  • The semiconductor industry develops and maintains software embedded in computer-controlled tools and facilities, to process and manufacture high-tech products. Upgrading embedded softwares for semiconductor processing robots and machinery is one of the basic activities that must be performed in order to maintain product quality and integrity. Maintenance and enhancement of embedded software consume a major portion of the total life cycle cost of a system. However, the area has been given little attention in the literature. 502 maintenance and enhancement cases, related to embedded softwares in wafer processing machines, were selected at random for analysis. Practical implications are also discussed.

  • In this study, we propose an algorithm to detect eating activity and estimation mealtime using 6-axis inertial sensor. The eating activity is classified into three types: food picking, food eating, and lowering. The feature points of the gyro signal are selected for each gesture, and the eating activity is detected when each feature point appears in the sequence. Morphology technique is used to post-process to detect meal time. The proposed algorithm achieves the accuracy of 94.3% and accuracy of 84.1%.

  • Quantification of the airborne microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) at a swine wastewater treatment plant was performed. Microbial samples were collected at three different phases of the treatment process over a 1-yr period. Cultivation methods based on the viable counts of mesophilic heterotrophic bacteria and fungi were performed. The concentrations of airborne bacteria ranged up to about $5{\times}10^3$ colony-forming unit (CFU)/$m^3$, and those of airborne fungi ranged up to about $9{\times}10^2CFU/m^3$. The primary treatment (e.g., screen, grit removal, and primary sedimentation) was found to be the major source of airborne microorganisms at the site studied, and higher levels of airborne bacteria and fungi were observed in summer. High levels of the respirable bioaerosol (0.65 to $4.7{\mu}m$ in size) were detected in the aeration phase. Among the environmental factors studied, temperature was strongly associated with fungal aerosol generation (with a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.90 and p-value <0.01). Occupational biorisks are discussed based on the observed field data.

  • In this study, we attempted to develop a convenient aluminizing process, using Al-Ti mixed slurry as an aluminum source, to control the Al content of the aluminized layer as a result of a one-step process and can be widely adopted for coating complex-shaped components. The aluminizing process was carried out by the heat treatment on disc and rod shaped S45C steel substrates with Al-Ti mixed slurries that were composed of various mixed ratios (wt%) of Al and Ti powders. The surface of the resultant aluminized layer was relatively smooth with no obvious cracks. The aluminized layers mainly contain an Fe-Al compound as the bulk phase. However, the Al concentration and the thickness of the aluminized layer gradually decrease as the Ti proportion among Al-Ti mixed slurries increases. It has also been shown that the Al-Ti compound layer, which formed on the substrate during heat treatment, easily separates from the substrate. In addition, the incorporation of Ti into the substrate surface during heat treatment was not observed.

  • Directionally melt-textured high $T_c\;(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})Ba_{2}Cu_{3}O_y$ [(YNS)-123] superconductor was systematically investigated by the zone melt growth process in air. A sample prepared by this method showed well-textured microstructure, and $(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})_{2}BaCuO_5$[(YNS)211] inclusions were uniformly dispersed in large $(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})Ba_{2}Cu_{3}O_y$ [(YNS)123] matrix. High irreversibility field and magnetization hysteresis loop of the zone melt-textured (YNS)-123 sample exhibited the enhanced flux pinning, compared with $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_y$ (Y-123) sample without RE(rare earth). Critical current density of (YNS)-123 sample was $2.5{\times}10^4\;A/cm^2$ at 2 T and 77 K.

  • There are two kinks of processes could detect the laser pointer. One is the process which detects the location of the pointer. the other one is a possibility of dividing with the process which converts the coordinate of the laser pointer which is input in coordinate of the monitor. The previous Mean-Shift algorithm is not appropriately for real-time video image to calculate many quantity. In this paper, we proposed the context driven real-time laser pointer detection and tracking. The proposed method is a possibility of getting the result which is fixed from the situation which the background and the background which are complicated dynamically move. In the actual environment, we can get to give constant results when the object come in, when going out at forecast boundary. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical application to verify the adequacy and the validity with the proposed method. Accordingly, the accuracy and the quality of image recognition will be improved the surveillance system.

  • The Test and Evaluation (T&E) system became more important due to its advancement and complexity of the weapon system. Time and cost saving T&E related studies are in progress mainly with advanced countries. By utilizing the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) technology recently, we may save time and money. Also, overcome security and safety limitations. There are many M&S based research activities in South Korea but it is way behind of the system that some countries already have developed. i.e.; United States. This area of study requires new way of developing strategies in the T&E system of Korea. This study is to design the Operational T&E system for weapon systems based on modeling of processes. And we modeled the processes of operational performance evaluation through utilizing resources and performance modules of weapon systems and combined it with the simulation engine for 3D visualization. Through this, we propose the Operational T&E system for weapon systems based on modeling of processes that represent operational performances visually.

  • The electrical loss of the photo-generated carriers is dominated by the recombination at the metal- semiconductor interface. In order to enhance the performance of the solar cells, many studies have been performed on the surface treatment with passivation layer like SiN, SiO2, Al2O3, and a-Si:H. In this work, Al2O3 thin films were investigated to reduce recombination at surface. The Al2O3 thin films have two advantages, such as good passivation properties and back surface field (BSF) effect at rear surface. It is usually deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique. However, ALD process is a very expensive process and it has rather low deposition rate. In this study, the ICP-assisted reactive magnetron sputtering method was used to deposit Al2O3 thin films. For optimization of the properties of the Al2O3 thin film, various fabrication conditions were controlled, such as ICP RF power, substrate bias voltage and deposition temperature, and argon to oxygen ratio. Chemical states and atomic concentration ratio were analyzed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In order to investigate the electrical properties, Al/(Al2O3 or SiO2,/Al2O3)/Si (MIS) devices were fabricated and characterized using the C-V measurement technique (HP 4284A). The detailed characteristics of the Al2O3 passivation thin films manufactured by ICP-assisted reactive magnetron sputtering technique will be shown and discussed.

  • We have studied the electrical properties and microstructure of $(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})Ba_2Cu_3O_y[(YNS)-123]$ Oxides by rod-type seeded melt growth process(RSMG) in air atmosphere. Rod-type $NdBa_2Cu_3O_y${Nd-123) seed crystals made a extrusion process method, were used for achieving the ab-plane alignment having large grains perpendicular to the center of (YNS)-123 samples. The observations using SEM and TEM micrographs of the melt-textured (YNS)-123 samples revealed that the nonsuperconducting $(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})Ba_2Cu_3O_y[(YNS)-211]$ inclusions are uniformly distributed in the superconducting matrix. The microstructure and electrical properties were investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM and DC SQUID magnetometer. The sample showed a sharp superconducting transition at 90 K. The magnetization values of the (YNS)-123 sample exhibited the enhanced electrical properties, compared with $YBa_2Cu_3O_y$(Y-123) sample.

  • The accelerated testing technique using the equivalent load condition plays an important part in development process. However, in the industrial field, the theoretical background and advantages of this accelerated testing technique have been lack of understanding. Because the environmental durability condition forms the foundation of the accelerated testing technique, it is important to analyze the loading components and damage in service environment. In this work, we present the theoretical background and process for accelerated testing, and introduce our accelerated equivalent load analysis program. We developed the GUI program, and the user can easily obtain the result by selecting the program module.
