Electrical/Optical Characterization of PZT Thin Films Deposited through Sol-Gel Processing

  • PZT (Pb(Zr,Ti)O3) thin films have been used widely in the MEMS application, due to their inherent ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. Such ferroelectricity induces much higher dielectric constants compared to those of the nonperovskite materials. In this work, the PZT thin films were deposited onto Indium-Tin-oxide (ITO) substrates through the spin-coating of PZT sols. The deposited PZT thin films were characterized in terms of the electrical and optical properties with special emphases on conductivity and optical constants. The detailed analysis techniques incorporate the dc-based current-voltage characteristics for the electrical properties, spectroscopic ellipsometry for optical characterization, atomic force microscopy for surface morphology, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy for chemical bonding, Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectrometry for chemical analyses and X-ray diffraction for crystallinity. The ferroelectric phenomena were confirmed using capacitance-voltage measurements. The integrated physical/chemical features are attempted towards energy-oriented applications applicable to next-generation high-efficiency power generation systems.

  • 4차 산업 혁명 시대를 맞이하여, 최근 기계, 전자 부품의 설계, 제조, 검사에 첨단 IT 기술을 융합하는 사례가 늘고 있다. 본 연구에서는 최근에 구축된 산업용 X-ray CT(computed tomography)를 사용한 산업용 부품의 검사에 대한 최신기술에 대해서 다룬다. 먼저 구축된 첨단의 최신 산업용 CT의 구조와 원리에 대해서 설명하며, 이러한 장비의 역할과 성능에 대해서 설명하고, 본 장비의 분석기법을 보완하기 위한 새로운 연구기반의 구축에 대해서 다룬다. 특히 장비의 출력데이터를 Matlab과 같은 범용 연구 툴로 전송하여 연구를 진행할 수 있는 기반을 구축하며, 이를 토대로 기존의 운용 소프트웨어가 제공하지 못했던 보조적인 3D user interface와 3차원 영상처리를 위한 플랫폼을 구축하는 연구를 진행 하였다. 산업용 3차원 X-ray는 아직 소개 된지 얼마 되지 않은 첨단의 고가의 장비로서 이를 활용할 연구의 종류와 내용이 매우 풍부한 주제로, 이러한 기초적인 연구기반은 추후의 보다 발전적인 연구를 위한 아주 유용한 토대가 될 것으로 판단된다.

  • 방사광의 특성과 방사광의 발생원리에 대한 소개를 하였다. 매우 높은 스펙트럼 휘도와 매우 넓은 영역의 스펙트럼 범위, X-선 파장 조절 가능성과 고도의 지향성 및 집속성, 그리고 시간에 따른 순간파동 구조를 갖는 방사광을 이용하여 지질학 및 지구환경과학에 적용할 수 있는 실험기법을 기술하였다. 이에는 X선 토모그라피, XRF, XANES, EXAFS, 다이아몬드 앤빌 기기 및 라지 발륨 프레스를 이용한 고온-고압 연구와 에너지문제와 관련하여 원자력발전과 핵폐기물처리에 대한 것이 포함되어 있다. 이러한 실험기법은 광물 및 암석에 대한 화학성분, 결정구조 및 결합상태 분석이 가능하며, 광상학과 고생물학 및 환경학 분야에 적용할 수 있다. 또한 이 연구방법을 이용하면 지구내부물질의 거동에 관한 정보를 얻을 수 있다.

옥소레이저에 의해 가열된 홈 표적에서의 X-선 발생에 대한 플라즈마 감금효과 (Plasma Confinement Effect of X-ray Generation in Iodine Laser-Heated Cavity Targets)

  • 1 GW급 옥소레이저를 직경과 깊이가 각각 0.5 mm에서 1.5 mm 사이에 있는 12 종류의 몰리브덴(Mo, Z=42) 홈 표적에 집속시켜서 발생하는 X-선의 세기를 측정하였다. 이때의 X-선 세기를 평면 표적의 경우와 비교하여 홈 표적에서의 효과를 조사하였다. X-선의 세기는 20 A 이하의 단파장을 통과시키는 필터뒤에 X-선 두어 측정하였으며 홈 표적에서의 X-선 세기는 평면 표적의 약 2 배가 됨을 보았다. 이 결과는 홈 표적에서의 플라즈마 감금효과에 의해 정성적으로ㅅ 성명 되었다.

Effectiveness of Ni-based and Fe-based cladding alloys in delaying hydrogen generation for small modular reactors with increased accident tolerance

  • This study investigates the high temperature oxidation behaviour of a Ni-20Cr-1.2Si (wt.%) alloy in steam from 1200 ℃ to 1350 ℃ by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The results demonstrate that exposed Ni-based alloy developed a thin oxide scale, consisted mainly of Cr2O3. The oxidation kinetics obtained from the experimental results was applied to evaluate the hydrogen generation considering a simplified reactor core model with different cladding alloys following an unmitigated Loss-Of-Coolant Accident (LOCA) scenario in a hypothetical Small Modular Reactor (SMR). Overall, experimental data and simulations results show that both Fe-based and Ni-based alloys may enhance cladding survivability, delaying its melting, as well as reducing hydrogen generation under accident conditions compared to Zr-based alloys. However, a substantial neutron absorption occurs when Ni-based alloys are used as cladding for current uranium-dioxide fuel systems, even when compared to Fe-based alloys.

X선회절법(線回折法)에 의한 천연 셀룰로오스 섬유의 알칼리 팽윤구조(膨潤構造) (Alkali-Swollen Structures of Native Cellulose Fibers by X-ray Diffraction Methods)

  • Fine and alkali-swollen structures of native cellulose fibers were investigated by x-ray diffraction methods. The results of fine structures are shown in Table 1. In meridional x-ray diffractograms, the relative intensity ratio R of (002) to (004) for cellulose I was ca. 0.05 and for regenerated cellulose it was ca. 0.45. It was considered that the transformation from cellulose I to cellulose II resulted from the packing or conformational change of cellulose chain. Finally. although cellulose I was not detected in the alkali-swollen celluloses treated for 1 hr to 24 hrs, washing and drying them resulted in the generation of considerable amounts of cellulose I and the amount decreased with increasing alkali duration.

  • DR (Digital Radiography) system will be the best candidate for next generation x-ray diagnosis system. DR system will replace x-ray film by computer monitor and provide various merits like reduced processing time, easy recording, remote diagnosis and etc. In this paper, we propose the pre-processing algorithm which is designed to compensate dead and defected pixel for x-ray detector panel. We also designed DSP(Digital Signal Processor) based DR image processing board for real-time processing of suggested algorithm.

Characterization of Two-Dimensional Transition Metal Dichalcogenides in the Scanning Electron Microscope Using Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometry, Electron Backscatter Diffraction, and Atomic Force Microscopy

  • Here we show how by processing energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) data obtained using highly sensitive, new generation EDS detectors in the AZtec LayerProbe software we can obtain data of sufficiently high quality to non-destructively measure the number of layers in two-dimensional (2D) $MoS_2$ and $MoS_2/WSe_2$ and thereby enable the characterization of working devices based on 2D materials. We compare the thickness measurements with EDS to results from atomic force microscopy measurements. We also show how we can use electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) to address fabrication challenges of 2D materials. Results from EBSD analysis of individual flakes of exfoliated $MoS_2$ obtained using the Nordlys Nano detector are shown to aid a better understanding of the exfoliation process which is still widely used to produce 2D materials for research purposes.

X선회절에 의한 SHOT PEENING처리 구름베어링의 구름접촉 피로해석 (Analysis of the Rolling Contact Fatigue of the Shot Peened Ball Bearing by X-ray Diffraction)

  • The shot peening treatment were conducted for improving the strength of rolling contact fatigue of machine element like a gear. This paper was undertaken to analyze the influence of shot peening treatment for inner race of ball bearing on the rolling contact fatigue. Shot peening treatment were applied to the full hardened and the carbonitrided bearing. And the rolling contact fatigue life test and X-ray diffraction test were carried out. The results of this study showed that the fatigue life of ball bearing in the clean and the contaminated oil could be improved by shot peening treatment. This effect was found to be more pronounced to the full hardened bearing. These facts might be due to the generation of compressive residual stress and the strain hardening of surface layer by shot peening treatment. The failure of the shot peened bearing were presumed to initiate at surface.
