Design and Fabrication of Hard X-ray Zone Plate (경 엑스선 존 플레이트(Zone Plate) 설계 및 제작)

  • Spatial resolution is determined by the performance of x-ray optics used in the x-ray imaging system. A zone plate was designed for obtaining a high spatial resolution image at x-ray energy of 8.5keV. A spatial resolution of 80 nm was estimated by the ray tracing when an x-ray tube of tungsten targe was used instead of synchrotron radiation. The designed zone plate of outermost zone width of 40nm was successfully fabricated by the electron-beam lithography.

Magneto-optic effect of thermal evaporated amorphous TbFeCo thin flim (비정질 TbFeCo 합금 증착박막의 자기광학효과)

  • 최근 광자기 기록매체로 주목받고 있는 RE-TM계 비정질 박막을 T $b_{x}$ (F $e_{0.9}$ $Co_{0.1}$)$_{100-x}$ (x=14, 17, 20, 23, 27[at%])의 조성비를 갖는 모합금을 만든후 진공증착방법으로 합금박막을 제작하였다. 각시료의 조성에 따른 자기광학효과를 알아보기 위하여 80K부터 600K에서 포화자화( $M_{s}$ )와 보자력( $H_{c}$)에 대한 온도의존성과 자기이방성상수(Ku), Polar Kerr 이력곡선을 측정하였다. 또한 Curie 온도 근처에서 열처리 시간에 따른 자기 토크 곡선의 변화를 분석 함으로써 합금박막 표면의 산화정도를 정성적으로 평가할 수 있었다. 실험결과 T $b_{22.72}$(F $e_{68.78}$ $Co_{8.5}$)인 시료가 상온에서 8.4KOe의 보자력을 가졌으며 T $b_{x}$(x=23[at%])인 경우가 가장 큰 수직자기이방성을 나타냈다. Polar Kerr 이력곡선은 Tb함량 x=25~26[at%]에서 부호가 반전됨을 알 수 있었다.다.다.다.

Visualization of Water-uptake Process in Excised Roots of Arabidopsis using Synchrotron X-ray Imaging Technique (가속기 X선 영상기법을 이용한 애기장대 뿌리털의 물 흡수과정 가시화)

  • Water-uptake through roots, is an essential process of the water flow in plants. Its visualization is very useful for understanding sap flow dynamics at whole plant level. In this study, the tips of Arabidopsis' root hairs were excised and exposed to repeated dehydration and rehydration processes. The water-refilling through individual xylem vessels was visualized using the synchrotron X-ray micro-imaging technique. The high temporal resolution ($2\;{\mu}m$) and beam intensity of the X-ray source allowed to acquisition of consecutive X-ray images of the water-refilling process up to 10 frames/sec. Various flow patterns were observed and the ascending speed of the water-air interfaces was analyzed. The relation between the water-rising height and ascending speed was also analyzed. The present results would provide better alternative for investigating sap flows in roots.

Mossbauer Study of EuxFe2-xO3 (x0.8 and 0.7)

  • The microscopic physical properties of nonstoichiometric garnet EuxFe2-xO3 (x=0.8 and 0.7) have been studied by the methods of X-ray diffraction at room temperature and M ssbauer spectroscopy within the temeperature range of 12-560 K. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples show coexistence of dominant garnet and a small portion of unknown crystal phase. But the M ssbauer spectra for the sample of EF08 and EF07 near N el temperature determined to be equally 549$\pm$5K show that there are no any other extra crystal phases within the experimental error. The results of which the temperature dependence of M ssbauer parameters was anlyzed by the spin-wave theory and Debye model are in good agreement with the fact that the sample of EF08 has some vacancies at a-and/or d-sites.

Characteristics of the Oxygen Uptake Rate of Entomopathogenic Nematodes Steinernema spp. (곤충병원성 선충 Steinernema spp.의 산소 요구도 특성)

  • Recently, entomopathogenic nematodes have received a considerable attention as biologicalcontrol agents. For in vitro cultivation, storage and transportation of nematodes, oxygen supply isextremely impotant due to its limited solubility and mass transfer problem. The oxygen uptake rates(OURs) of four different Steinernema species were measured in a 5L bioreactor at varying temperatures.The OURs of the Steinernema spp. were below 0.5 x mmolO'||'&'||' . min in the range of 13-17$^{\circ}$C. TheOURs (mmo102/L - min) of S. glaseri Dongrae and S. carpocapsae Pocheon strains were 0.4 x lo-', 0.75x lo-\ulcorner at 21$^{\circ}$C, 1.5 x lo-\ulcorner, 3.2 x 10-2 at 25"C, and 2.8 x lo-', 5.8 x lo-\ulcorner at 29"C, respectively. However,the OURs were not significantly altered by the agitation speed of 50-150 rpm. The specific oxygenuptake rates (qol) of S. glaseri NC, S. glaseri Dongrae, S. glaseri Mungyeong and S. carpocapsaePocheon strains were 0.3 x 0.5 x 0.3 x and 0.2 x mmolO~/cell min at 25"C,respectively. As the nematode size and temperature were increased, the qo, was also increased.the qo, was also increased.

The Dose-dependent Effects of Guibi-Tang on Focal Brain Ischemic Injury in Rats (귀비탕(歸脾湯)의 농도별(濃度別) 구강투여(口腔投與)가 백서(白鼠)의 허혈성(虛血性) 뇌손상(腦損傷)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Guibi-Tang(GBT) on focal brain ischemic injury induced by intraluminal filament insertion in rats. Methods : The ischemia was induced by intraluminal filament insertion into middle cerebral artery. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups, normal group(n=8); control group was ischemia induced and no treatment(n=8); GBT 1X group was ischemia induced and administrated 42.2 mg/ml/kg of Guibi-Tang orally(n=8); GBT 3X group was ischemia induced and administrated 126.6 mg/ml/kg of Guibi-Tang orally(n=8); GBT 6X group was ischemia induced and administrated 253.2 mg/ml/kg of Guibi-Tang orally(n=8) for 21 days. mGluR5, Bax, Bcl-2 and cytochrome C were investigated to observe the effects of Guibi-Tang on apoptosis. The effects of Guibi-Tang on neuroprotective/apoptotic agents in cresyl violet, choline acetyltranferase(ChAT) with ischemic injury were investigated. Results : The intensity of mGluR5 mRNA in the hippocampal CA1 was increased in normal and GBT(Guibi-Tang) 1X groups compared with the control group. The intensity of Bax mRNA in the hippocampal CA1 was decreased in normal and GBT 1X groups compared with the control group. However it was increased unexpectedly in GBT 3X group. The intensity of Bcl-2 mRNA in the hippocampal CA1 was increased in normal and GBT 1X groups compared with the control group. The intensity of Bax/Bcl-2 ratio in the hippocampal CA1 was decreased in normal and GBT 1X groups compared with the control group. The intensity of cytochrome C protein in the hippocampal CA1 was decreased in normal, GBT 1X and GBT 6X groups compared with the control group. The density of neurons stained by cresyl violet and ChAT was increased in normal and GBT 1X groups compared with the control group. Conclusions : These results suggest that Guibi-Tang may have protective effect on vascular dementia.

A study on the Frequency Dependence of Dynamic Pyroelectric Properties for $Pb_{1-x}La_{x}Ti_{1-x/4}O_3$(x=0.1)(PLT(10)) Ferroelectric Thin Film ($Pb_{1-x}La_{x}Ti_{1-x/4}O_3$(x=0.1)(PLT(10)) 강유전체 박막에서 동적 초전특성의 주파수 의존성에 관한 연구)

  • The fabricated La-modified lead titanate (PLT) thin flirt without poling treatment was investigated for modulation frequency dependence of pyroelectric properties by the dynamic method. $Pb_{1-x}La_{x}Ti_{1-x/4}O_3$PLT (x=0.1) thin film having 10 mol% La content was deposited on a Pt/$TiO_{x}$/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by sol-gel method. The PLT(10) thin film exhibits a relatively excellent dielectric property. The pyroelectric coefficient (p) of the PLT(10) thin film is 6.6 x $10^{-9}$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$.K without frequency dependence. The figure of merits for the voltage responsivity and specific detectivity are 1.03${\times}$$10^{-11}$/C.cm/J and 1.46 x $10^{-9}$C.cm/J, respectively. The PLT(10) thin film has voltage responsivity ($R_{V}$) of 5.15 V/W at 8 Hz. Noise equivalent power (NEP) and specific detectivity (D*) of the PLT(10) thin film are 9.93 x $10^{-8}$W/Hz$^{1/2}$ and 1.81 x $10^{6}$ cmHz$^{1/2}$/W at the same frequency of 100 Hz, respectively. The results means that PLT thin film having 10 mol % La content is suitable for the sensing materials of pyroelectric IR sensors.

TERNARY UNIVERSAL SUMS OF GENERALIZED PENTAGONAL NUMBERS

  • For an integer $m{\geq}3$, every integer of the form $p_m(x)$ = $\frac{(m-2)x^2(m-4)x}{2}$ with x ${\in}$ $\mathbb{Z}$ is said to be a generalized m-gonal number. Let $a{\leq}b{\leq}c$ and k be positive integers. The quadruple (k, a, b, c) is said to be universal if for every nonnegative integer n there exist integers x, y, z such that n = $ap_k(x)+bp_k(y)+cp_k(z)$. Sun proved in [16] that, when k = 5 or $k{\geq}7$, there are only 20 candidates for universal quadruples, which h listed explicitly and which all involve only the case of pentagonal numbers (k = 5). He veri ed that six of the candidates are in fact universal and conjectured that the remaining ones are as well. In a subsequent paper [3], Ge and Sun established universality for all but seven of the remaining candidates, leaving only (5, 1, 1, t) for t = 6, 8, 9, 10, (5, 1, 2, 8) and (5, 1, 3, s) for s = 7, 8 as candidates. In this article, we prove that the remaining seven quadruples given above are, in fact, universal.

The Study on Effect of Korean Medical Treatment for Patients with Restless Legs Syndrome (하지불안증후군 환자에 대한 한의학적 치료 효과에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Korean medical treatment for Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Methods: We examined the effects of Korean medical treatment for patients with RLS who visited the neuropsychiatric clinic of Korean medicine. We treated the patient with herbal-medication, acupuncture, oriental psychotherapy. IRLS, STAI-X1,X2, BDI-2, BAI, STAXI-S,T were compared before and after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment to determine whether the symptoms and mood of patients were improved. Results: After 4 weeks treatment (n=13), STAI-X1,X2, BDI-2, BAI, STAXI-S scores increased significantly; whereas, IRLS and STAXI-T scores decreased. After 8 weeks treatment (n=8), IRLS, STAI-X1,X2, BDI-2, BAI scores increased significantly; whereas, STAXI-S scores decreased.Conclusions The treatment of RLS with Korean medicine was clinically efficient and resulted in improvement of the symptoms as well as psychological problems.

Experimental Study on Zeolite 13x for Thermochemical Heat Storage (제올라이트를 이용한 화학축열에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • There are three main methods to store heat energy; sensible heat storage, latent heat storage, and thermochemical heat storage. Thermochemical heat storage has the highest storage density among the three methods, so this study focused on the thermochemical heat storage method. Experiments were conducted in this study with Zeolite 13x as thermochemical material in a large-scale reactor with 8 kg of Zeolite 13x. Experiments analyzed storage density of Zeolite 13x with respect to four different heating temperatures ($50^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$) in heat storage process. As a result, they showed 40~50 percent of storage efficiency in the experiment. Experiments also revealed that reactions between Zeolite 13x and water vapor were reversible and stable, but efficiency of the system was low, compared with sensible heat storage systems or latent heat storage systems.
