154kV OF-XLPE 이종케이블 접속함의 개발 (Development of Transition Joint for 154kV OF Cable and XLPE Cable)

  • 최근 XLPE 케이블의 신뢰성 향상을 위한 지속적인 연구 및 기술개발이 성과를 나타내면서, 지난 한세기동안 세계적으로 실선로에 적용되어 그 신뢰성을 인정받던 OF 케이블이 XLPE 케이블의 상대적으로 낮은 송전 손실, 높은 방염 특성 및 유지보수와 설치의 편이성에 밀려 그 수요가 급격히 감소하고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 추세에 따라 기존의 OF 케이블 선로의 증설 또는 이설 공사의 경우, 기설 OF 케이블 선로에 XLPE 케이블을 연결하여 사용하는 경향이 많아지며, 이 이종의 케이블을 상호간 연결하는 중간접속함의 필요성이 대두되었다. 이 이종케이블 접속함은 각 케이블의 제반 특성을 최대한 유지하는 동시에 장기적인 신뢰성 확보가 최대 과제이며, 기설의 전력구에 사용하기 위한 경량화 또한 요구된다.

  • The manufacturing technology of XLPE power cable ( e.g. gas curing, triple common extrusion, clean room, super-clean compound, etc.) had been developed in 1960's and the design parameter of insulation thickness for EHV XLPE power cable at present was determined in 1960's. But, the quality of XLPE power cable has been improved up to now. The re-evaluation of design parameter for insulation thickness reductions is required and so we performed weibull plotting test using model cable. This paper describes the evaluation details of the insulation characteristics according to weibull plotting test.

  • Taihan Electric Wire Co. developed accessories(PJ, EB-G, EB-A, EB-O) for 345kV XLPE $1C{\times}600mm^2$ cable as a small size conductor cable, after installed 345kV XLPE $1C{\times}600mm^2$ cable, PJ and EB-G on Youngseo${\sim}$Youngdeungpo project KEPCO planed in 2003. All of 345kV XLPE $1C{\times}600mm^2$ cable Accessories are finished the type tests successfully. Straight joint as a Prefabricated Joint(PJ) had shorter the days of assembling than those of TMJ used on the 154kV XLPE Cable. Particularly, the use of clean booth to prevent the dusts and the penetration of water also had made the quality of jointing improved.

Influence of Endurance tests on Space Charge Distribution of 160kV HVDC XLPE Cable

  • The ageing of XLPE cable insulation will lead to the accelerating accumulation of space charge, which will greatly affect the safe operation of the HVDC cable. In order to investigate the influence of different ageing modes on the space charge distribution of the HVDC cable, thermal stressed, electrical stressed and electro-thermal stressed endurance tests were carried out on the XLPE peelings. The tested XLPE peelings were obtained from 160kV HVDC cable insulation. The endurance tests were carried at thermal stress of 363K, electrical stress of 20kV/mm DC and a combination of both. The Pulsed Electro-Acoustic (PEA) method was used to measure the space charge distribution of the samples. The influences of ageing on the trap energy distribution were analyzed based on the isothermal relaxation theory and the decay characteristics of the space charge. The results showed that thermal ageing would help to improve the crystalline morphologies of the XLPE at the early stage. The total amount of space charge decreased compared to the ones before thermal ageing. The long term of electrical stress would result in the cleavage of polymer molecule chains which would intensify the accumulation of space charge and increase the density and depth of electron traps. With a combination of electrical and thermal stress, the injection and migration of space charge were more significant. Besides, the depth and density of electron traps increased rapidly with the increase of endurance time.

  • 전력계통분야에서 송전전압의 초고압화는 꾸준히 연구가 진행되는 과제중의 하나이다. 국내에서는 당사가 참여한 한전(KEPCO)의 영서${\sim}$ 영등포 345kV XLPE 지중T/L 건설공사가 2003년 6월 20일 국내 최초로 준공된 이후 현재까지 아무런 문제없이 운전중에 있으며, 향후 그 수요가 꾸준히 증대될 것으로 예상되고 있다. 전 세계적으로 살펴보더라도 400KV급 XLPE 케이블 및 부속재에 대한 수요가 꾸준히 확대되고 있다. 그러므로, 당사에서는 국내에서 345KV 케이블 및 부속재를 개발한 기술력을 바탕으로, 한 단계 업그레이드된 해외시장에서 세계의 업체들과 경쟁하기 위해, 400KV 2500sq.mm XLPE 케이블 및 부속재를 성공적으로 개발하였다. 이에 관해 소개하고자 한다.

  • About 20 years have passed since cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE) came into practical use for power transmission cables. In 1969, We were the first to product 33kV XLPE insulated cables, and in 1984 produced XLPE cable for 154kV. To meet the increasing demand for electric power in large cities, and to improve reliability of the power supply, plans are being made to introduce ultrahigh-tension power cable for long distance underground lines in urban areas. Studies are currently under way to develop more than 154kV XLPE cables to meet increasing demand. In this paper presents the progress in the production and design of XLPE cables, and describes ways in which further improvements seems likely.

  • In this paper, we evaluated the dielectric properties of XLPE sheet of 22kV power cable, XLPE/semiconductor and XLPE/water/semiconductor depended on electric field and temperature respectively. Dielectric properties and temperature dependency of XLPE sheet of 22kV power cable increase greatly with as temperature increase and have no effect on applied voltage. And we confirmed that tan$\delta$ values in the samples with semiconductor or water layers were higher than those in the samples without them.

  • Oil-filled power cables and XLPE power cables have been globally applied for extra-high-voltage underground power transmission lines. The application of XLPE cables for the transmission lines have been largely increased at the domestic and overseas projects because of some issues. O.F cables have some week points, related with the issues of the environmental pollution and the needed maintenance work, even though they have been applied for several ten years and their reliability has been proven. Meanwhile, the demands on XLPE power cables increase as their manufacturing technologies have been improved and their simplicity of installations has been focused on. In Korea, for the first time, the 275kV XLPE cable is to be applied at an overseas power plant project. This paper introduces the project profile, the design of the XLPE cable and its accessories, the cable system design and the installation design.

  • This paper introduces experimental investigates of an accident pattern for the distributing cross linking-polyethylene(XLPE) cable terminations considering product liability(PL) law environment. The influence of defects such as thickness and length decrease of XLPE, an impurity on XLPE and the gap between stress-con of housing and semi-conductor on insulating properties of the termination have been studied. The thickness and length decrease of XLPE decrease ac breakdown strengths. Breakdown traces of XLPE that is damaged by knife displayed ellipse shape. The gap of between stress-con and semiconductor deteriorates dielectric strength of XLPE seriously.

  • Water tree experiments were done for several types of cross-linked polyethylenes. Test method is followed by ASTM D6097. Polyethylene is divided for four subgroup. First One is chemically cross-linked general XLPE, and second one is chemically cross-linked tree-retardant XLPE, and the third one is silane cross-linked polyethylene made by monosil process, and the last one is silane cross-linked polythylene made by copolymer. Tree retardant XLPE shows the shortest water tree length. Cahemcally cross-linked general XLPE shows the longest water tree length. Silane cross-linked polyethylene by copolymer is similar to tree retardant XLPE and similar breakdown strength. So silane cross-linked XLPE by copolymer could be used for the the medium voltage cable which should have tree retardant characteristics.
