The structure analysis of $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_x$ high Tc superconductor based on rietveld method (리트벨트 해석법을 이용한 $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_x$ 고온 초전도체의 구조분석)

  • For the execution of RIETAN program adopting Rietveld Analysis Method, the sample superconductor is made according to the solid state synthesis method at 920.deg. C for 24hrs, and was examined for the optimization of parameters needed to analyze Rietveld method with the input of the measured pattern data after measuring the pattern resulted from the X-ray diffraction. It was proven that the lattice constant of the superconductor which was consisted of Pmmm orthorhombic crystal structure in the analyzed space group correspond to the presented theoretical lattice constant a=3.8887(8).angs., b=3.8238(4).angs., c=11.7079.angs.. Therefore, it was examined and confin-ned that the R factor, which was compensated after analyzing the structure of superconductor resulted from this experimented data with the computer simulation, was refined to $R_{wp}$=8.83[%], $R_{P}$=6.47[%], $R_{I}$=10.08[%], $R_{F}$=7.19[%], $R_{E}$=3.76[%]. On the basis of these experimental data, the significant parameter such as the scale factor(S) and the zero point shift(Z) and FWHM value(U,V,W) were optimized as follows; S=2.0827E-3, Z=0.2146, U=4.2761E-2, V=1.7983E-2, and W=2.6768E-2.2.2.2.2.2.

  • In this article, current state of development of energy storage system using superconductor was summarized. As a result of continuous efforts, high critical current density exceeding $10^4\;A/cm^3$ at 77K and strong levitation capacity have been achieved in Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductor which is fabricated by melting technique. Various applications using the levitation properties of high-Tc superconductor is expected to come true in near future.

Nd1+XBa2-XCu3O7-δ Bulk Superconductor by Zone-melt Process

  • Two kinds of $Nd_{1+X}Ba_{2-X}Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$, the sintering samples and zone melting samples, were heat-treated under pure Ar at 950$^{circ}C$. The substitution of Nd ion for Ba ion in the $Nd_{1+X}Ba_{2-X}Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ before and after the heat treatment was investigated by XRD. In order to confirm the effects of the heat treatment, the Tc and Jc of samples with/without the heat treatment under Ar were comparatively studied. $Nd_{1+X}Ba_{2-X}Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ samples were oxygenated under pure oxygen at $300^{circ}C$. From the XRD pattern it was found that the sample with x<0.4 was transferred from tetragonal phase to orthorhombic phase after the oxygenation, while the sample with x>0.4 did not show the phase transition even after a long time oxygenation. Therefore, the low oxygen partial pressure (Ar+1 % O$_2$) was used for the ambient atmosphere of the zone-melting samples, which could reduce the melting temperature and depress the substitution of Nd for Ba. After the improvement in the zone-melting process, the Jc value was increased to 2 x $10^4$A/$cm^2$ (0 T, 78 K). The particle orientation and the structure of zone-melted NdBaCuO were studied by the XRD and SEM analysis.

Reaction Characterization of Y2Ba1CU1O5 Oxides by Solid State Reaction Method and Pyrophoric Synthesis Method (고상반응법과 발화합성법에 의한 Y2Ba1CU1O5 산화물의 반응특성)

  • $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5(Y211)$ powders were prepared by pyrophoric synthesis method and by solid state reaction method using $Y_2O_3(99.9%)$, $BaCO_3(99.9%)$, and CuO(99.9%) powders in both of these processes. The phase formation and reaction kinetics of $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5$ powders have been studied using X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD) of samples at various heat treatment temperatures and reaction time. The reaction characterization suggested that the phase formation rate is mainly controlled by the particle size of Y211 powders. The activation energy(${\Delta}E_a$) of Y211 phase formation in this pyrophoric synthesis method was found to be 136.42 kJ/mol compared with 149.46 kJ/mol for that of solid state reaction method. These results data showed that the pyrophoric synthesis method is kineticaly more efficient than the solid state reaction method in this $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5$ system.

  • X-선 회절 분석 및 적외선 투과율 측정은 실온에서 수행되었다. 또한 $Y_{1-x}$Nd$_{x}$Ba$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O$_{7-y}$고온초전도체의 자기 임계전류밀도와 저항은 각각 30K와 80-140K 범위의 온도에서 조사되었다. 시료들은 고상 반응법에 의해서 제조되었다. 시료들의 결정구조는 X-선 회절무늬로 부터 모두 직방정계임이 판명되었다. 한편 x의 양이 증가함에 따라서 전이온도 T$_{c}$는 88K 근처의 값을 가지며 x의 양이 증가함에 따라 약간 감소하였다. 적외선 투과율 측정에서 날카로운 peak들은 472.23-618.87$cm^{-1}$ / 범위에 있었다. 이것은 특이할 정도로의 low-lying plasmalike edge와 낮은 에너지의 전자적인 여기가 존재함을 나타내는 것이다. 자기임계 전류밀도는 $10^{2}$~$10^{3}$A/$cm^{2}$ 범위에 있었다.있었다.

  • The temperature dependence of the magentic moment was determined for the system of high $T_{c}$ superconductor $Y_{1-X}Sm_{x}Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ with x=0, 0.2, 0.4, 0, 6, 0.8 and 1.0. Also the magnetic susceptibility and the magnetic critical current density were measured from the magnetic hysterisis loops obtained at 30 K. From the results of the magnetic susceptibility measurements, the high $T_{c}$ phase were ranged from 14.7 to 49.1%. The values of the magnetic critical current densities were in the range of $10^3~10^4A/cm^2$. The penetration depth was approximately ninety times larger than the coherence length.

  • The chemical bond parameters of Y-123, Eu-123, Pr-123 and Gd-123 compounds have calculated using the chemical bond theory of complex crystals. Their hardness have been predicted by the chemical bond definition of hardness. The calculated results indicate that the Ba-O and RE-O types of bond have a lower covalent character and the Cu-O types of bond have greater covalency. The hardness values increase as the unit cell volume of the rare earth superconductor structures decrease.

  • High $T_{c}$ superconducting $Y_{1}Ba_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$ thin film was grown up for c-axis orientation by epitaxial growth method on $LaAlO_{3}$ single crystal substrate. The crystal structures of this thin film were found to be c-axis orientation by X-ray diffraction patterns. Hall effect and resistivity measurements were made by van der Pauw method. Hall resistivity was calculated from the magnetoresistivity by considering thermomagnetic effect. The relation was $pH=p_{s}tan{\alpha}_{n}-QBT\frac{S_s}{K_s}$ The measured Hall resistivity and the calculated one are in good agreement each other.

  • The peculiarities of using Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) and solid-stave chase synthesis for production of high temperature superconductor materials were discussed. Oxide superconductors with general formula of $ReBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (Re=Y, Sm) haute been made by using barium oxide initial powder instead of traditional barium carbonate. Phenomena observed during the grinding of the reactants mixture are presented. Mechano-chemical activation - as a pre-treatment of the reactants mixture - strongly influences the kinetic parameters, the reaction mechanism, and the composition and structure of the final product.

  • Y-Ra-Cu-0 oxide superconductors were fabricated by the sinter-forging method to make the critical current density improve through controlling of microstructure and crystal texture. The grain alignment of oxide superconductor was formed by the sinter-forging process and it's c-axis orientation was parallel to the press direction.The orientation factor of texture increased with sinking temperature and pressure, and also grain alignment was improved by the addition of Ag. As for the sinterforged Y-Ba-Cu-O/Ag sample, the $T_c$(on-set) was not almost varied with the sinter-forging temperature, but $T_c\;^{zero}$ decreased more or less at high sinter-forging temperatures. In addition, it was observed that added-Ag was mainly distributed along the grain boundar~es in the (123) matrix, resulting in the densification of microstructure. From these results, i t was thought that the improvement of $J_c$ over 2000A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was attributed to the texture, densification of microstructure, and (123) grain growth due to the Ag addition.
