  • While the modern society has been highly diversified and civilized, the demand for the safty of a power transmission has been greatly increased. For the underground cable, the performance of the electrical equipments is being improved by developing a new technology, and the reliability of the power supply is being up graded by impressing the diagnostic and monitoring technology of the system. In this paper the aging procedure of O.F and XLPE cables are described, including the diagnostic and monitoring equipments and the future subject.

  • 본 논문에서는 XLPE 전력케이블 접속부의 부분방전을 측정하기 위한 Ferrite 형상에 따른 EM Probe를 설계하였다. 부분방전 펄스의 검출대역를 넓이기 위해 투자율이 2400인 페라이트코어를 사용하여 센서를 제작하였고 형상에 따른 특성을 비교하기위하여 실린더형 Ferrite와 말굽형 Ferrite를 적용하였다. 또한 부분방전 검출능력을 확인하기 위해 상용 HFCT센서의 비교 실험을 통하여 위상특성과 주파수 특성을 분석하였다.

  • This paper deals with the partial discharge detection in order to recognize with three different nature of artificial defects using non-conventional HF-VHF PD sensor of which two measuring position are chosen along the 22.9kV XLPE power cable specimen. The response of the sensor under investigation has been observed be significantly affected by the cable length from the PD sources. As a result, it seems that the detecting sensor position is very important for the analysis of the nature of PD source. Moreover, it could be suggested that any standardized calibration method should be established replacing IEC 60270 as far as any type of non-conventional sensors are concerned.

  • In this work the recyclable new polyethylene(PE) and polypropylene(PP), which are thermoplastic, have been investigated as the eco-friendly insulating candidates to replace the cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). The temperature dependence of conductivities of these materials has been measured and its effects on electric field and space charge distribution in polymeric insulated power cable under temperature gradient have been calculated. It is shown that the sensitivity of conductivity to temperature change has more critical influence to determine the electric field distribution in the power cable than the absolute value of conductivity does and it can be said that the temperature dependence is one of most important factors for the power cable design.

  • A HTS(High Temperature Superconductor) Cable is regarded as the most underground power to respond higher power density delivery system. This paper discussed electrical characteristic and standards of HTS Cable system. Various HTS cable characteristics are examined[3-5], ad compared with XLPE cable characteristics on possible distribution system environment. HTS cable is required to stabilize thermal condition for superconducting status, possible improper operating condition which affects quench, unbalanced, and harmonics impacts are discussed. HTS cable is customer designed cable which shall be implemented in special requirement of power system, the standard origination process requires to establish a series of methodology including design manufacturing, testing and installation.

  • 지중송전선로는 가공송전선로와는 달리 고장발생시 영구고장이 대부분이며 따라서 고장복구 기간도 상대적으로 긴편이다. 고장 후 신속한 복구를 위해서는 무엇보다 고장원인을 빠르고 정확히 밝혀내는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 우리회사가 시행하고 있는 XLPE케이블 고장분석 종류와 그 결과를 통한 고장원인 도출까지의 과정을 다루었다.

  • A purpose of this paper is to recognize partial discharge pattern for cable insulation. The classification of PD sources was widely studied for two decades. this research sought to use the partial discharge detection method, and to diagnose the interface of cable, which is deemed vulnerable of cable systems. A research abalyzed faults that can occur in the interface of cable joint as well as accident mechanisms, manufactured test 22.9kV CNC cable, invented artificial faults and carried out partial discharge detection experiments. As a result, various PD pattern along defect measured and distinguished.

  • In order to evaluate the soundness of 10 year service-aged XLPE-insulated 22.9 kV underground distribution cables, semiconductive shields have been characterized. The edge of insulation near the insulation shield shows a drastic decrease of OIT. Impurities such as Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu were detected in both conductor and insulation shields. Their concentrations at the insulation shield are much higher than those at the strand shield. All these facts suggest that the edge of insulation near the insulation shield is degraded considerably, which might be attributed to the oxidation reaction of insulation by a large amount of impurities in the insulation shield.

  • Thermal and electrical breakdown phenomena in XLPE insulator of power cable were investigated. At high temperature the polymeric insulator was thermally deteriorated. Under the magnified high electric field, electrical tree was initiated at the sharp tip of needle electrode which was inserted to simulate the defects and impurities such as void, crack, metallic particles, dusts, and so on.

  • Chemical structure and electrical properties such as water treeing and space charge accumulation of various raw materials(XLPE) used for power cable insulation were investigated. It was found that chemical structure was changed after crosslinking reaction and every materials have different amounts of DCP and antioxidant. Electrical properties were also changed after extraction using $CHCl_3$ and xylene. Water tree length was smaller with additives such as DCP and antioxidant and bigger with low molecular weight components of polyethylene than that of extracted samples. Heterocharge was changed into homocharge after extraction. This shows that additives and low molecular weight components of polyethylene cause the heterocharge.
