Male rats of Albino strain were divided into four groups. The radioprotective effect of treatment with S-2(3-aminopropylamino)ethylphosphorothioic acid(WR-2721) using the dose of 200 mg/kg by intraperitonial injection on rats for 20 min prior to whole body x-ray irradiation (8 Gy) was studied. The harzardous effects of x-ray irradiation were greatly corrected In the treated group. The concentrations of total serum cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, and phospholipid were greatly affected, showing insignificant changes in the treated group of animals. The drastic hyperglycemic effect of x-ray irradiation in the untreated group decreased to a normal level. These results show the potentiality of WR-2721 as a radioprotective agent.

Mulberry leaf roller, Diaphania pulverulentalis (Hampson), is a major pest of mulberry, Morus alba. The life table construction from present investigation reveals the age specific survival $(1_{x)}$ and the age specific fecundity $(m_{x})$ of the pest. The female contributed the highest egg production $(m_{x} ＝ 12.75)4 in the life cycle on the $27^{th}$ day and the lowest $(m_{x} = 0.8)$ on the 37$^{th}$ day of the pivotal age. The female progeny production was observed to be intensive for the first six days after the preoviposition period, beyond which it declines steadily, The fecundity of D. pulverulentalis varies between 60-140. The first female mortality within the cohort occurred 4 days after the adult emergence and mortality increased thereafter, One generation is completed in 33.08 days. The female dominated sex ratio (1: 7.18 days) was recorded.

Data for this study were obtained from Burley 21 (Nicotiana tabacum L.) grown under various densities on the field in 1978 and 1979 at the Jeonju Experiment Station, Korea Ginseng & Tobacco Research Institute. Interrelations between yield and its components were statistically studied by correlation, regression, and pathway analysis. Correlation of yield with plant population was significant and positive. Quadratic functions for yield vs. plant population and the length of the largest leaf were fitted to the data. Multiple recession equation between yield and its components (leaf number ($X_1$), a leaf area ($X_5$), weight per unit leaf area ($X_9$), plant population ($X_14$)), was significant at the 5% level. Measuring the relative importance of its components on yield, plant population was 49.5%, weight per unit leaf area 25.3%, a leaf 15.6%, and leaf number 9.8%.

The electrical conductivities of the yttria (8mol%) stabilizedzirconia-ceria solid solutions were measured as a function of oxygen partial between 80$0^{\circ}C$ and 100$0^{\circ}C$ using 4-probe d.c. method Under pure oxygen atmosphere the oxygen ionic conductivity of CeO2-ZrO2 decreased with the concentration of CeO2 Under reducing condition electronic conduction due to the redox equilibrium of Ce ion was observed. Total ionic and electronic conductivities fitted by a defect model enabled to determine the electronic transference number(tei) which increased with the concentration of CeO2 and with the degree of reduction.

Polycapillary optics are fabricated for hard X-ray waveguide. The Calculation of propagation conditions in polycapillary are conducted to obtain the focal length and spot size as well as the demension of the polycapillary optic devices. X-ray energy of 8 KeV is propagated in the polycapillary optics which the exit diameter of 2.3 mm. and 17 mm in length.

In order to investigate the optimal drying condition of white ginseng by using bulk air drier(130 x 62 x 65cm), drying curves, diffusion coefficient at various drying temperature, the energy of activation, variation of color intensity and chemical components during drying of white ginseng were studied. Fick's second low of diffusion for diffusion out of spheres was successfully applied to describe the drying of white ginseng. It was found that the diffusion coefficient of water was 2.2x107, 9.0x107 cm2/sec at drying temperature 4$0^{\circ}C$, 55$^{\circ}C$, respectively. An Arrhenius type temperature dependency of moisture diffusivity was found, the energy of activation being 18.8 Kcal/g mol. Color intensity of white ginseng dried at various drying temperature was increased with an increase in drying temperature. The contents of crude protein, reducing sugar and crude saponin during drying of white ginseng were gradually decreased as increasing of drying time. And with the sensory evaluation by multiple comparison difference analysis, the optimal drying temperature of white ginseng was between 45$^{\circ}C$ and 5$0^{\circ}C$.

We report the computational structural simulation of the Cry1Ab19 toxin molecule from B. thuringiensis BtX-2 based on the structure of Cry1Aa1 deduced by x-ray diffraction. Validation results showed that 93.5% of modeled residues are folded in a favorable orientation with a total energy Z-score of -8.32, and the constructed model has an RMSD of only $1.13{\AA}$. The major differences in the presented model are longer loop lengths and shortened sheet components. The overall result supports the hierarchical three-domain structural hypothesis of Cry toxins and will help in better understanding the structural variation within the Cry toxin family along with facilitating the design of domain-swapping experiments aimed at improving the toxicity of native toxins.

In the present study, in-situ real-time observation with an X-ray radioscopic facility was carried out on pure aluminum and aluminum alloy solidification. The three kinds of aluminum alloys, such as pure aluminum, Al-8.5%Si alloy, commercial A356 (AC4C) alloys, were used in the present study. The formations of the shrinkage defects in the castings were visualized and different formation phenomena for different aluminum alloys were investigated.

Large single crystals of olivine were grown by using image furnace(floating zone furnace)under controlled partial pressure of oxygen. The transparent crystals have maximum sizes 65mm in length by 7mm in diameter. When partial pressure of oxygen was decreased, the portion of secondary phases in crystals were increased so that it made crystals dark brown. The secondary phases were proved to be solid solution of Mg, Si, and Fe by electron microprobe analysis. Mg was major portion and the rest was minor.

The author studied on the side effects of x-ray irradiation to the developing mandible of the gestation and period of grow the stage rats. For experimental observation, 100 rads, 200 rads, and 300 rads of x-ray were irradiated in regular order at the lower abdomen of the 8th day gestated rats. 5 weeks after conception, their offspring were sacrificed and their mandibles were extracted with intact form. All the extracted mandible were examined for their developing modes histological findings. The results were as followed 1) In 100-200 rads irradiated rats offsprings, their mandidles were not revealed any morphological changes except of the irregular pattern of trabeculatum. In accompany with this findings, most of all the fibroblasts and osteoclasts had their nucleus with shrunken and eccetric position. 2) In according to the increasing x-ray irradiation, marked advent of osteoclast and cortical bone resorption were observed. 3) In 300 rads irradiated rats offsprings, there irregular pattern of trabeculae and windening of bone morrow cavity in their alveolar proper.
