Nanotube Shape Variation on the Ti-xNb Alloys with Alloying Elements and Applied Potentials

  • The purposed of this work was to determine nanotube shape variation on the Ti-xNb alloys with alloying elements and applied potentials. Samples were prepared by arc melting, followed by followed by homogenization for 12 hr at $1000^{\circ}C$ in argon atmosphere. This study was evaluated the phase and microstructure of Ti-xNb alloys using an X-ray diffraction (XRD) and optical microscopy (OM). The morphology of the samples was investigated with a field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The nanotube on the alloy surface was formed in 1 M $H_3PO_4$ with small additions of NaF 0.8 wt.%. All anodization treatments were carried out using a scanning potentiostat (Model 362, EG&G, USA) at constant voltage 30 V for 120 min, respectively. The morphology of the samples was investigated with a field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Surface characteristics of nanotbue formed on Ti-xNb alloys was investigated by potentiodynamic test and potentiostatic in 0.9% NaCl solution at $36.5{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. It was observed that the changed ${\alpha}$ phase to ${\beta}$ phase with Nb content.

초고진공 분자선 에피성장 시스템의 제작과 에피성장된 ZnSe/GaAs(001)의 광학특성 (Construction of an Ultra High Vacuum Molecular Beam Epitaxy System and Optical Property of ZnSe/GaAs(001) Epitaxial films)

  • 본 연구에서는 초고진공 (UHV; ultra high vacuum) 분자선 에피성장 (MBE; molecular beam epitaxy) 시스템의 제작과 성능연구가 성공적으로 이루어졌다. 초고진공 용 분자선 에피성장 시스템을 국산화개발 및 제작하여, 장비에 관한 성능 테스트를 하게 되었다. 본 장비의 진공도가 $2X10^{10}$ Torr에 도달함을 확인하였고, 시편 가열모듈(substrate heating module)이 $1,100^{\circ}C$까지 가열됨을 확인할 수 있었으며, ZnSe/GaAs(001)의 증착특성을 SEM (scanning electron microscope), AFM (atomic force microscope), XRD (x-ray diffraction), PL (photoluminescence) 등으로 조사하였다.

Etching Characteristics of YMnO3 Thin Films in Cl Based Inductively Coupled Plasma

  • Ferroelectric YMnO$_3$ thin films were etched with Ar/C1$_2$ and CF$_4$/C1$_2$ Plasma. The maximum etch rate of YMnO$_3$ thin film was 300 $\AA$/min at a Cl$_2$/Ar gas mixing ratio of 8/2, an RF power of 800 W, a do bias of-200 V, a chamber pressure of 15 mTorr, and a substrate temperature of 3$0^{\circ}C$. From the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, yttrium was not only etched by chemical reactions with Cl atoms, but also assisted by Ar ion bombardments in Ar/C1$_2$ plasma. In CF$_4$/C1$_2$ plasma, yttrium formed nonvolatile YF$_{x}$ compounds and remained on and the etched surface of YMnO$_3$. Manganese etched effectively by forming volatile MnCl$_{x}$ and MnF$_{y}$. From the X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, the (0004) diffraction peak intensity of the YMnO$_3$ thin film etched in Ar/Cl$_2$ plasma shows lower than that in CF$_4$/Cl$_2$ plasma. It indicates that the crystallinty of the YMnO$_3$ thin film is more easily damaged by the Af ion bombardment than the changes of stoichiometry due to nonvolatile etch by-products.cts.s.

  • [ $Nd_{2x}Cd_{2-3x}SiO_4$ ]($0.01{\leq}x{\leq}0.21$) [S1-S3: x=0.01, 0.11 and 0.21] 고용체를 졸-겔 방법을 통해 합성하였다. X선 분말회절(XRD) 측정은 $P2_1$/m 공간군의 단사정계를 보여준다. 평균 결정 크기는 20-45 nm이다. 주사전자현미경(SEM)으로 살펴본 모양은 구형의 특성을 보인다. 에너지 분산 X 선 분광기(EDS) 결과로부터 모든 구성 원소의 존재를 확인하였다. ~750 nm에서의 흡수 밴드는 $Nd^{3+}$ 이온의 $^4I_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^4F_{7/2}+^4S_{3/2}$ 전이에 기인한다. 10, 40, 77, 300 K에서 S1-S3의 전자 상자성 공명 (EPR) 선모양은 $Nd^{3+}$ 이온의 빠른 스핀 격자 이완에 기인하는 폭이 넓은 구분되지 않은 등방성의 선모양을 보여준다.

오색온천수의 지화학적 및 침전물에 대한 광물학적 특성 (Geochemistry and Mineralogy of Precipitates from Oseag Hot Spring)

  • 오색 온천은 강원도 북동부 지역인 양양군 서면 오색리에 위치하고 있으며 온천 원수의 온도는 약 $42^{\circ}C$이다. 온천 원수는 EC (196 us/cm), $SO_4$ (10.88 mg/L), F (8.19 mg/L), 그리고 Na (37.09 mg/L)로 상당히 높은 값을 나타낸다. 온천 원수가 배출되는 배출구 부근에는 붉은 색과 검은색의 침전물이 형성되고 있다. X-선회절분석 결과 대부분 결정도가 낮은 철 수산화광물에서 관찰되는 회절선과 결정질의 메셀라이트로 구성되어 있다. 전자현미경 관찰 결과 침전물에는 외관상으로 구형과 막대모양의 박테리아와 유사한 형태들이 발견된다.

Magnetic Properties of Sn1-xFexO2 Thin Films and Powders Grown by Chemical Solution Method

  • Iron-doped $Sn_{1-x}Fe_xO_2$ (x = 0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.33) thin films on Si(100) substrates and powders were prepared by a chemical solution process. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the $Sn_{1-x}Fe_xO_2$ thin films and powders showed a polycrystalline rutile tetragonal structure. Thermo gravimetric (TG) - differential thermal analysis (DTA) showed the final weight loss above $430{^{\circ}C}$ for all powder samples. According to XRD Rietveld refinement of the powders, the lattice parameters and unit cell volume decreased with increasing Fe content. The magnetic properties were characterized using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy. The thin film samples with x = 0.1 and 0.2 showed paramagnetic properties but thin films with x = 0.33 exhibited ferromagnetic properties at room temperature. Mossbauer studies revealed the $Fe^{3+}$ valence state in the samples. The ferromagnetism in the samples can be interpreted in terms of the direct ferromagnetic coupling of ferric ions via an electron trapped in a bridging oxygen deficiency, which can be explained using the F-center exchange model.

가시광선과 UV광선에 의한 Fe 처리된 AC/TiO2 복합체의 광분해활성 (Photocatalytic activity of Fe treated AC/TiO2 composites between visible light and UV light irradiation)

  • FAT복합체는 TOS ($TiOSO_4{\cdot}xH_2O$)를 사용하여 솔-겔 방법으로 제조한다. 시료들은 SEM, 비표면적, XRD 및 EDX를 사용하여 분석하였다. SEM결과로서 Fe 와 $TiO_2$ 입자가 AC 표면에 분포하고 있다. XRD 결과에서 Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체는 다 anatase결정상을 하고 있다. 그리고 EDX 결과에서 C, O, Ti 및 Fe 원소가 Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체에 다 존재하고 있다. 복합체의 광촉매 활성은 가시광선과 UV광선을 사용하고 메틸렌불루(MB)의 분해 효과에 의해 측정한다. Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체는 강한 가시광선 조사에서 우수한 광촉매 효과가 나타난다. AC/$TiO_2$ 복합체에 있는 소량 존재하는 Fe 원소가 그들의 광촉매 활성을 강화할 수 있다.

Syntheses of Cu-In-Ga-Se/S nano particles and inks for solar cell applications

  • Nanoparticles of the compound semiconductor, Cu(In, Ga)Se2 (CIGS), were synthesized in solution under ambient pressure below $100^{\circ}C$ and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical absorption spectroscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyses. These materials have chalcopyrite crystal structures and the particle sizes less than 100 nm. Synthetic conditions were studied for the crystallized CIGS nanoparticles formation to prevent from side products of Cu2Se, Cu2-xSe, and CuSe etc. The single phase CIGS nanoparticles were applied to coating of thin films photovoltaic cells. The electro deposition of CIGS thin films is also a good non-vacuum technology and under investigation. In aqueous solutions, the different chemical compositions of CIGS thin films were obtained, depending on pH, concentration of starting materials and deposition potentials. The surface morphology of the prepared CIGS thin films depends on the complexing ligands to the solutions during the electrochemical deposition.

  • Bi-system high-$T_c$ superconductors with the nominal composition $(Bi_{0.7}Pb_{0.3})_2-Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$ have been prepared by PJL method. The critical temperature (offset temperature) of the sample annealed for 13 hours in air was 102K. And the results of X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns, scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectra analyses, it was found that PJL method is so effective to reduce the heat treatment period.

Vacuum Carbonization of Nanometer Tungsten Powder with Carbon Black

  • Vacuum carbonization of nanometer tungsten powder was investigated in a simple designed apparatus. An X-Y recorder was used to plot differential thermal analysis (DTA) curves to determine starting temperature of carbonization of four samples with different specific surface area. The product was detected by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The results show that finer tungsten powder has lower starting temperature of carbonization. Tungsten powder, which BET surface area is $32.97m^2/g$, is completely carbonized to tungsten carbide at $1050^{\circ}C$, although the starting temperature is $865^{\circ}C$. Particle grows sharply before carbonization.
