  • Currently, piezoelectric ceramics are being applied in various fields, such as ultrasonic sensors, vibration devices, sound filters, and various energy conversion devices. Flexible piezoelectric ceramics are widely studied in an effort to mitigate the disadvantages of their brittle and inductile properties. Structural damage to piezoelectric fibers is much less than that to thin films when piezoelectric fibers are twisted or bent. Therefore, stretchable devices can be fabricated if piezoelectric fibers are obtained using an elongated substrate. In this study, sintering processes of PZT ($Pb(Zr_{0.53}Ti_{0.47})O_3$) fibers prepared by electrospinning were optimized through the TGA and XRD analyses. The crystal structure and microstructure of the piezoelectric fibers were investigated by XRD, FE-SEM and TEM.

Structural and Optical Properties of Yellow-Emitting CaGd2ZrSc(AlO4)3:Ce3+ Phosphor for Solid-State Lighting

  • Single-phase yellow phosphor, $CaGd_{2-x}ZrSc(AlO_4)_3:xCe^{3+}$ ($CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$), possessing cubic symmetry with varied $Ce^{3+}$ concentrations, was synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), excitation spectra, emission spectra, thermal quenching, and decay curves. The cubic phase of $CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor was confirmed via XRD analysis. The photoluminescence spectra of $CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor demonstrated that the phosphor could be excited at the wavelength of 440 nm; a broad yellow emission band was centered at 541 nm. These results indicate that the phosphors are adequately excited by blue light and have the potential to function as yellow-emitting phosphors for applications in white light-emitting diodes.

  • $CaF_2-CaO-P_2O_5$계에서 congruent melting하는 apatite$(Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6F_2)$ 단결정을 FZ법으로 길이 50~60mm의 크기로 육성하였따. 분위기는 산소 분위기로 하였으며 회전수는 상하 상호 역방향으로 20~30rpm로, 성장속도와 분위기 등을 조절하면서 최적의 성장조건을 찾고자 하였다. 성분 원소중 Ca를 Co로 부분 치환시켜 적외선 흡수도 증가 및 발색효과를 얻었다. 결정성 및 성장 방위를 고찰하기 위해 laue back reflection pattern을 조사하였으며, XRD를 이용하여 apatite 합성을 확인하였고 광투과로 FTIR분석으로 발색 및 성분원소를 동정하였다.

  • The effect of excess Bi contents on the ferroelectric properties of B $i_{3.25}$ L $a_{0.75}$ $Ti_3$ $O_{12}$ (BLT) thin films has been investigated. Bismuth lanthanum titanate thin films with excess Bi contents were prepared onto Pt/Ti/ $SiO_2$/Si substrate by metalorganic decomposition (MOD) technique. The structure and morphology of the films were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), respectively. From the XRD analysis, BLT thin films show polycrystalline structure and the layered-perovskite phase was obtained over 10% excess of Bi contents. As a result of ferroelectric characteristics related to the Bi content of the BLT thin film, the remanent polarization and dielectric constant decreased with increasing over Bi content of 10% excess. The BLT film with Bi content of 10% excess was measured to have a dielectric constant of 326 and dielectric loss of 0.024. The BLT thin films showed little polarization fatigue test up to 3.5$\times$10$^{9}$ bipolar switching cycling.

Effect of Different Aging Times on Sn-Ag-Cu Solder Alloy

  • This work studied the thickness and contact angle of solder joints between SAC 305 lead-free solder alloy and a Copper (Cu) substrate. Intermetallic compound (IMC) thickness and contact angle of 3Sn-Ag-0.5Cu (SAC 305) leadfree solder were measured using varying aging times, at a fixed temperature at 30℃. The thickness of IMC and contact angle depend on the aging time. IMC thickness increases as the aging increases. The contact angle gradually decreased from 39.49° to 27.59° as aging time increased from zero to 24 hours for big solder sample. Meanwhile, for small solder sample, the contact angle increased from 32.00° to 40.53° from zero to 24 hours. The IMC thickness sharply increased from 0.007 mm to 0.011 mm from zero to 24 hours aging time for big solder. In spite of that, for small solder the IMC thickness gradually increased from 0.009 mm to 0.017 mm. XRD analysis was used to confirm the intermetallic formation inside the sample. Cu6Sn5, Cu3Sn, Ni3Sn and Ni3Sn2 IMC layers were formed between the solder and the copper substrate. As the aging time increased, the strength of the solder joint mproved due to reduced contact angle.

Characterization of Graphene Sheets Formed by the Reaction of Carbon Monoxide with Aluminum Sulfide

  • Graphene sheets formed by the reaction of carbon monoxide (CO) with aluminum sulfide ($Al_2S_3$) at reaction temperatures ${\leq}$ 800 $^{\circ}$ were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The graphene sheets, formed as CO was reduced to gaseous carbon by the reaction with $Al_2S_3$, in the temperature range 800 - 1100 $^{circ}C$, did not exhibit their characteristic XRD peaks because of the small number of graphene layers and/or low crystallinity of graphene sheets. Raman spectra of graphene sheets showed that the intensity ratio of the D band to the G band decreased and the 2D band was shifted to higher frequencies with increasing reaction temperature, indicating that the number of graphene layers increased with increasing reaction temperature.

CVPE(Chloride Vapor Phase Epitaxy)법에 의한 GaN 박막성장 연구 (GaN Thin Flims Grown by CVPE(Chloride Vapor Phase Epitaxy) Method)

  • GaN와 $NH_3$를 source gas로 사용하여 (0001) sapphire 기판에 CVPE(Chloride Vapor Epitaxy)방법으로 GaN 박막을 성장시킨후 그 특성을 조사하였다. 성장온도 $970^{\circ}C$ 부터 $1040^{\circ}C$ 영역에서 source gas의 유량비를 변화하면서 최적증착조건을 구현하였고, GaN증착이전에 $NH_3$ 가스로써 질화전처리를 하였다. 수행된 실험조건범위내에서 최적증착조건은 증착온도 $1040^{\circ}C$에서 질화전 처리 3분으로 III/V source gas의 유량비율이 2일 때 였으며, 이때의 XRD분석에서의 FWHM값은(0001) peak에서 약 0.32deg를 나타내었다. GaN박막성장속도는 이때 약 $1040^{\circ}C$였다.

연소합성 TiO2 나노입자의 고온 상변환 특성에 관한 연구 (Phase Transformation Characteristics of Combustion-Synthesized TiO2 Nanoparticles)

  • In this article, $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were synthesized by using $O_2$-enriched coflow, hydrogen, diffusion flames. We investigated the thermal stability of the flame-synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by examining the crystalline structures of the nanoparticles. Also, the results were compared with those of commercial P-25 nanoparticles. $TiO_2$ nanoparticles, which were spherical with diameters approximately ranging from 30 to 60nm, were synthesized. From the XRD analyses, about 96wt% of the synthesized nanoparticles were anatase-phase. After the heat-treatment at $800^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes, the synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles showed no significant changes of their shapes and crystalline phases. On the other hand, most of the commercial particles sintered with each other and changed to the rutile-phase. Based on the result of XRD analysis it is believed that the flame-synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles have higher thermal stability at $800^{\circ}C$ than the commercial particles.

  • 경사기능재료(FGM)는 일반적으로 세라믹스나 금속과 같은 서로 다른 재료로 이루어져 있다. FGM의 성질은 조성구배, 미세조직, 기공율에 의해 변화가 일어난다. 본 연구에서는 입방체 AlN/Al-$Al_3$Ti FGM은 분말야금공정으로 제조하였고 그 특성을 관찰하였다. Al에 서로 다른 Mg와 Ti 분말을 steel 몰드에 조성구배를 폭넓게 하여 적층, 혼합하였다. 소결온도와 Mg의 양을 점점 증가시킴으로써 형성된 AlN의 양도 더 증가하였다. AlN과 $Al_3$Ti는 조성구배를 XRD 분석, 광학현미경으로 조직을 관찰하였으며 미소경도시험을 행하였다.

졸-겔 방법에 의한 전기적 착색 박막의 제작과 특성 (PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF EIECTROCHROMIC WINDOW COATING BY THE SOL-GEL METHOD)

  • 졸-겔 기술에 의해 $WO_3$ 다충박막이 유리와 ITO coated glass 위에 증착되었다. 특성은 XRD, 분광광도계, DTA/TGA, SEM/EDAX 그리고 RBS에 의해서 분석되었다. 균질한 $WO_3$막은 유리기판위에 dipping속도 5mm/s에서 증착 되었으며 이 시료는 희석된 HCI 전해액을 사용하여 착색시킨 결과 낮은 근적외선 투과율을 나타내었다. DTA 결과 $380^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ 범위의 gel data는 $WO_3$의 결정화 온도 형성을 결정하였으며 이 측정치는 졸-겔 박막의 결정화 온도와 일치하였다. RBS에 의해 착색되지 않은 $WO_3$ 졸-겔 막의 화학조성은 $WO_3$였다.
