  • Ceramic tile is widely used as a floor or interior decoration of buildings. The main processes are raw material blending, molding, drying, firing, etc., and since dimensional and quality stability are very important, they are generally molded by a dry press method. In ceramic tile molds, there is a liner that can be easily replaced in case of wear. The liner is constantly abrasion due to a continuous pressing process during tile forming, and it is required to be replaced every certain period. Even in the liner, use a wear-resistant fitting material only in areas where wear is concentrated. However, there was a risk that the fitting material was applied to large-sized tile molding due to problems such as damage to the molding machine and decrease in productivity when detached during the actual tile molding process due to weak fitting strength with the liner. Therefore, in this study, thermal-structural analysis for fitting tolerance analysis and structural analysis for fitting force analysis were performed for the shrink fit process of the fitting material.

Synthesis of Dodecyl Phenol Novolac Epoxy Resin and Physical Properties of Coatings (Dodecyl phenol novolac 에폭시수지의 합성과 도막물성)

  • In the paper, mild solvent soluble alkyl group modified epoxy resins were prepared via a three-step method; (1) the condensation reaction of dodecyl phenol (DP) and formaldehyde, (2) the crosslinking reaction of dodecyl phnol novolac compound (DPC) and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether, (3) the dodecyl phenol novolac epoxy resins containing fatty acid (DPFA) was prepared by introducing fatty acid to DPC. Equivalent ratios of DP and formaldehyde were 1.25~1.333/1.0. Equivalent ratio of DPC and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (YD-128) was 1.0/2.0. Reactivity, viscosity, molecular weight, solvent solubility, and physical properties of DPFA were investigated. The result show that as the number of aromatic ring of DPFA increased, viscosity increased and solvent solubility improved. When we test the properties of coatings by blending the synthesized DPFA with a white pigment, DPFAC-5 using triphenylphosphine (TPP) as a ring-open catalyst showed optical performance for drying time, adhesion, hardness, impact resistance, acid resistance and storage stability.

Standardization of the Comprehensive Learning Test-Reading for the Diagnosis of Dyslexia in Korean Children and Adolescents (국내 아동 및 청소년 난독증 진단을 위한 종합학습능력평가도구-읽기의 표준화 연구)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop the computerized Comprehensive Learning Test-Reading (CLT-R) to evaluate the cognitive processes and achievements related to their basic reading ability and identify dyslexia in children and adolescents in South Korea. We also obtained the normative data and evaluated the reliability and validity of the test. Methods: We developed the CLT-R, including the word attack/nonword decoding, paragraph reading, sound blending, nonword repetition, rapid automatized naming, letter-sound matching, visual attention, orthography awareness, and digit span tests, for the purpose of diagnosing dyslexia. We investigated the reliability and validity of the tests and gathered the normative data from 399 subjects (male 48.9%), aged 5-14 years, from the last grade in kindergarten to middle school, dwelling in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Results: No statistical differences were observed between the means of the tests and retests of the CAT. The mean of the correlation coefficient of the test-retest scores was 0.85. According to the construct validity test calculated by principal constant analysis using the oblique rotation method, 4 factors explained 70.0% of the cumulative variances. In addition, the normative data were obtained for all of the CLT-R subtests. Conclusion: The computerized CLT-R can be used as a reliable and valid tool to evaluate the reading achievement and reading related cognitive process in Korean children and adolescents in schools, clinics, and research institutes.

  • The Extra-Curriculum in The Air and Correspondence High School(ACHS), which play a role as an organization of lifelong learning, has not been operating properly for lack of appropriate circumstances and also educational research. So this research applied the Extra-Curriculum on-line contents to ACHS as an example to search for the effective operation solution in ACHS Extra-Curriculum, and derived the implications which are necessary to class operation. According to the implications which are obtained by the analysis of the application result, selected the five main areas in Blended-Learning which are necessary to the operation of ACHS Extra-Curriculum, and developed the direct instruction model by blending the teaching-learning method and strategy which is suitable for the ACHS Extra-Curriculum. Finally, based on these research results, this research developed the Blended-Learning Teaching Model for ACHS Extra-Curriculum by reflecting the peculiarity of ACHS student and characteristics of Extra-Curriculum contents.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of aromatherapy on headache, anxiety, and serum cortisol level in middle-aged women with recurrent headaches. Methods: Nineteen patients in the intervention group and 21 in the control group participated in the exercise. They were randomly selected volunteers whose average headache score over 6 months with above 4 points on the visual analogue scale (VAS). The experimental group received aromatherapy for 5 days; inhalation (3 times per day) and an application on the neck and both shoulders (one time per day). Prior and post treatment scores in headache, anxiety, and measurement of serum cortisol in experimental group were measured. Then, these were compared with the control group. The headache score was measured by VAS; anxiety score was measured by State Trait Anxiety Inventory; serum cortisol was measured by Radio-Immune-Assay method. Results: Decrease in headache, anxiety, and serum cortisol level in the experimental group was greater than those in the control group. Conclusion: It confirmed aromatherapy is effective in reducing headache, anxiety, and serum cortisol level.

Compatibilizing Effect of SEBS for Electrical Properties of LDPE/PS Blends (LDPE/PS 블렌드의 전기적 성질에 미치는 상용화제로서의 SEBS의 효과)

  • We investigated compatibilizing effects of electrical properties such as charge distributions and electrical breakdown in blends of low density polyethylene (LDPE) / polystyrene (PS) with poly [styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene] (SEBS), the triblock copolymer. The blends with $70\;wt\%$ of LDPE and $30\;wt\%$ of PS were prepared through a melt blending in a batch type kneader at a temperature of $220^{\circ}C$ when the SEBS content increased up to $10\;wt\%$. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was investigated for observation of morphology of LDPE / PS blends increasing SEBS contents. The morphological observation showed that addition of SEBS results in the domain size reduction of the dispersed PS phase and a better interfacial adhesion between LDPE and PS phases. Measurements of space charge distributions for blends was carried out with pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method. It was possible to observe that the amount of charge storage in the LDPE / PS blends decreased wiか increasing of SEBS content. The location of SEBS at a domain interface enables charges to move from one phase to the other via domain interface and results in a indicative decrease in the amount of space charge for the LDPE / PS blends with SEBS. Electrical breakdown strength of these blends was observed. It was found that the maximum breakdown strength of the blend was 51.55 kV/mm. These results were better than 38.38 kV/mm of LDPE used electrical insulator for cables and were caused by crystalinity of blends. Because the crystalinity of blends were lower than LDPE, electrical breakdown strength of LDPE / PS blends is higher than that of LDPE. We evaluated the possibility of these blends for insulating material substituted LDPE.

  • This study was made on the poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) and poly(vinyl acetate- ethylene) (VAE) emulsion polymer blend which used PVA as protective colloid, and the PVA used as protective colloid was existed in each emulsion film before blend and even in the film after the blend consecutively. It makes us expect excellent adhesive power among particles that form the blend. Emulsion blends with different Tg are important target of concerning, and PVAc/VAE emulsion blend suggested simple and excellent research method. As a result of blend, elongation was lowered by the increase of PVAc, and the plasticizer used in making PVAc affected on the Tg of blend and lowered Tg of VAE emulsion, and the synergy effect of two blends was seen for the tensile strength, thermal resistance, and adhesive strength.

Quality improving effect of dries noodle according to treatment of pine needle seasoning oil (솔잎향미유 처리에 의한 건면의 품질개선 효과)

  • Dried noodles was manufactured by wheat flour and saline solution mixture. At this time, saline solution mixture was used for simple saline solution and mixture(blending ratio of PNSO and emulsifier=2:1, w/w) of both pine needle seasoning oil (PNSO) manufactured by autoclaving method and food emulsifier. Water absorption ratio, volume expansion ratio and water soluble solid matters content were decreased, but cooking time was prolonged, respectively. According to, suitable treating amount of PNSO was 2-3%(w/w) level. On organoleptic test, the peculiar green color was appeared in cooked noodles of PNSO treating groups. The surface was slickly, chewy rheology and texture were improved at PNSO treating cooked noodle. During 20-30 minutes after cooking, chewy characteristics was maintained the treating groups more than PNSO 2%(w/w). At the result, this PNSO treatin dried noodle samples were suitable at the institutional food service as well as dining hal1 for the case of large scale's kitchen work.

The Study of Working Drawing Method in Interior Architecture (실내건축 실시설계도면 작성방법 연구)

  • Now interior designers have to meet this challenge by rising to the occasion and taking advantage of opportunities while strengthening their skills which have not kept pace with the increasing emphasis on design. furthermore, they are hampered by the lack of a general working design methodology. Interior designers in Korea have been slow to recognize the need for developing a specification methodology manual which could be adapted to meet varying requirements and modified to reflect designers experiences. The design process in Korean interior design often involves utilizing drawing document methods based on architectural prototypes rather than upon drawing methods developed by design firms as a result of work experience s and unique needs. However, these unique nees are nearly always limited by traditional working drawing methods. This has led to confusion and inaccuracies due to the lack of a single starndardized and universally acceptable working drawing methodology which is capable of reflecting the needs of all parties involved , partiality those of interior designers. This thesis is an attmepted to establish the necessity for developing a better working drawing methodogoy or technical mans of satisfying the information sorting and processing need s of interior design professionals, a five step suggestion for developing such a methodology follows. First, arrange pertinent design research information by means of a process which can be employed throughout the design process, from inception through to working drawing stage. The end result should be an interior architectural design process culminating in a pattern skillfully blending architecture, vision and product with environment . The design process should be manifested into a series of definable steps and yet sufficiently flexible and variable in order to provide the most apropos design solution. Secondly , motify the design methodology systematically according to site conditions and prevailing construction technology and manifest the design process in a booklet form so that it reflects a desired pattern. Thirdly, this methodology should incorporate a stand-ardized and functional process capable of being utilized to impact clear design concepts and objectives with preci-sion and efficiency in a manual form.

Microbial Community Structure of Korean Cabbage Kimchi and Ingredients with Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis

  • Kimchi is a traditional Korean fermented vegetable food, the production of which involves brining of Korean cabbage, blending with various other ingredients (red pepper powder, garlic, ginger, salt-pickled seafood, etc.), and fermentation. Recently, kimchi has also become popular in the Western world because of its unique taste and beneficial properties such as antioxidant and antimutagenic activities, which are derived from the various raw materials and secondary metabolites of the fermentative microorganisms used during production. Despite these useful activities, analysis of the microbial community present in kimchi has received relatively little attention. The objective of this study was to evaluate the bacterial community structure from the raw materials, additives, and final kimchi product using the culture-independent method. Specifically, polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) was used to analyze the 16S rRNA partial sequences of the microflora. One primer set for bacteria, 341FGC-518R, reliably produced amplicons from kimchi and its raw materials, and these bands were clearly separated on a 35-65% denaturing gradient gel. Overall, 117 16S rRNA fragments were identified by PCR-DGGE analysis. Pediococcus pentosaceus, Leuconostoc citreum, Leuconostoc gelidum, and Leuconostoc mesenteroides were the dominant bacteria in kimchi. The other strains identified were Tetragenococcus, Pseudomonas, Weissella, and uncultured bacterium. Comprehensive analysis of these microorganisms could provide a more detailed understanding of the biologically active components of kimchi and help improve its quality. PCR-DGGE analysis can be successfully applied to a fermented food to detect unculturable or other species.
