전력기기 적용을 위한 초전도 세라믹의 전기자기적 특성 (Electromagnetic Characteristics of Superconducting Ceramics for Electrical Power Devices)

  • The formation of oxide superconducting phase fabrication of superconducting wire materials and fabrication of precise superconducting material were studied for developing superconductor application technique. The $ZrO_2$ addition reduced the particle size $BaZrO_3$ trapped in the matrix after the sintering growth. The added $ZrO_2$ was converted to fine particles of $BaZrO_3$ which is the conventional sintering temperature for YBaCuO, $Y_2Ba_1Cu_1O_5$ and CuO are formed as by products of the reaction between $ZrO_2$ and YBaCuO phase. The formation of highly $BaZrO_3$ particle appears to be responsible for the refinement of $BaZrO_3$ phase after the citric acid sintering process.

Characterization and Electrical Properties in (YNS)BCO Oxides by Rod-type Seeded Melt Growth Process

  • We have studied the electrical properties and microstructure of $(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})Ba_2Cu_3O_y[(YNS)-123]$ Oxides by rod-type seeded melt growth process(RSMG) in air atmosphere. Rod-type $NdBa_2Cu_3O_y${Nd-123) seed crystals made a extrusion process method, were used for achieving the ab-plane alignment having large grains perpendicular to the center of (YNS)-123 samples. The observations using SEM and TEM micrographs of the melt-textured (YNS)-123 samples revealed that the nonsuperconducting $(Y_{0.5}Nd_{0.25}Sm_{0.25})Ba_2Cu_3O_y[(YNS)-211]$ inclusions are uniformly distributed in the superconducting matrix. The microstructure and electrical properties were investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM and DC SQUID magnetometer. The sample showed a sharp superconducting transition at 90 K. The magnetization values of the (YNS)-123 sample exhibited the enhanced electrical properties, compared with $YBa_2Cu_3O_y$(Y-123) sample.

국부용융성장법으로 제조된 Sm이 첨가된 YBCO 초전도체의 용융온도 및 성장 속도에 따른 미세구조 (Melt growth and superconducting properties of Sm-doped YBCO super-conductor by zone melting method)

  • Sm 원소가 첨가된 $(Sm/Y)_{1.8}Ba_{2.4}Cu_{3.4}O_{7-x}$[이하 (Sm/Y)1.8] 고온초전도체를 국부용융성장법을 이용해 대기 중에서 용융성장실험을 하였다. 초기 (Sm/Y)1.8 초전도체 시편은 rubber 몰드를 이용해 냉간정수압성형(CIP) 과정을 거쳐 길이 방향 원통형상으로 제조되었다. 이렇게 얻어진 (Sm/Y)1.8 초전도체는 용융온도 및 성장속도에 따라 광학현미경, TEM그리고 SQUID magnetometer를 이용해 미세구조 및 초전도특성을 평가하였다. 이 결과 (Sm/Y)1.8 초전도체의 최적의 용융온도 및 성장속도는 $1085^{\circ}C$에서 3.5mm/hr로 나타났다. 특히 일방향으로 용융성장된 (Sm/Y)1.8 초전도체의 광학현미경 및 TEM에 의하 미세구조 관측 결과, 초전도상인 (Sm/Y)123 matrix내에 비초전도상인 (Sm/Y)211 inclusions이 균질하게 분포되어 있는 것이 관측되었다. 초전도특성을 평가한 결과 용융성장된 (Sm/Y)1.8초전도체는 90K에서 임계온도가 시작되어 77K이상의 온도에서 포화되는 특성을 보였다.

  • In this work, nano size $BaCeO_3$, which is a possible flux pinning medium of melt processed $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_x$ superconductor, was synthesized by the conventional solid state reaction method using powders. $BaCeO_3$ and $CeO_2$ were mixed thoroughly using a ball milling for 24 hours and calcined at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours for the formation $BaCeO_3$ powder. The obtained $BaCeO_3$ powder was attrition milled at various milling times of 60 min, 120 min and 240 min. The $BaCeO_3$ powders of various milling times were mixed with $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_x$ powder. Seed melt processed $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_x$-$BaCeO_3$ (15wt.%) superconductors were prepared and the superconducting properties were investigated. It was found that $T_c$ of $Y_{1.5}Ba_{2}Cu_{3}O_x$ samples was not significantly affected by $BaCeO_3$ addition, but $J_c$ of samples was increased by $BaCeO_3$ addition. The $J_c$ improvement by fine $BaCeO_3$ powder (120 min attrition-milled) was effective at low magnetic fields less than 2 T.

Thermal Evolution of BaO-CuO Flux as Sintering Aid for Proton Conducting Ceramic Fuel Cells

  • The eutectic melt of BaO-CuO flux is known to be a potential sintering aid for $Ba(Zr,Y)O_3$ (BZY) electrolyte for proton-conducting ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs). A density of BZY higher than 97% of theoretical density can be achieved via sintering at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 2 h using a flux composed of 28 mol% BaO and 72 mol% CuO. In the present study, chemical and structural evolution of BaO-CuO flux throughout the sintering process was investigated. An intermediate holding step at $1100^{\circ}C$ leads to formation of various impurity compounds such as $BaCuO_{1.977}$, $Ba_{0.92}Cu_{1.06}O_{2.28}$ and $Cu_{16}O_{14.15}$, which exhibit significantly larger unit cell volumes than the matrix. The presence of such secondary compounds with large lattice mismatch can potentially lead to mechanical failure. On the other hand, direct heating to the final sintering temperature produced CuO and $Cu_2O$ as secondary phases, whose unit cell volumes are close to that of the matrix. Therefore, the final composition of the flux is strongly affected by the thermal history, and a proper sintering schedule should be used to obtain the desired properties of the final product.

고온 초전도 전류제한기용 후막의 특성 연구 (A Study on Characterization of Thick Film used as Superconducting Fault Current Limiter)

  • In this paper, to fabricate a superconducting fault current limiter(FCL) of thick film type, $YBa_2Cu_3O_X superconducting thick films were fabricated by surface diffusion process using the screen printing method. Powder mixture of $3BaCuO_2$+2CuO was screen printed on $Y_2BaCuO_5$(d=15mm). And critical current densities of the thick films were observed as the sintering temperature(92$0^{\circ}C$~95$0^{\circ}C$) and holding time(2h~10h). Based on experimental data, the thick films for superconducting FCL were sintered at $940^{\circ}C$ in 2 hours. The superconducting FCL with a current limiting area of 1mm wide and 66mm long was prepared on $Y_2BaCuO_5$ substrate. To measure the characterization of the fabricated FCL, an alternating voltage (60Hz) was applied to the FCL in 77K liquid nitrogen. At an applied voltage of 4V, the FCL was limited from 20A into 0.6A not farther than 0.5ms.

벌크형 초전도체의 전기자기적 특성 (Electromagnetic Properties of Bulk High-Tc Superconductor)

  • In this research, the development of fabrication technique of bulk YBaCuO superconductors for application was studied. In fluence of $BaZrO_3$ addition on magnetization characteristics of thermal pyrolysis textured YBaCuO superconductor was investigated. Fine $BaZrO_3$ particle were dispersed within the textured YBaCuO matrix by means of the thermal pyrolysis processing. Magnetic levitation force for YBaCuO superconductors were obtained using Nd-B-Fe permanent magnet, at 77 K and at the magnetic field from 0 to 5.3 K gauss. In the unadded superconductor and 5 wt% $BaZrO_3$ addition, anomalous magnetization behavior, which is characterized by the intermediate magnetic field, was observed at 77 K. Critical current density was about few hundreds $A/cm^2$ and the magnetic characteristics increased slightly by addition of $BaZrO_3$ powder. Maximum magnetic force was obtained in the YBaCuO superconducting bulk with 3 wt.% $BaZrO_3$ addition.

  • High-Tc superconductor thick films of YBa2Cu$\chi$O7-y (X=3, 3.5, 4) of which thickness varies from 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 200 $\mu\textrm{m}$ were successfully prepared by plasma spraying method, and the characteristics of thick film depending on copper content and heat treatment conditions were investigated. Regardless of heat-treated temperature, the specimens with X=3 were composed of YBa2Cu$\chi$O7-y, Y2BaCuO5 and BaCuO3 phases. The specimens with X=4, however, were composed of YBa2Cu$\chi$O7-y phase at all heat treatment conditions. The specimens with X=4 composition showed the best superconducting characteristics after heat treatment at 925$^{\circ}C$, and the superconducting transition temperature with zero resistivity (Tc,zero) was 87K. The thick film lost superconductivity when the specimens were heat-treated at 950$^{\circ}C$ because of interdiffusion between superconductor elements and bond coating elements and Y2BaCuO5 phase was found was found to be main phase at the interface.

Solid-liquid phase equilibria on the GdBa2Cu3O7-δ stability phase diagram in low oxygen pressures (1 - 100 mTorr)

  • We report the solid-liquid phase equilibria on the $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (GdBCO) stability phase diagram in low oxygen pressures ($PO_2$) ranging from 1 to 100 mTorr. On the basis of the GdBCO stability phase diagram experimentally determined in low oxygen pressures, the isothermal sections of three different phase fields on log $PO_2$ vs. 1/T diagram were schematically constructed within the $Gd_2O_3-Ba_2CuO_y-Cu_2O$ ternary system, and the solid-liquid phase equilibria in each phase field were described. The invariant points on the phase boundaries include the following three reactions; a pseudobinary peritectic reaction of $GdBCO{\leftrightarrow}Gd_2O_3$ + liquid ($L_1$), a ternary peritectic reaction of $GdBCO{\leftrightarrow}Gd_2O_3+GdBa_6Cu_3O_y$ + liquid ($L_2$), and a monotectic reaction of $L_1{\leftrightarrow}GdBa_6Cu_3O_y+L_2$. A conspicuous feature of the solid-liquid phase equilibria in low $PO_2$ regime (1 - 100 mTorr) is that the GdBCO phase is decomposed into $Gd_2O_3+L_1$ or $Gd_2O_3+GdBa_6Cu_3O_y+L_2$ rather than $Gd_2BaCuO_5+L$ well-known in high $PO_2$ like air.

서로 다른 반응경로에 따른 일방향 용융공정된 Y-Ba-Cu-O계 Bulk초전도체의 미세구조 고찰 (The Effect of Different Reaction Path on the Microstructure of the Melt Processed Y-Ba-Cu-O Superconducting System)

  • 초기 혼합분말을 다르게 사용함으로써 다른 반응경로를 따라 성장된 일방향 집합조직 YB $a_{2}$BaCu $O_{5}$(Y211)형상과 분포가 초기 혼합분말이 달라짐에 따라 상당히 다르게 형성되었다. 여러 반응경로 중에서 $Y_{2}$ $O_{3}$+Y123$\longrightarrow$ $Y_{1.6}$Ba/ sub 2.2/ $O_{y}$와 ( $Y_{2}$ $O_{3}$BaCu $O_{2}$)+Y123$\longrightarrow$ $Y_{1.6}$B $a_{2.3}$C $u_{3.3}$ $O_{y}$반응에 의하여 용융공정된 경우 일방향 집합조직 Y 123 결정 성장이 잘 일어났으며, 특히 Y123의 포정반응 온도 이하의 낮은 온도에서도 결정성장이 일어났다. 또한 Y211입자 미세화가 다른 반응에 의한 용융공정보다 잘 일어났다. 이와같은 서로 다른 반응과정에 의하여 용융공정된 미세구조의 차이점들을 $Y_{2}$ $O_{3}$-BaO-CuO 3원계 상평형도를 이용하여 설명하였다.다.다.다.다.다.다.
