatar clothing. This study is significant to classify Avatar fashion style systematically, to notify sensitive and delicate users' sign and to make Avatar fashion image emotional and high-quality.

A Comparative Analysis of Street Fashion Styles in Korea and China, For Successful Launching into Chinese Fashion Market - Focusing on the Seoul and Dalian - (중국 패션시장의 성공적 진입을 위한 한.중 스트리트 패션스타일 비교.분석 - 서울시와 대련시의 비교를 중심으로 -)

  • The main investigation of this thesis is about the comparative analysis of the fashion style preferences in the ages of 20-30 women, according to the style, by researching the area of Dalian and Seoul, represented as outstanding fashion cities in north eastern area. Both taking pictures and recording camcoders were performed at the famous fashion street in Seoul and Dalian. The period of investigation was from 24th of July to 2nd of August 2008. The result of research are as follows. Generally, the casual style was predominant in both area. The jean casual in Seoul was somewhat tidy and conservative, while that in Dalian showed the tendency of boldly exposed their body. In terms of easy casual, T-shirts and mini-tight skirt were preferred in Seoul, while T-shirts and midi-flare skirt was popular in Dalian. In Seoul, the blouse and mini skirt were in vogue, while one-piece dress, blouse and 5/7/9 length pants were prevalent in Dalian, in case of romantic style. The sports casual was relatively low in frequency in both areas, however, it was relatively more popular in Dalian than in Seoul. The frequency of classic style was similar in both areas. The T-shirts/blouse and Chanel-line skirt were preferred in Seoul, while the combination of jacket/shirts and full-length straight pants were preferred in Dalian. The one-piece dress was predominant in feminine style, the combination of mini one-piece dress and shoulder bag prevalent in Seoul, while the combination of Chanel-line one-piece dress designed as boldly exposed body was popular in Dalian, which shows the tendency of sexy, feminine style. The clear contrast or differences of street styles in Seoul and Dalian would become evident by this research. The continuous investigations into the various regions of China would be expected as an important measure for the successful launching into the Chinese fashion market.
