The data transformation between XML and Relation Database is made through the Principle of mapping bewtween them. There are two ways to access SQL Server, one is to assign SQL query to URL and the other is to use template file. MS-SQL server takes advantage of OpenXML function to transform the results of executing SQL query into XML documents. That is, OpenXML first makes node tree and then transforms row set data of XML documents into XML data of relation type. In order to insert XML data into database data. data is extracted from parsing XML documents using sp_xml_preparedocument procedure, and then the document structure is mapped into tree structure and stored in a table of database. Consequently, Data transformation between XML and Relation Database is made through mapping bewtween them. This article proposes the principle of mapping between XML and Relation Database and then shows the implementation of transformation between them so that it introduces the possibilty of bringing the extension and efficiency of data and various effects.
As the XML data has been widely used in the Internet, it is necessary to store and retrieve the XML data by using DBMSs. However, relational DBMSs suffer from the model difference between graph structure of the XML data and table forms in relational databases. We propose an ORDBMS-based DTD-dependent XML data management system Xing. Xing stores XML data in a DTD-dependent form in an object database. Since the object database schema has a graph structure and supports multi-valued attributes, mapping from an XML data model and queries into an object data model and OQLs is a simple problem. For rapid storing of large quantities of the XML data, we use SAX parser with customized Xing-tree which requires a small memory space compared with the DOM-tree. Xing also returns the query result in an XML document form. We have implemented the Xing system on top of UniSQL object-relational DBMS for the validity checking and performance comparison. For XML genome data from GenBank, and experimental evaluation shows that Xing can provide significant performance improvement (maximum 10 times) compared with the relational approach.
In mobile XML environments, the efficient synchronization technique is required to maintain the consistency of replicated XML data because the same data can be replicated between so many different XML documents. In this paper, we propose a message digest based synchronization technique to maintain the consistency of replicated data between client XML documents and a server XML database in mobile XML environments. The proposed an XML data synchronization technique(XSA) has the advantage of model generality aspect and storage space aspect by using the tuple-based message digest table to detect the data conflicts. The proposed technique can be applicable to the application requiring the consistency of replicated XML data without any restrictions in the heterogeneous(between hierarchical XML documents and relational XML databases) mobile environments.
Dissemination of XML data on the internet could breach the privacy of data providers unless access to the disseminated XML data is carefully controlled. Recently, the methods using encryption have been proposed for such access control. However, in these methods, the performance of processing queries has not been addressed. A query processor cannot identify the contents of encrypted XML data unless the data are decrypted. This limitation incurs overhead of decrypting the parts of the XML data that would not contribute to the query result. In this paper, we propose the notion of query-aware decryption for efficient processing of queries against encrypted XML data. Query-aware decryption allows us to decrypt only those parts that would contribute to the query result. For this purpose, we disseminate an encrypted XML index along with the encrypted XML data. This index, when decrypted, informs us where the query results are located in the encrypted XML data, thus preventing unnecessary decryption for other parts of the data. Since the size of this index is much smaller than that of the encrypted XML data, the cost of decrypting this index is negligible compared with that for unnecessary decryption of the data itself. The experimental results show that our method improves the performance of query processing by up to 6 times compared with those of existing methods. Finally, we formally prove that dissemination of the encrypted XML index does not compromise security.

Although, a number of DBMS vendors are scrambling to extend their products to handle XML, there is a need for a lightweight, DBMS and platform-independent XML repository as well. In this paper, we describe such an XML integrated repository system, that solves the following functions : generating relational schema from XML DTDs for storage of XML documents, importing data from XML documents into relational tables, creating XML documents according to a XMLQL(XML Query Language) from data extracted from a database and synchronizing the replicated XML documents. In the XML repository systems, the efficient change detection techniques for XML documents is required to maintain the consistency of replicated XML data because the same data in the repository can be replicated between so many different XML documents. In this paper, we propose a message digest based change detection technique to maintain the consistency of replicated data between client XML documents and a XML data in XML repository systems.
Though XML is widely used, it is still hard for end users to write XML documents. A lot of XML documents are data-centric documents which have formal data format. Even novices can easily write the data-centric XML documents if they use form-based GUIs. In this paper, we introduce a new method for generating form-based XML editor for data-centric XML documents automatically and an XML editor generator called XED. The DTD consists of sequence, choice, and repetition, and this structure can be represented with Document Decomposition Graph(DDG). XED allows users to generate an XML editor by applying the presentation rules to DDG. It also permits users to modify generated editor through changing editor`s GUI properties with direct manipulation.

Recently, XML has been widely used as a standard for a data exchange, and there has emerged the tendency that the size of XML document becomes larger. The data transfer can cause problems due to the increase in traffic, especially when a massive data such as Data Warehouse is being collected and analyzed. Therefore, an XMDR wrapper can solve this problem since it analyzes the tree structures of XML Schema, regenerates XML Schema using the analyzed tree structures, and sends it to each station with an XMDR Query. XML documents which are returned as an outcome encode XML tags according to XML Schema, and send standardized messages. As the formalized XML documents decrease network traffic and comprise XML class information, they are efficient for extraction, conversion, and alignment of data. In addition, they are efficient for the conversion process through XSLT, too, as they have standardized forms. In this paper we profuse a method in which XML Schema and XMDR_Query sent to each station are generated through XMDR(extended Meta-Data Registry) and the generation of products and XML conversion occur in each station wrapper.
Mining of association rules is to find associations among data items that appear together in some transactions or business activities. As of today, algorithms for association rule mining, as well as for other data mining tasks, are mostly applied to relational databases. As XML being adopted as the universal format for data storage and exchange, mining associations from XML data becomes an area of attention for researchers and developers. The challenge is that the semi-structured data format in XML is not directly suitable for traditional data mining algorithms and tools. In this paper we present an encoding method to encode XML tree-nodes. This method is used to store the XML data in Value Table and Transaction Table that can be easily accessed via indexing. The hierarchical relationship in the original XML tree structure is embedded in the encoding. We applied this method to association rules mining of XML data that may have missing data.
As the Web-based e-Business prevails, the volume of XML data on the Web is getting larger than ever. Although much research has been done on decomposing and storing XML data in RDB, which is now the most popular storage for XML, and on processing XML queries through their SQL counterparts, little attention was paid to how to alleviate the burden of storing massive volume of XML data. In this paper, we propose a hybrid method of storing XML data in RDB, whereby the unit of storage could be an XML subtree as well as an XML node. The part of XML data whose nodes were separately stored could be reformed into an XML subtree for storing when it gets rarely queried or less valuable for reference as time goes by. With this method, we designed and implemented a hybrid XML storage and query processing system, comparing it with the conventional system where an XML node is the only unit of storage. Through experiments, we compared storage efficiency and query processing performance, validating the effectiveness of our proposed system.
XML has already been settled down as a standard for the exchange of commercial data on the web. Though most institutions have a wish to use XML document as an EDI form for all sorts of document exchange, it is unfortune that previous commercial data is still saved in the relational form of data base. Therefore, it is necessary that data saved in the relational form of data base be transformed into XML document form for the better use of document exchange. In order to transform relational form of data base to XML, one solution is to publish XML document by way of mapping each field of the relational form of data base table onto XML. However, in the case of building one XML document out of more i~km two data base tables, a join should be performed since a mere mapping associated with DTD tan not solve the problem. In this paper, we build the view for the XML in which alignments generated from the join are presented. and then through this view the contents with the relational form of data base should be transformed into XML. Briefly speaking, This paper aims to propose algorithm concerned with this transformation and to realize it.
